Birthday, Lanterns, and Lovers!

Friday I got my hair cut even shorter than I did six weeks ago. I loved the original cut, but wanted it angeled up more...What doesn't she get about angled up....it's pretty self explanatory!! Angled doesn't mean fill the floor with hair does it??? Any hoo I took my short ass hair over to..........
My friend Violette's, for Grahams birthday party!! That's her hunka hunka burnin love!! I don't know Graham well. It was so nice to see both his adult children constantly hugging him, they just beamed with love and pride for their dad! Truly a demonstrative father...my heart swelled seeing such love! It reminded me of my dad...and how lucky I was. So many kids are void of emotionally connected fathers!
This is Graham preparing to blow his candles out before they burn down the house!!!
He seems to be a real ham....(Gray-ham)!!

My other artist friend Nicci was there with her hubby and adorable most well behaved little guy Duran!! That child is the wisest old soul I have ever met since my daughter and my cousin were that age! It must be an only child thing!! He speaks and acts like a small adult. kudos's to his parents...they're doing a wonderful job!
I settled in to a a fantastic feast of many salads and BBQ burger while Chatting with those I'd not seen in ages. Pepper made a Picnic, and met Bryan after work at the Park. Where they munched on stuffed chicken breasts, Greek Salad and Corn.
She also put a little sumpin sumpin in their reusable water bottles!
That's my green water bottle but she took it because it matched the shirt Bryan
was wearing!

While at the park they bumped into my dear Friend Laura the Gypsy Goddess. As you can see she wears her name well, all decked out in apple green! That's a couple of Laura's friends I've never met. Originally I was going to join Laura, but my gibbled knee made it less appealing.
As you can see the fluid in the water bottles was slightly fermented and took hold!! I guess that's what lovers do. Goodness knows it's been so long, I'd hardly know how to act! Do you think they're having fun yet?
As you can see....they did have fun watching the procession of luminaries!
Taking photos of all the entertainment....gosh you didn't think my friend Gypsy goddess dressed that like for a walk in the park every day did you?
That's one of her luminaries outfits!! She has many!

luminaries people dress in fun garb and parade with rice lanterns around the park in a celebration of light! This is only the second event of this nature in Surrey. I usually drive to Vancouver for the one in July. This year it was canceled with the lack of funding... it's way more expensive now that it's grown beyond what is manageable! What was once a quiet local event seemed to bring the whole city out, forcing the need for clean up and policing!
Shortly after dusk the lanterns are lit and paraded around the park! It's definately an artistic event for all to enjoy!
Even an octopus showed up, baby in tow!
The fairies
The little blue men!
Raggedy Ann's!
And none other than those famous over fifty Red Hatters! Who swear they'll wear purple when they get old!! I don't need a group to wear Purple...it's one of my colors Baby....I own it!! These ladies were kind enough to sponsor this event too!
Here is a sweety with a red hatter lantern....quite artistic, very pretty. But what I'm lovin is those red thongs she's wearing... I want them! Thongs as in shoes...not the present day bum floss!
Looks like Ma and Pa Kettle....remember those movies.... I loved them as a kid!
Pardon me .....but is my age showing?

Ooohwee I love the blue outfit with matching lantern!!
Matchy matchy...I love matching!

The bunny was taking wishes in a bucket...
then I think he was burning them at the end of the night or something cool like that!

Look at this glow worm....doesn't it just fit in,....so cute....Yeah I'm a dork!
This is a very new park, an attempt to clean up this part of the city.
Love the yin yang inlay to the walk.

These are lanterns.....yes they are.......ADORABLE!!
Nice way to end the little luminaries festival tour!
Came back tomorrow to read about Sweetie Pie!

Sunday Scribblings Somewhere

Sunday Scribblings Prompt this week is " Somewhere"

Sister Friends

Somewhere across the miles

Lives a woman I’ve never met in person

Yet I know her, she knows me

Together we can share life and giggles

We are mothers of the highest form

We love deeply, worry and care

At the same resonance, about our children

We are bonded cyber soul sisters

We love teddy bears, laughing

Cookies, blogging, reading and scrabble

We like a glass of wine and a good chat

Bright clothes, shoes, and the color purple

We’re interested and care about people

Animals, music, and our families

We love celebrations, our homes

A nice dinner out and the beach

We’re passionate with liberal minds

Our memories are waning

And we giggle about aging

Children, sex and silly things

We’re partial to nice ambience

Joy, respect and flexibility

Kindness, generosity

And thoughtful hearts!

We’re current thinkers

With a youthful essence

We’ve experienced love

In all aspects

Finally after months of

Commenting and long emails

Our voices connected

It feels like we’ve been friends forever!

This is the new Header I designed for Queensized funny bone's fiftieth birthday on Saturday! If you get a chance check it out! She really is a wonderful gal. One of the most consistent bloggers on the net, she can be seen to post a few times a day, sometimes more depending on what's going on in her life. She can be serious and profound, but most of the time she uses humor to cope with a very demanding situation! I can be assured my fill of weekly giggles when I visit her blog! She has a unique and humorous perspective on the mundane! Happy Birthday Tamara!

Thursday Thirteen Some of my many purple things!

For my 12th Thursday Thirteen I decide to share 13 purple things in my home. There are many many more...but these are some of my favorites! To learn more about the meaning of Purple go here!

I have long had a romance with this vibrant regal color. People don't realize just how many complex shades of Purple there are. I can attest to it! Until last year many rooms were painted those different shades! I also have a deep love for shades of green. That's the phase I'm on now!

My brother gave me this lovely piece for a birthday one year! The artist lives next door to his mother in law. The man who created it lets the glass cure out on the roof of his house, over looking the water! This large bowl used to have potpourri in it. I could no longer stand by and let the dust bunnies take over so I threw it out! It sits tipped to the side on my dresser so I can enjoy it!
This is my favorite of all dishes. I love stained glass, wish I had some lamps. But this will suffice! I could use it to serve salad or chips. Instead I put a candle in it, so I can watch the light flicker through the brilliant glass. It gives me great pleasure. I know.....I'm a cheap date!! Hey... it makes me happy!
This was my moms large vase, I also have a small one to match it! I grew up with this in my childhood home. I think my mom loved colored glass as much as I do!
It's the exact same color as my bedroom and on-suite now!

I even have a wall of purple pictures frames. This is my favorite photo of my brother and I. Probably taken eight or nine years ago! Heaven forbid I should ever divorce purple!
These sweet swirly rod iron candle holders have purple candles in them to match my family room couch and curtains! As you can see my family room and kitchen is painted apple green! I still haven't shown my before and after pictures.
I am waiting to do a large canvas first!

When I saw this plaque at none other than that big "W" store.....it's a dirty word so I won't mention it! I had to have it! I still enjoy it too! It also represents who I am! Even the plum (color) says something...mind you it would have been more fitting if there was a " P" on the end of Plum for plump!
This is one of four prints that are graduated up my stairs. Each is a different color, orange, green, purple, blue with a different suit of cards! I love these prints. They represent who I used to be as a card player who enjoyed a cocktail! Now I rarely do either! Those past events have been replaced but I still love the memories and the colors.
This is the father bear I adopted from Pepper.
He sits on my bed with the mother and baby bear,
if he doesn't get booted off in the middle of the night!

This is one of four cushion covers that Pepper got me at a car free day street fair. Two of these green and purple and two orange. I would love a long coat made out of this style of material! With all the vivid colors! Although as much as I love orange I can't wear it!
This is the light fixture that hangs over my dining room table. As much as I love this piece it's not very practical, gives off very little light and not one of my smartest choices as far as common sense goes!
I have four of these wall hanging purple candle sconces, this is one of two in my bedroom, as you can see my bedroom is an eggplant color! I love these holders...they make me happy in their very special bohemian way!

This bobble is one of three hanging off my bed, with a bohemian style sari material! I love the vivid colors and these magenta and gold ornaments make me feel like a Goddess!
This heart hangs off a light switch in my living room! A wonderful reminder of what's important to me! I have other signs of peace scattered around too!
Peace fosters creativity and a grateful heart!
Thanks for letting me share this part of myself with you!

Three Word Wednesday

Photo taken in Langley Aug 16th 2008

Three Word Wednesday Lapse, Desperate, Traveled

A time lapse floats to the surface when pain persists

Desperate enough, change finally occurs

Hoping this traveled path will dissipate with the ache

Saturday Delight

Saturday morning I went on a search for a knee brace. Unfortunately my knee is not the standard size. I was advised to make my own and pointed in the direction of the fabric store down the road. I opted out and settled for a generic Velcro tensor!

On a search for some Vein Sense vitamins, there was no parking in front of the first health food store. So I drove up the road, found a parking spot right in front of recommended fabric store, located next to the other health food store! I hesitated at the door to the fabric store wondering if I should even check for the material now that I had the generic one! Something propelled me to pop in. While asking about the fabric I needed the sales lady seemed elated about my purse wondering if I was an artist. After a short conversation, I left with a good chunk of canvas to create on, which she hopes to embellish with her sewing machine! Very exciting! I'm in the process of sketching designs to paint!

Then I met Dream Goddess, we headed to the beach to share this plate of fish and chips. Probably our last on the beach this summer, they usually close in october.
We sat beside this beautiful garden of purple and white flowers!
Then we spied a little bird who wished to share a few crumbs of the chips.
Sweet little thing munched a few morsels while we sat close by enjoying his bravery!
Later we headed to Winners, a department store full of well price name brand items.
They had a huge shoe mark down. Just as we were at the check stand, dream goddess mentioned I should check out a table I'd missed. I found one shoe I loved and knew would be comfortable. The other shoe was no where to be found! I searched, she searched, still nothing. Finally after a half an hour wait I left my number in case the other turned up! Just as we were headed to the door this young effeminate male come running up to tell us they found the match in the warehouse! Spontaneously Dream goddess yelled " Group hug" the salesman joined in on the fun as we squished together in a circle excited about our conquest! So for twenty six dollars I came away with some $110.00 Nine West shoes!! Thanks Dream Goddess for hanging around until we found it!
And thank you for abundance!!

A few moments of craziness!

LET'S EAT!"
"I worked all day and I'm hungry!"

"Okay goddesses, this is a restaurant!"
"Please park your three wheeled shopping carts outside!"
"NOT ON THE TABLE!"
"WE MEAN IT!"
"We don't want the whole world to know our friends are BAG LADIES!"

Remember that song by the Doors, "Come on Baby light my fire?"
"For crying out loud I don't need a demonstrations!"
"I didn't mean it literally!"

"I'll light your fire!!"
Dream Goddess nearly burnt down the restaurant with all the candles on her cake!

She seems happy about it too!
Now that's what I call hot!

"I'm watching you girl!
If you keep that up I may have to call the firemen!!"

"Firemen....oh baby baby....am I ready for that!!!!"
"Is my lipstick on straight?
How's my hair?"

"I AM NOT DRUNK!!"
"NO, I WON'T RUIN MY MEAL IF I HAVE A LIPSTICK SNACK!"

All joking aside we had a blast!! Always an interesting and fun
experience powdered with laughs! Four down at half a century old, two to go!

P.S.......Oh and Lucy, I see it, and I already got it covered!!!
Unconscious Mutterings

I say ... and you think ... ?
  1. Cry :: Whenever your heart needs to bleed
  2. Stretch :: beyond your imagination to a new realm
  3. Efficient :: as I may have been in years past I still didn’t know myself
  4. Brunch :: is for those days when you allow yourself to sleep until noon

  7. Delicious ::is the taste of all different types of love
  8. Global warming :: should start from the heart and continue to the conscience
  9. Actions: prove what and who you are!
  10. Ride:: life gently so you never have to look back with regret

My weekend was so full of fun! Lunch and shopping with a friend and a big family dinner! I couldn't get near the computer but I do have a few things to share! Until next time, have a great day!
