29 Faces in Sept

Face # 2 Karma

I'm sad!  While taking a quick peak on facebook there was a news feed repeating an atrocity performed on an overseas news reporter. Tears washed my face as I viewed the photo, which repeated several times as I  scrolled  down the feed.

Original, Face #1 Lina
My heart hurts so much for a world of this nature where humans can be so devalued.
I refuse to give  voice to  the details of such a gross violation on a human being. As much as I love social media and the chance to share beauty and thoughts openly there is a dark side to everything wonderful.

A side I wish children were never exposed to. Where everything sacred and private is exposed willy nilly....and I mean that literally too! What kind of world will future generations know?
Face #3 Savene

I'm  extremely  liberal, open to the realities of life. I am also very protective of what I expose myself to. Plugging my ears during  news casts where they recant the ugly details of child or animal abuse. My head knows these things happen but my heart breaks every time it does.

I am not desensitized like I suspect some of the newer generation is.  I despise violence.    Does it happen....absolutely.
Children need to be protected as much as possible. But they aren't!  They should be surrounded with laughter, wisdom and fun!  Of course many children are exposed to horrible things in their homes.
One only has to watch the the  series "Shameless"  to understand how so many children are victims of their circumstances!!  It all makes my heart ache. That series is not for the faint of heart, it depicts a reality many children face, broadening  our understanding of why so many people live on the dark side!
Face #4 Sophie I don't know why this didn't compute well!
Just when I  most needed to hear some happy News, Joan Rivers dies.....May she rest in peace. It feels like an era is ending... The older I get the more vulnerable I feel!  Although I'm a realist wanting to be current and aware there are  some things so difficult to absorb.

Do you have anything heavy on your mind this week and what
makes you feel vulnerable?
I can never leave on a sad note  so check out this awesome public artwork covering these Vancover Silos....I just LOVE IT!! There is an interesting video at this link where the guys explain how it was created!
Photo is Credited to Roaming the Planet on Vancity Buzz
And if you need a really good Giggle!! Check out this hilarious dogs sitting on cats
Video  it's a good  laugh! So cute.  I could watch it over and over!
Have a great weekend!

Love your faces, and what you have written is so true. We live in a wold where we are surrounded by violence and even get bombarded with it at home through the media, difficult indeed. Hugs, Valerie

Love your faces! And I agree with the sexy lady face who says I forgive but I don't trust. The a big dark side of the world out there that really gets me down too.

I do love that public artwork, and a good dog sitting on cats video is hard to beat... but I totally understand your sentiments in this post... I rarely watch the news anymore, and while I still read the paper as it is easier to keep that slight distance... there is a lot of horror out there, but you bring us a lot of joy with your bright colours and writing, and that will always offset the rubbish...xx

Great faces ... I am happy that I am a soul that is able to forgive ..
Trust Nobody --- is the best solution anyhow!
Happy 29 faces and happy PPF!

Situation in Ukraine, Putin being our neighbor...enough to think every day now!
It's all about power. If adults misuse their power with children they might be ready act when older...

But it's good to paint, let it flow.
PEACE!

I love all the different emotions you captured in your portraits, as well as your bold use of colors. I know what you mean about the terrors going on in the world these days. May the peace of the Lord be with us all.

Loved all your faces. Every week is enjoyable with your paintings. There are too many heartaches in this world and we all have sadness when we hear the atrocities going on. As for Joan Rivers, may she rest in peace.

I always love the crazy colors!
As for the TV horrid shows and ugly stuff, I think it had always happened but now with the internet it spreads wider and faster. Not sure if that is better.

I told my mom the other day that the world we live in now has lost it's soul. I also fear for the generations that are coming up.
On a more happy note you art brings joy with all the color and expressions. The silos are fantastic!!!
Have a very nice weekend

Thanks for cheering me up with those Vancouver silos and even your sad art is colourful and cheery Giggles!

Really Fantastic faces!!! I do just as you do and either plug my ears, leave the room, and /or say "la la la" repeatedly very loud! Even hubby knows to warn me or shoo me away if he's watching. It's not that I wish to ignore any of it but I do not need to see/hear every bitty detail in order for it to have an impact. Love those silos-what fun! Have a great weekend Sherrie.

Great face paintings, Sherrie. I especially like the sad lady, she has a wonderful expression.
I think the happiness and friendliness in our Art Blogland is an amazing thing in the world. There is so much Good which the media never sees.

The girl with the pink hair is my favorite. Yes, so many things are hard to know. I want the boys to be innocent for as long as they can. I'm a sucker for psychology I've been studying all about borderline personality disorder and narcissism. Lots of interesting information on the human brain and why people think they way they do...uneducated people, man! They just don't know any better.

I have a very difficult time watching the news anymore. I know I can't live in a vacuum so I listen once but I refuse to listen over and over to the same horrible story.

Your faces are wonderful. Your bright bold colors always bring a smile to my face. I'm actually playing with color this week. Hope I find another color combination that I like as much as blue and green.

Fab colours and bold designs! Great work as always.

Dearest Giggles - we have to face up to it (and love your faces) the world is a cruel and horrible place at times... I love the way you have combined your art with your voice and ended on a high with a laugh - just visiting from my great mate Neesie!

The news has been very sad lately, which is why I watch as little as possible. Your bright happy faces really cheered me up, and the silos are totally fun. Happy Ppf!

Love the positive smiley gal.. .. Beautiful. I can't stand hearing about animal or child abuse either. It is a cruel world. . .Put a smile on and live from your heart, we can celebrate our corner of the world and make it OK for others. At first some of my walkers didn't even say hello, but now they look forward to my smile and say good morning. Someone said my whole face lights up when I smile. That's about all we can do. Blessings, Janet PPF

Oh Sherrie, I'm so with you on this! I have had so much problems with the news in the last couple of months. All those deaths and all that hate and all that cruelty. It makes me sick. And it makes me so afraid for the future of my children. I have really had to force myself not to read anything about it anymore, but as you say it sometimes just turns up on your screen without you asking for it. We don't even put on the television anymore when the news is on. I don't want my children to see all those gruesome images that will stay in their heads for years to come. I can't get some images out of my head no matter how hard I try. It makes me wonder what effect it'll have on the children that are in the midst of all this cruelty. The things they are forced to see ... I'm just hoping people all over the world will start getting fed up with all this hate and will start a movement like the peace and love-movement in the sixties... I do love your faces this week! So glad you're joining in again. Wish I had the time too, but I'll definitely be there in February :-)

You are so right in your worry about what all the children could see in networld. They should be protected from all that. Your faces are colourful and I like it. Have a nice weekend!

I love these strong, colorful faces of yours! If we people could all be as powerful as these people by you!

What great faces - love all the color. So much sadness in the world. But your colorful art contributes to the good in the world!

I love the words positive people smile often ;D
I always try to smile and I've tried to pass this on to my children. A good example of the power of a smile... when I broke my wrist not so long ago, I smiled at the nurse in the A&E Dept, as I went in and she put me ahead of the queue without telling my until later that it was because I smiled. There were 14 other miserable people behind me (thankfully they didn't know otherwise there would be an uproar)
I love your faces ~ those eyes just draw you in, great video clip too
The public art is so cool.
Enjoy your weekend

Your posts always speak out loud to me, and you are right social media can have a dark side and often it shows the world to be a cruel and dangerous place. However as a reminder that all is not lost you show us a link that made me laugh so much my laptop fell off my knee!! Thank you for sharing, the world is all the better for you Sherrie. much love xx

Such troubling times... maybe narcissism and selfishness is the root of all evil... for when it is all about "me", "I" can assume it is also "my right" to give expression to any and all of my impulses - with no regard for anyone else... so sad...

Your colorful faces make me smile!
The news not so much.
My dear husband reads several newspapers a day, watches multiple news shows on TV, loves history, watches history channel, WWII , all the news fit to print or not. Because it's always ON here I can't help but be exposed to a good amount of it. But I do avoid as much as possible too. I need or want to know what's going on in the world, do not go around with my head in the sand, but I do take vacations from it. And again, I do avoid the hideous and the barbaric . Some things I just do not need to a SEE.
Peaceful, loving thoughts dear friend.

Your "positive lady" with the sun glasses really makes me smile so much! She looks great! I love the colors too as well as the colors of the other faces. And the picture of the painted industrial area is fantastic!!!! Something like this should be done everywhere all over the world! Thank you very much for sharing :)

Gorgeous work, my friend. Things are the same everywhere but they can be worst when you live in an underdeveloped country. I am going to leave you a poem I wrote some time ago. It's my vision of dictatorship when I lived under it:

Poems to the Wounded

1#
I am pregnant with different people.
If you look close to my skin,
you can see men and women
in my pores.
Their eyes have seen things
I can't name.
Their ears have listened to the music
of the oceans.
They are in me and I condemned them
to be my voice.

2#
Deep inside of me, there is a book
I read night after night hidden
in my bedroom when the stars
were my sisters. That book was my love
and my lover. I used to hug it but
not before making love to each letter,
each word, each page.
I stole it from a library when
books were whims of the insane.
That book grew into me like a tree
in a time of discovery and despair.
Whenever I look back I am more aware
that I didn't steal that book.
It was the book that stole my soul.

3#
I spent eighty-four months of my life,
only studying the History of my own country.
( it was as if everybody was in exile:
from Plato up to Roosevelt)
but it was us that were in exile.
I stared at my History teachers with disdain
as I repeated the same dusty names and dates
shaking my legs nervously, enumerating space.
Sometimes I thought their tongues were cut off
long before they could teach us how to think.
Then, little by little I started to pity them:
they were half winged scared beings.
I could see their hearts dying under a defibrillator
as they rehearsed the same old scripts.
When I left high school, I was free to love History
and contemplate it without my prayers and curses.
But now that I am old, I understand my teachers:
They are the proof of dictatorship's obscenity.
