So so funny. I ONLY give art that the person has admired effusively or asked for. I am honored even more after reading this from your experience to tell you that my son and his dear wife have an art quilt I made them for their wedding gift hanging in their bedroom. And I do not believe they only put it up when I visit. LOL I don't think so anyway. They have other bits of my art all around the house. And now that I think of it some are not things they asked for. I just did them, but luckily for me they like them. LOL I think so anyway. I could be fooling myself.
I love your doggie pictures. Will she get all of them or just one?
And lucky you for having Tracy King art in your home!!! I'd frame them too!Lynn Cohenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12094038275377357886noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25107798.post-91617684009292268462012-07-30T05:19:46.499-07:002012-07-30T05:19:46.499-07:00I read this on Saturday, but am just now getting b...I read this on Saturday, but am just now getting back to comment. I LOVE your portrait of Xen- it all the assorted color play you've shared, but you're right that it's really scary to give art as a gift! I've had times when it was the perfect thing, and other times, not so much. I think you're exactly right to let her actions guide you as to whether or not you give it to her.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02215381410223424522noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25107798.post-18110619718815061092012-07-30T05:18:13.115-07:002012-07-30T05:18:13.115-07:00Oh my, I love the mother and daughter! And as always I love all your colour changes. As the mother of daughters, your mother and daughter painting speaks to me. When I married 55years ago my aunt gave us a revolting bed coverlet in a horrible shade of old gold, and my mother matched it with an eiderdown of the same colour. Try not using the present from Mum when you live close by! I do have three framed prints of classic Monet pieces that were a gift from my granfather's third wife - they're beautiful, but I can't seem to find the right space for them! So frustrating.

My mother-in-law mostly wants to give us stuff she found that her children used that my daughter might like. If she had any taste I'd appreciate this, but she seems to have picked up whatever was cheapest at yard sales and the like. (Not that I have any problem with bargains, but buying somethign that was ugly in the first place and then giving it to me when it is also old and matted is not very appreciated.) She also buys my daughter clothes - and most of the time they're okay, if not exactly my style, but the fluorescent leopard-print leggings were a bit much.

However, she loves us dearly, babysits at the drop of a hat, and has cheerfully embraced and supported every single parenting decision I've made, so as far as I'm concerned she gets a gold star anyway.Caitlyn (ladyphlogiston)http://swanfeet.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25107798.post-20648393522351201282012-07-28T19:27:42.228-07:002012-07-28T19:27:42.228-07:00The picture of the pups for your friends couldn...The picture of the pups for your friends couldn't be a better gift. You start from splotches just like I do! Discovered this from Mystele, do you know her? I was so in love with how she "pulled" images from her splotches the same way we find figures from clouds! I am sure your friend would love to receive her dog's painting! It would be a comfort knowing someone missed him too! What a lot to see in your blog!
