Sunday Scribblings " Captive"

Sunday Scribblings prompt this week is appropriately "Captivate"
When being captivated turns into being captive!

Mental Carnage

Captive is the child
Who’s father moved away
Taking with him
Mental illness
And a wife

Captive is the daughter
Worrying about
Things she
Can’t change
Or see

Captive is the woman
Living alone
With a stranger
She thought
She knew

Captive is the truth
Ricocheting
Back at you
After years
Of denial

Captive is the divorcee
Who knows
The new wife’s fears
And sits back
Mummified

Captive are those who know
What  may come
What could be
As they wait
In dismay

  1. We are all captives, in our own way. As someone once said, it is hard for the free fish to understand the hooked one.

  8. Wow, moving piece and very meaningful. Not the sort of piece you'd expect from some called Giggles, but then we all have many sides.

  14. Indeed! A thin line lies between "captivate" and "captive"- but the two reside in such different worlds.

  16. Loved these little pieces of reality- very clever and poignant. My favorite is about truth and years of denial. Beautiful and hard hitting.
