Sunday Scribblings "Curves"

Sunday Scribblings prompt this week is "Curves"
I couldn't help posting this comical image!

Many Curves

Curves, I had many in the edifice of my youth

Hoots and hollers have now ceased

As the dimples set into crevices of comfort

Cushions for my callused caution

Cavalier youthful conduct

Rendered mistakes, and misgivings

The learning curves cordoned me

Back to scruples and safety

My curved course carried me

Out of the realm of that youthful dream

Propelled into the unexpected

A world with unimagined certitude

Here I am in my menses slowing hours

Immersed in an artistic caldron of magic

Submerged in discovery, void of my youth

Awakened to new creative curves

More Birthday

Gypsy Goddess made this cake, not only beautiful and humorous, it was decadent and delicious too! Note the queen of England stamp on it!
Bryan stands against my apple green walls in his Eighties attire of ripped jeans, found in thrift stores hours before! Hiding under his blazer a leopard print vest mimics characters from the "Breakfast Club" movie for an eighties soirée's at a Vancouver club!
The fairy goddess teaches us we must always make love to the camera
while having our picture taken. I rarely see a bad picture of this woman!

Earth goddess shared a story of a random female senior yelling "help me," ......."help me" in a demanding voice. The florist left her post to tend to the lady whose breast had slipped out of her bra, insisting earth goddess place it back in it's rightful spot. Well, Earth Goddess making union wages is not paid enough to touch some random ladies bare bust in a grocery store! Instead she took the top of the bra strap and jiggled it until the displaced jello found it's cup!

It was a magical night of funny stories and frolic! Connie wore lilac in my honor and brought me a decanter of almond tequila purchased at a tequila plant in Cabo Mexico. Like naughty girls we snuck it into our coffees and green tea! Smooth and yummy it smacked me with a short buzz, that soon dissipated!
Girls just wanna have fun, that we did, celebrating my birthday at our favorite haunt. Although something was amiss. The service has been less than stellar as of late! Portion sizes have shrunk, it may be the universe reminding us we're too comfortable there! Salutations were lax as we left. Which was unusual. No one offered fortune cookies. Possibly time to find a new spot, sadly the food is oh so good! I'm hoping we haven't naively offended them.My intuition tells me something else is going on. I think we'll give it one more try and see if we're snubbed again.Thankfully nothing could ruin a perfect night with the goddesses! Although this birthday ambushed me I must say it's been one of such delight! Thank-you ladies....I had a blast!

Illustration Friday " Baby"

Someone I know recently felt something wiggling around their bum, thinking it may just be a hair picked up from a towel after shower. Imagine the surprise when they reached in and found a spider in their bum! True story that inspired this picture for illustration friday's prompt " Baby"

A Toast to Giggles

Hello to everyone in blogger country. You might recognize us from the photos. We have been the subject of a few blogs over the years. Pepper and I (Bryan) have decided to hijack Giggles’ blog in celebration of her birthday. She likes to do this for us, so it is our turn to pay homage to the wonderful woman that you know as “giggles” and the one that we call “Mom”.

A few years back, Giggles took me (I’m just going to reference myself in first person) in after what was probably one of the most epic moments in my life. Without even thinking, she took me in. This was one of the first times I met this side of Giggles. She has an open heart to match her open arms. She calls her house the “house of healing”, and it truly is. Beautiful art and vibrant colors coincide with exuberant smiles and booming laughter.

There are sentiments and moments in time where she will understand you without even needing to speak. You may remember a post she had done near Christmas 2006, where we had gone to pick up dinner and found an old organ on the side of the road under a ragged old garbage bag, just as the rain started falling. I merely looked at it, and she knew the thoughts going through my head. We comically (and on my end of the bargain, painfully) got this hefty instrument to the house. She did this because it made me happy. This is one of her few traits that I hope have rubbed off on me.

She has raised a beautiful, strong, smart, caring, and successful woman in Pepper. She has aimed Pepper in the right direction and always given her options. She has always taught her to use her instinct as only a woman can. She has given her the gift of a mind capable of thinking.

I was raised, for most of my childhood, with my family, but I believe that it has been only in the last few years that I have been shaped into a man. She has taught me to stand up for myself and my wife. She has taught me that I have a purpose for being here, rather than just being number 8 in a family of 10. I’ve always been given enough rope to hang myself with, and a couple times I’ve hung, but she’s been there to lift me up and help me to start over. She and Pepper have supported me and my music, which may not always be the easiest.

Last night, she offered to give me a ride home from work, as she had acquired her brother’s car for the day. She told me, “I wanted to give something to everyone for my birthday and I’m so happy I got the opportunity to.” For her birthday, she wanted to help her brother in a time of need, spare me one more bus ride at the end of a hard day, and to bring Pepper to work in the morning to spare her one more bus ride. These were all things that are appreciated, and she wanted to give them to us on her birthday.

We are two 22 year olds that work random day and night shifts and our schedules can occasionally be hectic. Before going to bed, Giggles will quite often make time to setup the coffee pot for the morning and make our lunches. We don’t ask her to do it, but she likes to be able to offer us just those few more minutes in bed. It’s the little things that really make a day. We just wanted to say thank you.

We just wanted to give all of you a VERY small glimpse into the life of an incredible woman whose influence will change the world. She may not have a noble peace prize yet or be a politician, but she, at some point, has made you smile. She has shown you colors, told you stories, shared poems, and hilarious antidotes, and where ever you are in the world, she has made you giggle (or at least smile). So we propose a toast. Either upon reading this in the morning, or whenever it is you read this, take your coffee, raise it up in a toast between you and your computer screen, and say “Giggles”. We dare you not to smile!

Happy birthday, Mom! To many years of love and laughter, vibrant colors and coffee!

We love you very much!

Pepper and Bryan

Wordy Wednesday!

Say a Prayer for my brother. He is the most amazing father and brother!
Today he gets the polyp on his esophagus removed!
Universal positive thoughts should generate some good energy his way!
Thank-you!

On a happier note here are the Newlyweds married just over
three months now....still seem to like each other.
In fact he's a real happy camper! He can be like this when he's having fun,
so glad someone captured it!

Just a reminder who has the upper foot, with a sister foot backing it up. Now I could never imagine Peppers dad tolerating a photo situation like this! Bryan is so good natured! I am jesting of course! They seems to make a fine balance and love each others company! Isn't that half the battle!
Sisterly love, these girls adore their handsome brother. They have six more brothers that they cherish too! But I still see their eyes light up every time they see him! I think these three siblings will be even closer as time goes on and they all have kids. The middle one is getting married this year too. All having been married within the a year!
The photos taken this weekend are a great reminder how beautiful youth is! I am so glad Pepper is a part of this large family! She loves them, and enjoys their company! What more could you want! Never in a million years could I have imagined my only child would be in a family with ten siblings. Monthly celebrations alone makes for a busy family life! The best joy of all is they are a peace loving crowd! So outside of laughter there is no rip roaring fighting like in some families!

No pedestals

Two conversations this week inspired this poem and drawing. So many times people place others on a pedestal with no where left to go but down. Unfortunately we all have different lessons to learn at separate intervals. Even though we may know exactly what to do to be successful in our lives. For whatever reason we find it next to impossible to implement. We all have baggage some worse than others. We aren't all born with the same tenacity, and some people just get tired of the mundane and like to stir things up!

In any case we are all human with complexities galore! So the next time you compare yourself to someone, remember they are not as perfect as you may wish them to be!

That person you put on the pedestal is very uncomfortable knowing they must be perfect to please you! I don't care how virtuous someone is, under the eyes of judgment they are doomed to fall!

Embrace differences, enjoy them, let them compliment your friendships. Look at the positives and forgive the negatives. No one can stay on a pedestal without losing balance eventually!

No pedestals

Don’t put me on your pedestal

It’s a long way to fall

it will only disappoint you

I’m not who you think at all

I’m not as virtuous

As you’d wish me to be

Sometimes I’m just human

With a wild side in me

Don’t put me high upon the throne

As your ideal friend

Ignoring differences we share

You’ll be disenchanted in the end

I have follies like all the rest

Some stay hidden well

But when you discover them

It’s me you may dispel

So make me your earthly equal

To compliment each others charm

Because falling off that pedestal

Can do body harm!

Sunday Scribblings Quit

Sunday Scribblings prompt this week is " Quit"

No Hope

I waited for things to change

I waited with hope in hand

I searched for support

Compassionate to understand

I carried many burdens

Relinquished just a few

I carried salvation

Eventually I knew

There would come a day

To face the toxic terrain

I’d have to make a choice

To take back my life again

As I contemplated

Situation went awry

Choice was taken from me

No longer could I try

A violent rage arose

Completely unpredicted

A switched flipped to off

Severed a mind conflicted

Gone was the dream

And desire to commit

Gone was the love

I knew I had to quit

Thursday Thirteen Cakes

If your inner artist is suppressed, unable to find a way to release, it will covertly exude in daily life! For my Fifth Thursday thirteen I'm presenting thirteen cakes, all but one was homemade by a goddess. One was bought for a goddesses grandsons first birthday. As you can see he was in fine form celebrating just as a one year old should!

Gypsy goddess carefully decorated this beautiful cake for my special birthday!
I'm a huge fan of heart shapes, cards and the color purple!
It's official I'm the Love goddess, check out my crown!
Who wouldn't feel like a goddess being presented this amazing cake!
I'm fortunate and blessed to be able to celebrate a few times for my special day. This is another cake made for me that same year! Also made by the Gypsy! More purple elegance for me! The first purple cake Gypsy ever made me evoked tears. It was reminiscent of the purple angel food cake my deceased mom made me on my third birthday!

Store bought Canucks hockey cake for a sweet little B.C. boy who could care less!
I think he just wants to chow down!
Gypsy made this cake too, yummy chocolaty delight!
Flowers for our Dream goddess who is also the flower lady!
Dream goddess made this one for me! Oh what joy seeing the little heart candles that resemble my art! Don't they suit me? This is such a magical cake!
Earth goddess made this cake, she didn't even use mud (earth)
It caused a huge squeal, by the pure whimsy of it!

This was a raspberry desert cake I made for my princess when she turned
twenty one! I made the most amazing cakes when she was little.
For some reason Sherrie lost her groove over the years!

Our dream goddess loves chocolate almost as much as she loves coffee!
Here is another flower decorated cake!
Hard to believe this cake took a tumble off the back seat
during the car ride to the beach! Still looks beautiful to me!
Fairy goddess put this beauty together!

This was the cutest cake, made by Dream goddess for Fairy goddess on her fiftieth!
Poking through the tiny fushia flowers was the most adorable fairy face!
This is a recent cake and it was scrumptious too!

Apparently my cakes taste much better than they look lately!
When Gypsy goddess blew out the candles
the mounds of toasted coconut flew like snow all over the table
garnering a howl from all! I may soon be famous
for the tastiest butt ugly cake on the planet!

Following along with my butt ugly theme, I made this really tasty
homely looking cake to announce my daughters elopement!
You can't see that it's shaped like a heart!
While the kids were off getting married,

I went to dinner with my girls to celebrate their nuptials!
Okay I'm busted, these are the same recycled yellow Styrofoam flowers used on three cakes now! Don't worry I scrubbed them clean! See... I just don't have that cake making pizazz anymore! This was made for Gemma a fellow blogger whose birthday fell on our first meeting!
Gypsy Goddess made this delicate fall cake in full bloom. What a perfect way to end Thursday thirteen! My wonderful suppressed artist friends all have panache in whatever they do! My hats off to goddesses who can wow me with their cakes! As for me, I can promise to make it taste good, add a Styrofoam flower, but that's about it!

Writers Island " impulse"

Writers Island prompt is Impulse
Rare

It was nothing ordinary

With giggles

And gropes

Frozen moments of

Immeasurable hopes

Girlish fantasy

Churning angst

Whirling with lust

Igniting passion

Prepared to combust

Over compensating

Inferior toil

Routine madness

Brick after brick

Compiled in sadness

Stolen kisses

A secret wish

She’d never implore

It was just an impulse

She'd want to ignore

Tag and my Shoe art!

I drew one shoe and then digitally enhanced it as many ways as I could!
I really enjoyed this project and I will be doing many more shoes for sure!

Forgetfulone tagged me for this wonderful meme! I liked it and hope you do too! Thanks for the tag!

Here are the rules:

1. Each player answers questions about themselves.

2. At the end of the post, tag 5 people by posting their names.

3.Go to their site/blog and leave a comment telling them they've been tagged. Invite them to your site/blog so they can read the tagged post.

4. Let the person who tagged you know when you've completed your tagged post.

1. What were you doing 10 years ago?

I was in the throws of a very messy and scary divorce. Trying to protect myself and my child!

2. What are 5 things on your "To Do" list?

Get Bedding plants, ready the pots
Finish a couple of cards, buy envelopes to mail out my packages
Make three important phone calls I know will take a long time!
paint on a vest for summer weather
Tweak my blog, condense things, and check links and such

3. What are 5 snacks you enjoy? (In no specific order)

Cookies and cake
fruit or yogurt
popcorn is my favorite but I rarely eat it anymore my stomach won't let me!
cheesies
onion and chive cream cheese with crackers

I love Gelato so I am sneaking it in, under treats! Okay I guess that should fit on the first and fourth line!

4. Name some things you would do if you were a millionaire.

Funny thing is a millionaire isn't such a big deal anymore, an average house in B.C. in Vancouver, that's a regular three bedroom house nothing fancy, goes for six hundred and fifty thousand dollars. If you have two houses you're a millionaire!

But if I had had lots of millions!
Give thanks for sure! Sponsor children in third world countries. Buy myself a black convertible mini cooper, get my car fixed and sell it to put towards a car for the kids, buy my kids a honeymoon of their dreams!( Paris, and the U.K) Give a dear friend money. Get my house in top order! Contribute to abused women’s shelters setting up art therapy programs for children and women. Take some art classes. Get my teeth whitened and fixed. Help out a few others that have been more than kind to me over the years. Nothing anyone has ever done for me is forgotten! Buy lots of NEW BRAS!

5. Name some places where you've lived.
All in British Columbia ,North Vancouver, South Surrey, White Rock

6. Name some bad habit you have. Gosh do we have to, nothing like putting this ugliness into cyber space!! yuck.!

Spend too much time in front of my computer
Odd sleeping patterns….not always my fault though
Talk with my mouth on the phone
Way too opinionated, have been known to talk too much!
Terrible gage of time, late too often
I used to be the "Queen of gas", figures that it would stop just about the time any gas is worth a fortune!
Unfortunately their are way more! Procrastination!

7. Name some jobs you've had.

Hairdresser’s helper
Cashier
Sold avon and brite music when I was young
Worked with a caterer when I was kid
Meat wrapper

8. Name those whom you are tagging.
I am tagging those because I am really curious about your answers. Even though I'm not usually that curious of a person!!

Sunday Scribblings " Life behind Flowers"

Sunday Scribblings prompt is soar/sore! I had been working on this poem all week under the prompt of "faithful" for writers island, nothing was working. Some days words just flow some weeks it's grueling! We often go through life assuming a persons life is la dee da simple! Often when we take a closer look we see something much different!

Life behind the Flowers

Diligent at her creative skill

Committed to the daily drill

Hoisting buckets filled to the brink

Scrubs, refills them in the sink

Some think she’s there, just to serve

That blatant ignorance hits a nerve

She trims, arranges, restocks removes

Inferior foliage she disapproves

Orders, phones calls, are demanding

Arrivals, departures need commanding

Interruptions from patrons and staff

Commandeers a disparaging laugh

She’s a daughter, sister, caring friend

A Mother, boss, with much to contend

An essential on holidays she’s always present

At times those days are most unpleasant

Compassionate to those who need to grieve

Her "Mother’s day" is no reprieve

At times her body feels such defeat

With aching back and very sore feet

Expertly she forges through the day

Enjoying the flora in her own way

The constant action stave's off the mundane

but it’s the creative interlude that keeps her sane!
