"Manette" a card made from a cheerio box |
I did the artwork on a separate mix media page then
modge podged it to the cheerio box card.
I used sparkly modge podge because it was
all I had!!
Cupcake found "Manette" on the above card kind of freaky,
she didn't like it at all. So I gave my friend two cards.
Despite how Cupcake felt, my friend loved
the Manette card best!!
"Tea lady" relax, kick up your heels and enjoy your tea! |
I visited a blog where the artist named her painting of a girl," Someday." Then the other day I was speaking with my brother, which I've done a lot lately since his life is in crisis. He spoke of getting a tattoo....
Not that I don't think he should do it, the man has sculpted his body to perfection almost his entire life. Eating properly and working out almost daily since the age of twelve. It's no wonder he has a freaky god like physique for his fifty one years!!
He's quite vulnerable so I think he should wait until
he gets over the hump then do it!
For years now he has always said to his son " Someday" I'm going to get a tattoo here and here...as he points to his arm and back. Apparently he's been saying it for years, so the last time he said it, his sixteen year old said, " DAD, "SOMEDAY" is NOW!!" For me it's putting some of my wise sayings to artwork! I often hear people repeating my sage metaphors, my son in law has even put one in a song. They usually appear in the moment and I forget to write them down..... However I must try to recollect them to add to artwork. That's a goal I hope to achieve this year!!
What is your Someday? Even if it seems unattainable what do you want to do Someday??? I think writing it down gives the idea energy to grow!!

Hmmm. I've always wanted to sign up for the Culinary Institute we have here in the valley. Maybe some day. Love your paintings and thought process. Thanks.
Wow! That face is amazing. Very haunting. And I really like your big heart up top.

'Some day' is a great painting! We all have our some days tucked in the back of our mind that come to the forfront every now and then and remind us that theyre still waiting! Some day I will travel in a hot air balloon! Thanks for the reminder :) HPPF
Love your someday guy. Mine is exhibit, someday I will have the courage. Although since I have been blogging (7 months) my belief in myself as an "artist" has increased thanks to the wonderful supportive blogging community.
We shift too many things to "someday". Problem: our time is limited. So maybe today is tattoo time, closet emptying time or whatever. It feels good to do something now that you wanted to do for a long time. Happy PPF!
Good morning Giggles, or good evening depending on which it is for you. You've brightened up my morning with your beautiful bright colours and your thoughts. I love both cards, even though there is sadness in their eyes - but it reminds that as well as sadness in life there is also happiness to be found.
I love everything on this blog ...... and I do mean everything. Gorgeous chunk of laddie.
I don't have many 'somedays' to achieve - simply by being realistic these days .... but today's good news is that results this week of my latest cat scan show no signs of problems. Keep happy, and keep painting these fab pictures.
great quirky paintings happy ppf
Lovely post! You're so right, everyone has at least one "someday". I know I have several .... Someday I will start exercising, someday I will use up all that lovely yarn, someday I will open an Etsy-shop (although, that might come true next week ☺), someday I will teach a workshop, etc etc...
I love the cards you made and especially the tea lady. And it would be great to see your wise sayings included in your artwork! Just do it!
That's your 51 year old brother? Wow! Someday I would like to exercise regularly and have my pre-pregnancy body back! I like how your paintings are unusual and striking!
Love the faces especially with the 'bright' color highlights. Tell Bro that a tattoo's are just another form of art - while permanent - a reminder of the day we say 'It's my body' - might also help the crisis ! Happy PPF.
You have so upgraded that Cheerio box- their boring yellow predictable- but your Manette is fresh and energetic- General Mills should let you design their boxes!
gosh, don't know what to say about the tattoo! Guess it will be his decision in the end. Love the way you have repurposed the cheerio boxes into such colourful beautiful art.
Powerful and dramatic art work ~ great addition to the Cheerio box ~ Kudos to your brother ~ Your art style is vibrant and creative too!
Hello and great to visit here again! Your art is so vivid and full of character, wonderful! Someday....ah that is a thought, and yes things always start with a thought and then writing it down takes its first action step, as you say the energy starts up, one day would be fun to exhibit. For now I love just creating, blogging and sharing with all of you! Of course my main creations that need full on attention are my three children, they need showered with love and care every day!
Gorgeous art, love Manette...and those abs, well what's not to love? HPPF!
What a great way to deal with a cheerio box (after eating the cheerio's of course!). LOL. Happy PPF.
Another thought provoking post! I'm not sure what my "someday" is but you have me thinking.
LOVE the faces you did...and the different colorations.
(PS - your brother and my son have much the same body although my son is leaner but still very muscular...he will be 50 this year)
oh wow.. so many pieces that make me happy!
Happy WEEKEND
HAPPY PPF!
HAPPY PAINTING AND CRAFTING!

Cheerios have never looked so good! Your brother is quite a looker, too. I think you are right. A tattoo is not something you should get during any kind of crisis. Better to wait. I hope his troubles pass soon.
"Someday" I was going to get my PADI dive certification... and someday is NOW as I am working on it - done the pool learning. 1/3 through the e-course and the open water dives will be when I go South in March.
Love all your faces!
(As for tattoos though - NOT a fan. What a shame to wreck his beautiful clean body.)
Firstly - Manette is fab - he reminds me of early David Bowie or that type of androgynous male in makeup type figure!
Secondly - your brother is 51?? In that photos?? He looks fantastic - definitely proof that living well and looking after your body pays dividends! As for getting a tattoo - that blank canvas of his is crying out for a few!! I've got 8 now (all small ones but all meaningful to me (I designed two of them myself) and they really are quite addictive so warn your brother that once he starts he may find it difficult to stop!
My someday was the notion of writing a novel - I've now started 3 (the first got lost on an exes computer years ago) and I keep saying that someday I'll finish the other two or at least one of them! Now that we've moved up to Scotland before I end up finding a job maybe I should get going on that!
somehow your Manette reminds me of Cirque du Soleil-great energy! Your brother reminds me of my hubby-also has the same healthy habits and has a nice physique for 54 yrs-very disciplined. You got me thinking about "Some" day- but I don't even know what to say about it yet :)Happy PPF!
So very beautiful..gorgeous art..and cards..fantastical pieces..full of energy and color-drama which i LOVE! and adore about your works.
There are NO somedays for me..every day is pure magic..I totally feast on life..it is all we have in the moment! Beautiful post and words and insights! HUgs

Great post and love your cheerio paintings! Valerie
Thank you for letting me know my link doesn't work, have re-entered it differently this time and it should work....
Loving your ladies they have such brilliant characters and your brother is a gorgeous hunk, had to turn away as this old lady got very excited... Happy PPF, Annette xx
Love Manette, powerful and striking! Great pieces and your brother sure is a beautiful piece of art, too! :)
Sorry, I was going to comment on your lovely art but then I saw the picture of your brother and got kind of distracted.... 51? Seriously??
I'm just off back for another look - he really is rather handsome ;)
love the cards... and have to say that tattoos scare the bejeesus out of me... so permanent.. I have trouble committed to what I am going to make for dinner let along a permanent mark on my skin... and must admit to not being a huge someday person... figure I just cram as much into every day and things will sort them selves out... mind you Sinus is a big planner so maybe I have the luxury of going with the flow because of that... xx
First thank you for your lovely comment!
I love reading your posts and seeing what you do each week....
I try not to put things off to 'Someday' .... it makes me sad to think that 'Someday' might not come!

The cards are wonderful - full of color and personality. HPPF
I like Manette. She looks very chipper. I'm glad your friend liked her too. As for "someday" at 78 one doesn't wait for someday. If it's worth doing, we do it now.
What a great way to recycle cereal boxes. I love your bold color palette too. As to my "someday," it's to travel around the world. /:-}
ok, first of all, tell your brother he's fucking gorgeous. There. Now on to other things...
that face you painting is AMAZING. love everything about it. And that woman, relaxing with a cup of coffee (or tea) - when i saw that, i thought, "does she realize how her style has evolved in such a short while"? (by *she*, i mean *you*) Beautiful work! So vibrant... xox
wonderful to see your art.
and to see your brother! so awesome when people take such good care of themselves! warm hello to you ~
Fun post. My Someday just came.. got chickens. :) Nice use of a cheerios box. HPPF
Love the idea of sharing your wise sayings in your artwork! Do it! Until recently a major someday for me was to start painting and find a way to share that with others. Paint Party Friday has certainly helped with that! BTW - Manette doesn't scare me and the Tea Lady is absolutely wonderful! Happy PPF! - janice
I'm doing my someday now!
For years I said "I'd love to paint someday", and 18mths ago I finally picked up a brush :)
I have to admit that I still say I'd like to have a tidy house someday, but it's not something I really *want* to do ;)
By the way, I love your brushwork!
I love that lady with coffee cup and floating legs...your art rocks!!!
All your pieces are absolute beauty and I always have fun visiting you :)
Love your art! And your brother looks freaking hot. :) It's so funny it's his kid telling him to do it now. :)
O so true! There's always a 'someday' list...love your colorful works and esp the tea lady.
HPPF!
Love the relaxed girl with the mug of tea...makes me think of having my own resting on the couch ;) Lovely paintings as always :) xox Conny
Love your faces. One of my someday lists is drawing portraits.
Susan
I enjoyed seeing all you did to the Cheerios box. Terrific outcome. I'm clearing out my house after years and years of living. . . I'm going to be a New Person after. . . kind of scary. Blessings, Janet PPF
I love this post! So timely and encouraging. I too have always said some day I would get a meaningful tattoo, but that some day hasn't arrived yet!
I try not to put of things, but I often have a tomorrow attitude (tomorrow I will do....) Thank you for reminding me tomorrow is my todays! x
My 'someday' is now- wouldn't want to be anywhere else or doing anything else. Very though-provoking post. If that's your bro at 51- then I wish I were 15 years younger- and I think a smal tattoo in the right place would engance that bod! Happy belated PPF.
Your brother is awesome. Your painting is even more awesome. Your someday post is the most awesome of all. Someday I will quit saying "awesome". :) xoxoxo
Love your resourcefulness with those cereal boxes! Someday I would love to actually USE all the scrap odds and ends I am collecting for that "something" I envision to create from it.
