Digging Deep Paint Party Friday

Most of my daughters childhood she rarely touched a utensil except to clear it, wash it or load the dishwasher. During home economics she  made a few recipes only because she had to.  She got an "A" as usual!  She jested about her disdain for cooking and how she had no desire to learn. In fact her hubby, then boyfriend did all the baking. My sister in law joked with her constantly about how the two of them couldn't cook, and never would.

One day out of the blue my girl started to cook, it was  amazing. She'd ask a few questions along the way. Mostly she fumbled her way through the rest on her own.  I stayed positive knowing with trial and error she would adjust things as she learned.  I was so grateful she took reigns relieving me from the daily monotony!!  The sauces she now comes up with  are so delectable. Everything she puts together  tastes phenomenal!

I wanted to paint this face a rainbow of colors but it never happened still working on it.

Cupcake  has carried a camera in her purse taking photos at every opportunity since she was thirteen years old, thousands and thousands of photos. Spending every dime she made on developing all her photos before digitals became available!! Now she informs me she loves taking food photos!! Wow, right out of left field that one came! With instagram she is able to share her food.

Years ago my ex wanted to buy me paints and canvases but I bucked him. I had no desire to paint. Yet I bought books on how to draw, I have one so old it's yellowed. I also bought loads of calligraphy pens  and sharpies just to doodle with. Still outside of sewing, crocheting, and making cool cakes and painting bright colors on furniture and walls I had no desire to do any kind of painting or artwork!!

I tried changing colors hoping I could find a program to change the flesh into rainbows.

The moral of this story is, explore that which you are most opposed to trying. That thing you have an aversion to. Pay attention to those feelings that make you feel so good but you don't know why! I have always loved colored glass...It makes me so happy and I don't know why! One day I walked into a stained glass store where they were doing stained glass and I almost felt a natural high. It's an expensive craft and at the time I couldn't afford it! Wish I had realized years ago  that  I had such a passion for stained glass, when money flowed freer and my hip didn't hurt so bad. I have other passions now, and no desire to try doing stained glass now. We have a vessel of gifts and talents not always recognized, so it's important to dig deep to find those talents that might bring extreme joy to our life!
