This is my contribution to paint party friday and art everyday month!I have been creative everyday although this is all I can share as I'm doing a project for a friend.
Monday I reminded Beardo to take his co-worker Banana Bread since his cousin was being laid to rest after a sudden motorcycle accident last week. Like mother, like daughter Cupcake reminded him too! Us girls felt so sad for this young mans loss.
This year a few of Beardos close knit coworkers have had recent break ups, so we sent goody bags to work with a banana bread for the boys. Someone is sick, they get a banana bread. It's our way of saying feel better soon, our heart is with you! We give it away as a "thank-you" or a "just thinking of you!" I have been making this recipe for 35 years. Everyone loves it so much. I 've made it as Christmas gifts when money was tight, I have taken it as house warming gifts. It was always raved about, requested and enjoyed!
The last few years I passed the torch and now Cupcake makes all the banana bread sometimes Beardo does too!! It is revered just as much as mine was, always with rave reviews! The last year Cupcake has shared the recipe with an out of towner and a few people she doesn't see often!
I saw a cute gift idea where an artist painted a small canvas then added a favourite recipe. Do you have a favorite recipe you make that you share or don't share with others?

Thanks for the recipe. Such bright colorful work. Love it! Happy PPF!
I love those couple ... they are awesome and thank you for the recipe -sounds very yummie.. think this whole lot of love makes it most delicious! the same ammount of love we can see in your painting!
I love Banana bread, and also have a favorite recipe. It's quite similar, and really, you're right in that the secret is over ripe bananas and love. Your paintings are fabulous, and the recipe over a painting idea is clever. A perfect gift idea.
Happy PPF!
Wonderful painting and that recipes looks great, I will wait till my bananas get really ripe. I have a vegetarian lasagne that everyone goes nuts over, and love is the secret of its success. Have a great week.
What a cute piece -- it looks good in all of the different color combinations too. Thanks for the recipe! I have so many old bananas in the freezer. I really need to bake!!
Wonderful story, and I love the artwork! How nice of you and cupcake to make bananabread when someone is having a difficult time. Thanks for sharing the recipe! My favorite recipe is browniecake a la Nigella Lawson. So very yummy I don't make it very often bcause we can't stop eating it ....
I love your drawings! Sweet your gifting to others! Of course they taste the LOVE!
Baked with love, it must be good. Hugs, Valerie
Loving the artwork and as usual the great writing which is always entertaining. Happy PPF, Annette x
Love banana bread and above all, your work!Happy PPF!
We love banana bread so we will definitely try your recipe. I will be sure to add the love as I do think it makes a difference in whatever we do.
I really like your girls. The eyes got me. I love big bright beautiful eyes. Have a wonderful week!
I pass along my husband's recipes. He is the cook and I clean up. It works for us. People love his chicken satay.
Wonderful! You tempt me with your bananabread, and I was thinking if you maybe could be kind to post the receipe.. :)) and you have done just that! thank youuu! :)
I hope your man's cousin will heal soon.
Lovely paintings! :)
Sounds delish. I make mine from my grandmother's recipe and it's always a hit. Sometimes nuts, sometimes not. xox
I adore the art here with the girls and the colors! Love to see how you change things up! That banana bread sounds delicious. I don't have much luck cooking it so I will try this version next time. Thanks for sharing! :)
Oh I'm getting hungry just reading this...your art is delicious too!
Thanks for sharing your treasured recipe! Nice art and you are such thoughtful wonderful people.
Banana is one of my favorites. Thank you for sharing your recipe and the secret ingredient. Love you art as always. :)
Love the vibrant art and the recipe looks delicious! Happy PPF!
Love your piece, so cute and great colors! That banana bread sounds delicious and not too complicated! Thank you for the recipe, I think I'm going to try it this weekend!:)
what a beautiful painting depicting kindness and friendship! I don't think I've ever run into anyone that doesn't love homemade banana bread-too few people make it anymore. You are so right-the key to the BEST bread is VERY ripe bananas. My recipe is almost identical to yours. So sorry for Beardos cousin-it just seems so much more tragic when a young life is lost.
I only have one recipe I haven't shared-for my dear departed French uncle's country pate. I was the only family member he shared it with-and I'm still the only one to make it for a French celebration-despite having to deal with raw chicken livers-UGH. But it's worth it just for the memories. Happy PPF dear one!
Really good painting and drawing. I think the first colour-way is the one I like best, although it is fun to see the changes. Thanks for the recipe, looking forward to trying it.
It's so wonderful to have the family involved in preparing food meant to nourish, comfort and delight friends. Thanks for sharing the recipe. It makes me want to start a baking tradition with my family and friends. I'll have to think about it. I already know the first ingredient will be love. :)
Lovely and yummy post and very nice and cute illustration, thank you for sharing!
I like your painting-great faces on those ladies. What a lovely thoughtful gesture and it's great that cupcake had taken up the tradition too. My mum makes banana bread which i used to love. I need to find a way to make it without the eggs though but thanks for passing on your recipe. Btw I'm delighted you've been able to get through to my blog recently!
i love your painting of the two girls/fairies/angels! So nice of you to make those banana breads for coworkers, family & friends. You have a huge heart. And thank you for sharing the recipe! i love banana bread. i'll be making this one soon. xox
love your latest piece and I love love love banana bread!!!! sounds scrumptious!!!!
I love banana bread, your recipe is very similar to mine. When it is cold outside there are few nicer things than a cup of tea and a slice of banana bread. :).....off to put the oven on ....
interesting progression of hues, have a nice Saturday
much love...
Yummy and great story along with the great art. Happy PPF.
I don't like bananas but I do love banana bread (especially with the "optional" chocolate chips). Love your painting - wonderful folk art piece! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
The banana bread you make must be really special and the secret ingredient must be love and all the good wishes with which you gift it! Hmm..painting a recipe on a canvas seems like a good idea. I may be able to write down South Indian recipes for dosa, idli, chutney etc.
Sweet couple in all the colors :) I will be giving that recipe a try... I used to make banana bread and lost my recipes and haven't found one I like as well yet... I'm thinking I may have hit the jackpot tonight ♥
Aw..how I wish I could try your bread, but no matter how much love you put in it, I have Celiac Disease. I can't eat it. :( I could try the recipe sometime with rice flour instead, but it won't be nearly as good as yours. What a sweet (no pun intended) gesture on your part..to spread the love like that, tho. I'm so sorry for your loss. xo
That secret ingredient is the magic that goes in all recipes!!
My family is crazy about my Tiramisu - the recipe is from Italy and doesn't contain any alcohol, just espresso. It is incredible yummy, but it also makes you fat!! Caution is in order!
Amazing painting with the different colored versions! Especially I like the second one! Thanks for this lovely post!
Nice little ladies you have painted ;-)
This is such a sweet thing!!! I will try it! And as always, your art is so cheerful! ♥
I'm not much of a cook or baker, so no secret recipes to share... but I do like simple easy things. Here's a favorite: 4 or 5 chicken breasts, dusted well with mustard powder on one side and garlic powder in the other side. Place on a hot pan with olive oil, low/medium fire, and cook sill they are gold.
your painting is wonderful, and love the recipe idea too! Our family favorite is sweet rolls with cinnamon and frosting. xo
How sweet of you to share your recipe. I used to love to bake, but I haven't done it in a while. Good of your family to make it for people when they're hurting. It's a beautiful gesture. Your painting is very sweet, both of the girl's hair styles really appeal to me.
I love your sweet painting of the two little friends caring for and loving each other. Yes, I always cook with love in everything I make - it would be a chore otherwise, instead of a pleasure. My gift is always home-made jam tarts, very simple but always appreciated, and I like to vary the pastry decoration I add on top of the jam - hearts, stars, trees, roses, etc, to suit the occasion.
As always, I enjoyed reading your post and enjoying the lovely happy family group you have. XX
This is such a thoughtful and kind gesture that you and Cupcake do to make others day. Thank you for the recipe Sherrie. I'm going to try it one of these days.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family
Susan
The banana bread sounds delicious, and I think food is a great way to show you care. I can cook and bake, but don't do it that often. Blessings!
Hey I maid a banana and walnut cake yesterday and also added some chocolate chips to it...it was yum :)...beautiful art which always works to uplift my spirits !!
Oooooh, I LOVE the love added to it! Thank you for the recipe - I've always wanted to try banana bread! AND thank you for the children's book idea - you made me smile as always. LOVE your girls here too - they also seem to be full of love, xoxo
Ah Giggles such a sweet story and the recipe looks so very yummy! I love to eat my ripe bananas mashed, squezzed some lemonjuice over it and sliced some bazilnuts over it :) Your painting is so super sweet!! love the interacting it includes ♥ Conny

I am definitely going to try this! I love banana bread but need a good recipe. So sweet how you share it with everyone. In our family my Aunt Dorothy's apple cake says love. In fact, I was working on a post about it just the other day. We may have to do some sort of recipe link-up! Hope all is well and that you and your precious kids have a wonderful Thanksgiving! xo, janice
Oh, I'm so glad I went back two weeks in Paint Party Friday, so I found this special lovely post of yours! Just what I needed, smiling big and going to bake banana bread maybe already tomorrow :-)
I loooooveee your piece of art you share for the week I would love to have a print of it! Would you make a swap with me? I'll send you some nice painting/drawing that you love… like a portrait of your daughter?
It would make me very happy!
I love to bake "kardemommekringler" (cardamom-pretzels) it's a Danish recipe with yeast dough, not the traditional pretzels, it only has the form of pretzels. Mostly I bake them for birthdays and sometimes in between ;-)
Have a wonderful weekend!
And I knew the secret ingredient! <3
