A card made for Dream goddesses Birthday! |
When I was very young I made slightly higher wages than my husband but we pooled our money. Although other men balked at my making more, hubby was glad I did!
Yet, when I proudly paraded a new outfit for him, instead of admiring it as I prayed he might, he demanded to know the cost. Disappointed, I wished just once he'd say the new attire looked lovely. Twenty five years, it never happened. When other men nudged him to say " pretty wife," he felt proud. Even though I was complimented by others, it was his adulation I sought!
Once Cupcake was born, I could buy anything and everything for her without a negative reaction! Thankfully not once did he ask the prices! He paid little to no attention to what I spent on her! Which was such a relief. It was the eighties and I enjoyed buying our little princess pretty things! It wasn't unusual to see me dive to the bottom of a bin in search of the perfect shoes to match her outfits! I was frugal about some things, yet not about others and it was ALWAYS about the COLOUR!!
This is my example of a card gone wrong. It was so cool until I overworked it! |
Sadly it's pretty ugly in any color! |
My heart swelled with joy at how proud this man is of his wife, the sweet little girl I've adored from the moment she was born. Somehow this man can make a plain black Costco sweater seem so fabulous as his eyes twinkle with pride! That my friends is what brings me the most joy!! That my Cupcake has a man that truly knows and understands what she needs. He supports her choices and truly thinks she's as wonderful as I do!
What simple little things in life make your heart swell with joy?
The Dream Goddess |
Once I found the face I built it up with modge podge and tissue paper. It was so fun to do that I plan on doing a series of these Goddesses. Depending on what appears in the acrylic. I will of course have to wait to again build a mess of paint like this on my palette, possibly a few weeks.

Your stories always pull me in. I become a part of your blog/life when I read your posts. I really like your Dream Goddess. You never cease to amaze me. Have a wonderful weekend.:)
Hi Giggles. As you know I always get inspired, or great info, or just some little insight to who you are. I love these dreamer pieces. You are right never too late.
Have a very nice weekend

Such a good story!!! I bet your daughter is cute as pie!
That is gorgeous! I so know that feeling of disappointment, my ex was like that too! My heart swells when someone looks at your work, and even if or before they say anything their eyes light up! Have a great week.
Great post again, love all the texture i your work! Hugs, Valerie
What a difference the right husband makes, huh? Cupcake's hubby sounds like a darling. I'm sorry your ex was a meanie. :/ 25 years..wow. Patience is definitely your strong point, dear.
The new artwork is reallllllly cool. Looking forward to seeing the rest of this series. :)
There's nothing better for a mother to see people loving her children. Wonderful Beardo.
The art as always, fantastic!
Right now we need peaceful, colorful images like these!
Happy PPF weekend!

It's wonderful that cupcake's husband is so supportive and so in love with her. Good men like that are thin on the ground. My dad is like that with my mum-they've been together since they were 16 and are 80 now and he still adores her and I'm very lucky that I've found a diamond in my husband too (although I did lads a few frogs before funding my Prince! )
I love this textured goddess-impasto is my favourite for acrylic your piece is fabulously textured-you should definitively do more of these!
I first thought you used papier-machee ... It looks great, as do your other dreamgirls :-)
Your artwork is always just my kind of thing, I love the way you use colours and patterns to make a picture. I especially like the second photo of the first Dreamer (wonder which one is the original?) and I like your second Dreamer very much too, I don't think it is over-worked, I think is has lots to look at and admire.
What a great photo of your third lady in your colourful corner, love that lamp and your curtains.
Of course I enjoyed your writing too.
Happy PPF and PPW (Paint Party Weekend).
Your experiment turned out really great. It looks lovely there under the lamplight.
Fabulous story!
And your goddesses are amazing!!
There is no greater feeling than to know your child is truly loved. I am so glad that you can see that every day. Lucky Cupcake and lucky Beardo. Whenever my grandchildren run to me with open arms calling my name, I am overjoyed.
I love your last painting. It is truly beautiful.
To be acknowledged and appreciated, that's so important, and loved, too!
Powerful, colorful textures make dreams come true!
You always have such an interesting post to read. Glad you are now working on making beautiful art and you have both Cupcake and Beardo in your life. I love your lady, and I love how you reuse some waste to make that beauty. Very green.
what a lovely story about your daughters dress and husband. I like all the layers of paint it looks like lava
Very cool experimental piece, I love the textures. All your dream girls are fabulous!
It looks gorgeous with all those beautiful colors! You have placed it nicely as well.
As usual loved reading your post...and I did connect at places too :)

Sherrie, I always get something from your writings. It's like a cross between a college class and a good sermon. Fortunately, I had the most loving and generous and wonderful husband on earth. He begged me to go buy things and he always bought me very nice gifts, things I was too frugal to buy. I am sorry everyone doesn't have that feeling of being special in their marriage. I am so glad that Cupcake found exactly the ideal guy. How wonderful that he also loves you, the mother of his special woman! I like your colorful art as usual. I think the Dream Goddess turned out great.
Absolutely beautiful! I love your posts. Your story and images are delightful!
Bob Ross says, there are no mistakes, just 'happy accidents' but then he paints landscapes, lol. I love the Goddess and look forward to more. Blessings, Janet PPF
I love that you always use bright happy colors in your art. Your little art piece done on cardboard looks great on the table...it fits right in.
One of the things that makes me happy is how proud my husband is of my art. He just beams when someone gives me a compliment on it.
Beautiful dream goddess! Its fun to just create and see what beauty it can bring. Lucky Cupcake! And Lucky You to know that she is so well loved and taken care of.

I love your beautiful dreamer art-it is so full of hope and faith and life and color-just like you! That textured piece looks amazing too. What a blessing to be able to share all of you with Cupcake and Beardo. Happy PPF!
It's a beautiful plaque!
Your art is so you, full of character and colour, wonderful authentic art!
I agree with Cupcake - that last piece is really special - love the dreamers too. Thanks for your lovely comments on my blog - I always take away so much from your posts.
Being supported in any pursuit by that special someone is priceless. I'm happy for Cupcake!
As always, your work is just so bright and beautiful!

Luv the placement at the table really nice
Have a good weekend
Always happy when you stop over at my blog
Much love...
Great art again and so happy that cupcake is on of the lucky ones with a husband who appreciates her.
Beautiful theme for this artwork! The dream goddesses look lovely and so vivid!
Wonderful paintings and I love your stories. :) Cupcake is one lucky girl.
Cupcake is so lucky to get someone who understands and knows her. And dear Sherrie I guess you were lucky that your husband didn't interfere when you bought things for Cupcake.
Have a lovely week

Oh what a lovely story, Giggles. You must feel so proud and satisfied that your daughter is happy. Your dreamer piece was fun to create and so beautiful. Thanks for all of your shares. Have a lovely week.
Wonderful dreamer painting! Even the second has merit with it's fabulous colors! I think the little words of kindness and appreciation are like presents! I remember those little words long after their utterance :)
Ohhhhh! I LOVE that story so so much. I love that couple ;) and love how close you all are. Lovely art too, I totally dig the texture you've created with the paint.
Oh, and no, I have not seen Shameless, but I totally want to! I I saw a lot of the images from the show when I was googling quotes for the piece and it looks right up our alley too! Have a great week! oxox
