Going Back Paint Party Friday

Seventeen years later my former dream home that I enjoyed for nine years is again for sale! I had a jaunt through the photos. Reminiscing the wonderful times spent there raising my daughter.  A time I strove for perfection! A time when life was very social and full of excitement. Not always in a good way either!

Life has changed, I have changed, big time! Sadly there were a few changes to the house too! Not quite enough, and not in a good way! Viewing the photos I felt like walking into a time warp! Plush pink carpets in some of the main rooms! The wrong colours blended....although they are light colours it was an artists version of finger nails against a chalkboard!
Cupcake and I  knew we could never go back. Feeling grateful for where we are even though my former dream home is worth twice what my place is now! Sometimes there is just way more value in having less that is more suited to your lifestyle. Sometimes it's better to be grateful for what is, rather than what isn't!
We need many upgrades to this place, even so, it still has more comfort to offer than our old place! Both physically and mentally!

I love my place, but I dream of winning the lottery home and having a suite so the kids
can have there own space with a large back yard for their children to run in. Yet where we live everything is so incredibly convenient, within walking distance and very affordable!
Sometimes the dream changes and that's okay.
It's good to realize several dreams in your lifetime!

Do you love where you live? Do you wish you could go back to another place in time????
 What are your new dreams??

I love your art and all the different combinations, always fun to see!
A couple of times we had gone back to some of the places we have lived, it is fun to see the place after years, but no, I would not go back. :oD

I'm content in my home; my first and only purchased and now paid for home. It's not big, it's just right, we've made improvements over the years and they make it even more attractive and comfortable. We live in a small town, we like it here. I have no desire to live elsewhere. My kids think ahead and want us to plan for the "next stage of our lives", but I rather stay in denial about that for now. If a time comes that we need more help and have to move then we will find the right place for ourselves. For now it's bliss in "home sweet home"! I love your colorful, whimsical drawings!!!

Great post, as always. I just have a tiny appt, but I am happy here, I'm near the Rhine, and it's good. We need to go forward, and be happy, not more. Hugs, Valerie

Too many dreams to mention! I don't think I would like to see what folks have done to my previous houses. Its amazing what memories are stored in houses.

I always love the big teeth in your figures :-) I don't like where we live at the moment, it's not our own house and we're just staying here until we find something of our own. Which might take a longer time than I want to think about .... I think with fondness of most of the homes I've lived in (and I've lived in many)but they belong to a certain time in my life that is gone now, and I wouldn't want to go back ...

I think sometimes even if the house seems perfect the memories are what make it so rather than the bricks and mortar. If you had times there that weren't so good they would surely tarnish how perfect the house was? I don't have any previous houses that I miss particularly - I do love my family home and my parents still live there so I still get to visit. Where we live now is perfect - the location and the lifestyle we live here ensure that the memories we have here so far have all been wonderful and we knew it was the house for us as soon as we walked in to it - for which I'm very grateful. Love your quirky characters as always.

Your art is full of funk and character, just great!
I've lived in this small but happy home for 14 years now, it's small but oh so convenient and overlooking green and a beautiful forest in front, right in the little village. My lads go to school alone, they just get a bus and are 10 minutes away. We walk every day with Lulu to school as the nursery and primary are right in the village, this makes life nice and easy!
I'm very content with what we have and count my blessings!

I love where I live except in the winter. The roads are gravel and they get icy and then muddy so its hard to get out and walk in those seasons. Plus there is still so much to do to finish off the house-well as I change the house of course changes too. So that always makes work. Love your pieces again this week. Have a great weekend and happy spring.

nice art! I love my home but I know I should start thinking long term of some kind of downsizing.

Hi Sherrie. Love your characters and their eyes. The colors are great as well. I don't like the area we live in, but I do love our "paid off" home and wouldn't want to start over so to speak. I have pictures of homes from the past but I try not to dwell on the past and just think of how thankful I am that we are at this point in our lives. Life is great, but goes by too fast. Have to enjoy it now. Love your posts. Take care of yourself.

There's a difference between a house and a home, and you, my dear friend, are the blessed owner of the second. My wife an I love our home, where we've lived for nearly 16 years. However, we'll probably eventually move since the girls will probably end up in a larger urban area with their professional careers. Blessings to you and your lovely family!

Your art is always so much fun! The color play and the whimsy of it! :) Daniel and I were talking about this the other day. We've lived in Savannah for nine years now, but we never really made the move completely. We came from New Mexico, which we loved and moved for Daniel's work. While I love our house, Savannah is beautiful and we live near the ocean, part of me still feels like I'm just passing through. I do love our house that that - more than the town or the area - feels like home to us! :) xoxo Silke

I always enjoy seeing all the color changes in your wonderful quirky characters! We are fairly content with where we are but my dream will never change-and that's to be by the sea. I have so many fond memories of previous homes growing up, including grandparents and great grandparents homes. I've looked at a few of them at times when in the area but sadly the neighborhoods-and the homes have gone downhill and it's not so safe anymore. I'm happy to stick with the memories.

Time has a way of changing our minds and our locations. You will do well wherever you land. Your art makes me happy!

Great post, Sherrie. Yes, I do love where I live even though it takes more time to get to other places like the grocery store than my former house. We had this built to our liking with individual rooms, not the great openness that most modern houses have. I love it this way and hope I can stay in it the rest of my life.

I am living in my dream home now, we made a fresh start 19 years ago and moved here and I love it. Its now way to big for just the two of us, and I am up for downsizing to place we don't have to cut the grass, or shovel the snow, and that has no stairs. But the hubster is not ready yet.

Colorful and fun and lovely paintings :)
Yes we change a lot during a whole life time.. who knows where we are in the end.. Yes I could imagine another place. I try and like my place, but I know it's too small.
I wish you one day will obtain your dream and get what you want.

I love where I live... the house itself has a lot of issues but I love my yard and garden :) Of course to find a place that would fill both is always a DREAM ♥

What a wonderful, thoughtful post! My husband and I bought my grandmother's house 27 years ago. It is where my mother was raised, and I spent many, many childhood times here in this house. We live in the country, surrounded with pastures and woods, with two ponds - though one is almost dry. We have raised our children here - and two are still in school, so the "raising" continues. I love it here, it is truly embedded on my heart, and the nature around me inspires me every day. I can't imagine ever living somewhere else :)

I love my life right now. I've lived in many places and various cities, and I've always felt at home.

I've got plenty of nothing and I've learned myself that less is more in material.
As long as there are love, family and friends, I'm rich.

Great variety of women again ;) Home is where my heart is and as I moved in the past I never wanted to go back although I missed having my friends nearer because I made a lot of kilometres ;) At the moment I am moving again and am excited and looking forward to my new studio and flat nearer to my friends again and hope to stay there for at least a couple of years because moving is a lot of work and in the moment it happens very emotional to me. Have a nice weekend ...

For a house to be a comfortable home depends on many things - who lives with you, what the neighbours are like, is it quiet most of the time, does it have a garden, is there enough space and so on. So far my current home scores 10/10.
What interesting subjects you raise every week.
Love your intriguing colourful people and clothes, especially the green frock with purple spots.

I'm not sure if I love where I live although it is very nice. I always remember the homes I used to live in. Nostalgia is so sweet and plays tricks on the memory. Happy PPF

I love our home. It is small, imperfect, always a work in progress, full of life and love. The back yard is full of boy-inventions... a true mess to the untrained eye... but a treasure to the boys who daily add to the "mess" as they express creativity and discover that gravity will indeed bring you (and whatever you built) down to meet mother earth at some point:-)

Hello Giggles, Your art is wonderfully vibrant! I love my home! I built it and have many memories here. its the most perfect place for our family.

I know I can depend on you for a good dose of vibrant color and whimsical images. And also for thought-provoking questions.

For the most part I'm happy where we live now...the only downside is the HOT summers. As I get older I would like to have a smaller house with less upkeep.

Such diverse color choices! I love the flower. It's interesting to think about the places I've lived...

Great colors you have here. About "somewhere else"...you know, the grass is always greener...til you get there. I sometimes have to remind myself to be grateful for the present, and not wish too much for the past or future. Always enjoy reading your posts. Love the security system you speak of in last post.

Just got caught up on all of your latest posts, and enjoying all of them along with your art! Art is amazing because it is like seeing a little bit of what goes on in the artist's brain. Your brain is bright, a little kooky lol, and fun! By the way, your blogging is not narcissistic, but introspective and full of thought, and a wish to share a little of the wisdom learned over the years.
