Happy 4th Birthday Paint Party Friday Selfie

 Happy 4th Birthday
You have been a treasure of inspiration and fellowship for artists!
Thank you Kristen and Eva for your beautiful devotion to this wonderful site!

I have been avoiding  my selfie  at all costs to the point of  sabotaging any attempt to create one. I have been doing anything and everything but the dreaded selfie. I am not much of a selfie girl these days!!
Digital me!

I do my hair and  makeup when I leave the house! Don't want my nude mutt and squirrely hair to be blamed for someones car crash or heart attack!

I know, I know. you doubt I have  squirrely hair... trust me... I am a scary artist some days! Bra-less  when I am home alone!! They are my built in security system!! Wards off  strangers that would  attempt to bother a women in the creative half of her life!

Of course I'm going to put my best face forward for this party!! Please excuse my wonky eyes though, just consider it my party face! After all don't we all have a wonky eye after a few drinks!

In Honour of Paint Party Fridays Fourth Birthday after a failed attempt at a very strange looking acrylic that looks NOTHING like me I created this digital piece, and the ones above. Not that the green haired me, or the Happy Birthday me do either! But I needed to participate!

I used to be a homemade apple pie in a purple kitchen!
I have passed the torch to my  to  Cupcake!
Now I'm a cane wielding mess in
long black  paint splattered shirt dresses to my knees.
Also known as sleep shirts...shhhhh don't tell.
Surrounded by paint splashed towels, journals, books, art supplies
that often become as hilly as my breasts, begging to be straightened.
On occasion, and I say that lightly, as it only happens when guilt
actually takes out it's boot and  kicks my butt.
Pretty much after the rest of the house has been cleaned and
I am still buried in a mess of art supplies I feel forced
to straighten my pile  in a polite attempt to
be a considerate partner of my house mates!

Thank you all for visiting and contributing such thoughtful kind comments!
I appreciate each and every one of you and have made some
beautiful friendships! So happy to have met you all!

I sure admire those who create good selfies, such as Pauline who created an amazing series for  29 faces in February that I love! And Tommy Kane who has  many artists create their version of him!  Also an amazing series you might want to check out and participate in!

How about you, do you find it difficult to create selfies?

It must be my narsisistic tendencies because I love drawing Selfies. Some of mine make me look older than Mathusiala , which for me is a good thing as no one ever believes me when I tell them my age. It's just good laughing at myself fun. If we don't laugh we cry and enough of that already, right?! Yours are all terrific, especially the one that looks the most real! Me thinks you don't give yourself half the credit you deserve! HPPF! This is one fun ride! And yes, I have drawn Tommy Kane multiple times!

Great selfies. I hate selfies, which is a bit mean of me as I am drawing and painting others all of the time. I had trouble with my eyes too!

Nice work on all your selfies. Specially like the one with the lime green hair, she looks ready to go into her art studio or anywhere else.
Love the description of you and your studio.

I Love your selfie, and it is so good to see you! I seem to have birds nest hair atm which would go well with your squirrely look :) Self portraits are tough. I really understand the arty materials mound around you as that is how I have been living for the past weeks. I am so glad you can travel the world through blogging and share so much.

Love seeing the faces behind the art. I enjoyed all your views, even the realistic one. Don't think it'd cause much of a heart attack on the road-ha-ha. Have a great weekend.

Self portraits are fun, sometimes it's good to be curious about oneself...at least that's how I'm trying to convince me.

You are truly colorful!!

Oh wow, you are beautiful inside and out. I tried. . .didn't work so I drew absolutely exactly what I look like, lol. Blessings, Janet PPF

I think your self-portraits portray your natural good looks and heart, showing that you've aged beautifully. Your bold use of colors and heartfelt words have always represented that. Happy PPF and Blessings, my dear blogging friend!

I love digital you - you have a real sparkle in your eye! I forgot about the selfie challenge for this week's PPF but also I don't really do human portraits (after my one poor attempt for the portrait competition a few years ago!) so I figured I'd just stick with what I know! Good on you for participating!x

You are beautiful inside and out, and your vibrant art always makes me happy. FAB self portraits!! I chickened out and just altered a photo a bit-not ready to draw one yet:). So thankful to have met up with you through the amazing PPF group!

Great digital selfie and fun colourful others. I especially like the Happy Birthday one - I can see similarities between it and the digital one!

You are too hard on yourself...

Thanks for joining in the fun!

Beautiful!! You are a gorgeous woman in photo and in paint! I know what you mean about being very relaxed when you are home painting. I do that as well and always have to get myself "together" before I leave the house... I missed the whole selfie challenge and posted a cow painting. That makes me laugh! :) xoxo Silke

You always make me smile - love those adorable selfies - creating an image of myself is the hardest thing to do. Either I come out way too young (I have a young soul!) or very strange looking. I am the cheapest model I know though! LOL. Have a great week

Love your delightful post, Sherrie. You said: "I do my hair and makeup when I leave the house! Don't want my nude mutt and squirrely hair to be blamed for someones car crash or heart attack!" I laughed out loud because unconsciously I think that's why I do a little makeup myself. I like all the self portraits.

Beautiful work!! I have never done a self portrait - I missed the memo on this one! Maybe I'll try one at a later date......

Ok, according to the digitals, which I believe shows the real you (for you are a very real person of ever there was one) there is no squirrely hair or possibility of car crashes or heart attacks here. Gorgeous just like Cupcake! I don't find that painting self-portraits have the same therapeutic value other subjects have... and that 's the reaon I paint: therapy. I have ended up tense and irritable after each attempt... so I decided I reaaaaally don't have to do it ever again! Therefore I posted one I was "forced" to paint in a class a few years ago.

Great art again. My attempt at a selfie could be used as a Halloween portrait so I just don't do them any more. I guess I should get over that really learn how to do portraits but I haven't mastered that skill yet.

Even though you don't like it you did a great job on those selfies! I don't like making selfies either, and lucky me: this week I had no time to participate in PPF so I escaped the selfie-making-thing ;-)
