Many times my art inspires the words! I reflect back to
youth when I was passionate about women and children's issues,
very vocal wanting people to understand an important perspective!
Your Turn
Women's issues are here to stay
Women's issues are here to stay
Can't wear flats on Cannes runway?
Sexism, continues in full bloom
Fourty years later, these matters still loom
Thought we had beat this devil down
inequality run by the patriarchal clown
Hard to believe these issues plague today
Young women rise up to have your say
I'm too tired for this century long fight
I worry that young women inheriting this plight
Complacently raised, apathetically benign
Need new energy to realign
to jar youthful women wide awake
to all those who've been aggrieved
to all those who've been aggrieved
To understand what's been achieved!
The flame has been out too many years
Young women need abashedly to change gears
Happy odd couple! |
Young women need abashedly to change gears
Relight that torch, once held with pride
Increase momentum, hold steady your stride
Women's issues that some have forgot
You've reaped the benefits of battles won
Now pick up your voices, and continue on!
What is an issue you are passionate about?
I know Nic is passionate about animals
and animal rescue,
how about you?
I know Nic is passionate about animals
and animal rescue,
how about you?

Fantastic post, 5***** today, love the words and pictures. Have a great weekend, hugs, Valerie
what lovely pieces! I support health care issues. A friend taught me to support the charities directly not through big companies like Walmart as they likely get the tax deduction.
I knew we were in for a good post by the first photo!
Thoughtful and gorgeously bright.
Oh I love all this colourful art! There is so much to be passionate about, but mainly I feel passionate about balance on all levels, people that care, respect towards others but especially towards yourself, knowing what you really need and simplifying, so as to be there and care for those who need you.
A beautiful day, a mellow sky, the swallows singing, my loved ones smiles, a colourful painting, the list goes on and on, simple wonders that stir the passion inside!
so much lovely art in this post - I love dreaming by the sea - her hair is awesome! Your poetry is always so clever and thank you for the mention!
Lovely art and words as well. I think every generation has to keep fighting. The issues seem to take new forms, but at the end of the day, it's the same battle as always.
I enjoy stopping by because of the variety of pieces you create through the week. So talented. The Colorful Happy Couple is my favorite. The mosaic look with the bright, happy colors makes me smile!
Love your poem this week, and yes, woman's issue are here to stay. I think even if we can't do anything big, just by speaking out we make a difference. And any difference, no matter how small, is important. Because small can build to something big. But you know that. Anyhow...Love your pieces. The colorful shapes and the girl by the beach are my favorites.
Fab post as always! Happy PPF! Gorgeous art! Thank you for joining Art Journal Journey Giggles!

wow- powerful words and art fill this post today! I heard about the wearing heels thing and couldn't believe it. I mean, really! I am passionate about several things so I try to do a bit for each much as I can. Animals and the elderly are my top ones-always have been.
oh, I so love your art this week Sherrie! I don't even know which one is my favorite, although dreaming by the sea comes close ;-) I hear you on women's issues. That's one of my passions (and frustrations!) also. As well as the environment and what we're doing to it ....
Wow! Really expressive words this week and somehow different art!? Colorful as usual but different, I can't put my finger on it. I am passionate about "owning private property" and not have associations tell you what you can and can't do on your own property! It is turning this country into Communists, doing everything in a communal way and wanting everything to be the same. Very scary to me!
What a great post. Wonderful work as well, so full of life. I like the way you think.
I love your passion for what you believe in, and your talent for putting it into words and drawing!! I think we are passionate about the very same things!
What a topic! I could go on and on, but for the sake of this blog comment I'll just say I love your artwork!! Made me smile, as usual. :) Great poem!! Happy Friday.
Such vibrant art and great words, too!
I love your artwork. It is so bright and beautiful.
I thank God for my Grandmother and Great Aunt Tillie, who were Suffragettes back in the 1920's.
Love your colorful art, Giggles. Happy PPF
Beautiful post (art and words). I believe that what needs to be accomplished now is R*E*S*P*E*C*T on the part of both sexes in order to straighten out the plight of women. I find no respect in any humans anymore. Just thoughts. . . .Blessings, Janet PPF
Thankfully that is one issue I have never run into personally. I think I have always been judged on ability not gender. I am passionate about the treatment of animals and the elderly. Now that I am in that latter category, I hope there are others out there who are caring about the treatment of us oldies... male as well as female. (I think some women who have made it in politics and other arenas have set the cause of women back by their haughty attitudes. Just my opinion.)
right on sista!! How dare they dictate our foot attire! I was outraged as well.. I do think women like many minorities will always have a fight to fight.. and fight we shall!! I'm passionate about helping women value themselves! (amongst many other topics) but that I am privileged enough to work with so many women in both my jobs I feel it's my duty to help empower them! LoVE popping in and being inspired ALWAYS by you and your beautiful art!! xoxo
Hi Giggles! I love the colorful artwork along with a strong, beautiful reminder of our passions. Mine is women's rights, domestic violence and rape awareness. The stats are still way to high. Your words are so empowering and it was wonderful to read those words, born from passion for women.Thank you! Big hugs, Rasz #62
Love your thoughts as well as art, Giggles! Girl by the sea is gorgeous! I am passionate about being free - free to do things one likes and express what one likes without being hurtful to anyone. I am passionate about gender equality and freedom.
Love the art this week! Your sense of color and bold drawings make my heart smile and your words always make me think. At this point in time I am passionate about getting back to a more natural and healthy way of eating and living. I am convinced that the chemicals in our food and environment are the cause of so much illness today and you don't even want to get me started on medications :) Have a great week and now I"m off to ponder some more.
Giggles I always love to read your posts and see your beautiful artwork. The girl at the beach definitely held my attention this week.
I have always been passionate about children's issues but I am also very passionate about the importance of women taking care of themselves as they take care of the rest of the world. So many of the women I work with have forgotten how important they are. It is wonderful to see them begin to realize once again that yes, they do matter!
What wonderful pieces! They have a great energy. I'm not as passionate about causes as I used to be, but I still have a few...
I love your girl dreaming by the sea! I also love the colours in your abstracts!!
Wonderful and thought provoking post today. You are so consistently clear and about your beliefs. I like that! I love the first painting.
Haha, your sweet couple is sooo gorgeous! I love the roundness of the pink guy in the back as much as the vibrant green the turtle is wearing today!! Wish I could hear, what they speak about ;) ♥ Conny Mix It Monthly
So very true, we still need to woman's issues, I feel very strongly about equal wages.
Love your artwork and poem.
Hugs
Maarit
Another great post, Giggles, reading your posts is one of my Friday firsts.
Of course I love "Dreaming by the Sea", it's a beautiful sea and sky, and such a good painting of the girl, having her thoughts on the beach. I like her frizzy hair.
I admire the first painting very much too with a good message which could be linked to "Start as you mean to go on". I like the little blue teddy, he looks happy.
I'm passionate about too many things to mention here, one of them is the insanity of high heels, and another is the protection and care of wild birds.
love all your happy bright colours..hello happy
Powerful and inspiring post!
Your posts are always inspiring.Love what you created specially the pig.I guess I am passionate about so many thing specially art and animals.
I'm not sure if this is an issue but I think people should stand up for themselves more. It's something I'm working on.
Wonderful, another thought provoking post that I am so glad you have linked to Art It Friday - Show Your Face (thanks for the shout out too).
I am a passionate feminist, but I don't often share my politics and views online. I do however follow a lot of people, both men and women, with a feminist view point of twitter and I am often heartened to see that there is a strong voice for equality of the sexes coming through.
For all the trollers and idiots there are also men and women out there saying enough is enough. There is still a huge way to go but I really hope that I see true equality for humans of all flavours in my lifetime. It would be wonderful! Kx
Fabulous words and pictures. I always love how vivid your art is and how alive! I have felt very dis-spirited when I think about the sexism my own daughter of 21 has had to face. Sometimes nothing seems to have changed. She is fortunately very feisty and independent with strong beliefs in equality for all. I really love reading your blog posts. xx
