We All wore black paint party Friday!

This is the card I made for Dream goddess,
a coffee lover who also dabbles in bird watching!
Love this Photo of my friends, we have so much fun!!
One thing about my goddess friends of quarter a century
 we ALL LOVE color!!
Quiet squeals and giggles ensue
realizing we ALL wore black!
Of course we accessorized
with punches of pink, orange and white!
Unbelievable how connected our little group is!
This happens often too!
  I love that about us!!
Gypsy Goddess created the artful cake with flowers from her garden!!

This is the card I made for Beardo on the 5th!
He loved it, and of course there was piles
of mush inside cause I love him like my own!!
Last week I was putting away clothes
and changing my bed with the tv on for company.
Honey boo boo was on, our sad to admit
silly guilty pleasure.
Instead of bellowing from my room
to the kitchen downstairs,
I called Cupcakes cell from our land line!
Or so I thought!

I chimed "Honey Boo boos on!"
She said " pardon!"
Again I chimed,"Honey boo boo's on!"
thinking she'd be excited!
The voice at the other end  who was not my Cupcake
 said," I DON'T GET IT!"
Mortified.......I  " stuttered a few A's and hung up
hoping the girl on the other end didn't recognize my voice!!
With  my OLAD.......(old lady attention deficit.)
I had dialed my Cupcakes place of business that she manages,
instead of our kitchen downstairs......Oops my bad!!!
The perplexed girl on the other end sounded just like Cupcake...
the worst part was.....I had to TELL Cupcake............bites nails!!
I secretly told Beardo first , he howled, then insisted I had to tell her!
Cupcake was not impressed by my mistake,
but she too laughed pretty hard!
If her employee ever figures out it was me who called
telling her Honey Boo boos on
she'll soon know what renecks we are!! ;0)

This is my silly contribution for Paint Party Friday!

A Bird Day with My Goddesses

The Card made for Earth Goddesses Birthday!

For just under a quarter of a century I've gathered to celebrate every birthday with a group of five sage women! Over the span of the last decade we started calling ourselves the goddesses...and each took on a suitable name! At one point we all worked together save one who was in the same writers group as two of us!
This is Nature Goddess, she is just shy of  64! Unbelievable!! She looks even better now than she did four years ago! As an avid long distance biker/ hiker, she's outdoors every moment she gets!  Her home is near the beach with the most gorgeous view,  she holidays yearly in Mexico traveling all over the world whenever she can! She made the sailboat cake for our youngest Earth Goddess.
An avid birdwatcher, she  loves to race her sailboat! A decade younger than most of us she was born in the wrong era,  I think our comedic  Earth goddess would have made a great hippy!
This goddess could hold an audience as a stand up comedian, a writer or an artist with her innate humour that  often has us  in fits of laughter! So talented she has yet to tap into any of her gifts with any kind of enthusiasm!
It was very last minute that I crafted a card for Earth Goddess
knowing she loves quirky art!
This card was the perfect candidate for a digital color change  in my favorite Pixlr program! There is even a phone app for it, should you be interested!
Gypsy Goddess is an adventurous woman who does anything and everything fun! She loves to dress in costume or otherwise and celebrate anything but herself! Once she turned 50  she began boldly wearing  whimsical leggings which previously she was too timid to wear! Gypsy has a very fun bohemian flair, and the most amazing curly locks!
Constantly helping others  Gypsy has little time for herself. Yet she is a creative in every aspect of her life with the need  to exude her true artists nature! She's either baking a beautiful cakes for others, or  decorating a fancy table with leaves, candles and little characters!  She has written several yet to be published books over the years, does crafts, sews and has done a few gorgeous fun paper mache art pieces.  She's  an amazing photographer who loves the fantasy of  fairies and gnomes!

Our Faery Goddess is also a writer with several
unpublished books. She did her first triathlon a few years ago
and became a fitness instructor this year at 55!
Proving with lots of hard work,
dreams can come true at any age!
Often times as our dreams manifest
life throws us a curve ball. Faery is in the process
of waiting for heart surgery. You can read about
her journey here!
Dream goddess  is an amazing florist, can
 make anything look  beautiful
with her  natural decorators eye!
She possibly missed her true calling!!
A witty generous soul, Dreamer dabbles in art,
bakes beautiful cakes, and is a wonderful writer.
I've tried to encourage her to write a blog!
 A voracious reader Dreamer remembers
the most interesting scientific facts about diseases!
This wise goddess really thinks out of the box, I often
turn  to her for unique perspectives!!
Earth Goddess, Gypsy Goddess standing, Nature Goddess, Dream Goddess, Me Love Goddess, and Faery Goddess July 16th.

I love to celebrate these beautiful souls, other than family
what do you love to celebrate?
I no sooner gave this card to  Earth goddess and received
this beautiful card packed with postcard icads that I won,
plus a  wonderful unexpected gorgeous piece of shoe art
that I apparently inspired  from the lovely

Daily I get so much joy out of this
beautiful art sitting on my mantle!

Paint party friday, " Mom and the Goddesses"

I'm a cup half full person, however I never forget where I came from, and every tough hurdle that formed who I am! Tomorrow will be the twenty first anniversary of my mothers death. We had a difficult relationship, but there were so many wonderful things she taught me. Although our personalities were completely different,  I think I understand her much better now!!
Angel on my Shoulder acrylics in a sketchbook

So when I was picking shapes from splotches this girl with a little angel on her  shoulder appeared. It was a very intuitive piece! My daughter always feels my mothers presence when she travels alone.
My mother died never truly knowing me. She knew I was creative, calling me a great  homemaker (because I painted furniture bright colors, decorated fun cakes, sewed and crocheted) while my cousin was the  housekeeper. I always surrounded myself in color, yet never painted a stroke on paper until I was forty seven!! She died never knowing why I was so quirky growing up!!!

Funny how life continues to teach us!  My daughter is like  mom in too many ways to mention. Her wallet is stuffed with coupons like moms was  and she has everything except the kitchen sink in her purse.  At five foot three, a whole three inches taller than mom she totes a purse heavy enough to win gold medal at the purse carrying Olympics.

Cupcake has a gift of cooking intuitively like mom did. Even though I'm a good cook, my daughter is a step above me. She whipped up a sauce for a stir fry this week that was to die for!! I have gladly demoted myself to her sou chef!!

My daughter makes things happen like mom did, she loves travel, needs to get away to let her hair down, and is fairly high strung...like mom!! In fact mom and I bucked heads too often. While my daughter and I  thankfully are pretty  amiable.
Fit of Conniption Acrylics on Sketchpad

I really believe our kids are put on earth to teach us far more than we can teach them!! I used to think no one knows a child like the mother, I still believe it to be true when a child is young! However a question I've pondered of  late has been..... "do our children know us  better than we know them???"  I'd love feed back on this question...I'm fortunate that my  daughter and son-in-law know me so well!!

On a lighter note the goddesses gathered at  Mexican restaurant and had many laughs. My one friend let her young grandson eat all the sugar he wanted and was outed when he held his head with both hands and screamed "MOMMA, I've had too much SUGAR!!!" While she tried to shush him!!  My daughter is such a germ freak I often  threaten to let her kids lick door knobs!!  She doesn't have kids yet, but I'm using reverse psychology in preparation, just in case she has notions of me baby sitting full time!!  She doesn't by the way!!
We celebrated Earth Goddesses in the blue, behind her is Faery goddess and Nature goddess, I'm the Love Goddess in the black Sombrero, Dream Goddess who made the cake is beside me!! Isn't the cake fabulous!! It was coconut pineapple cupcakes hidden in a terracotta pot. It was so incredibly delectable, gummy WORMS and all!!

Have a great weekend!! You can visit more wonderful Artist
at Paint Party Friday, join in if you so feel inclined!!
I'm not sure where "Fit of Conniption came from" but I will tell you the same day I went out with my Goddesses was the anniversary date of that fateful day 16 years ago when crash, boom, bang, my   23 year marriage ended in a very crude way!!

I'll leave you with more edits and Burny the dog.... Come on now, you know I always have a dog on the blog!!!
Has anyone lost their blog list normally displayed
on their side bar ???
I'm so upset mine is gone, I'm hoping it's
a glitch and reappears!

Most women deserve purple hearts,
we are all so brave in our own way!!

Fridays Folly

As you can see the leaves are just starting to turn, we've had unusually good weather this season. . I just can't get used to it getting dark so early!

Friday was a rough day, on the phone with India for over three hours, eight different people tried to rectify my brothers wireless computer issues. Only to be hung up on 5 times, by five dudes. Seriously I don't think any of them knew how to resolve the problem so they just hung up. Of course a thick accent didn't help anything either! How many pardons can one person say anyway? Finally three women in a short progression guided me through. That and a few other kerfuffles made for a nasty morning and afternoon. A poem sums up my day!

It's surprising how a raised voice and rude attitude can affect you to the core. Thankfully a good cup of java can also be of comfort! Anticipation of being with good friends and my children was like hot chocolate for the soul. Seriously I looked old and worn this weekend. I just don't do drama well anymore!

Salvaged

I walked into a landmine

A powder keg of sorts

Stealth anger dormant

Sequestered with supports

A row ignited with a boom

Words rumbled in my midst

Unpleasant angst unfolded

Foul air did persist

Crying jag, apologies

Perception sanitized the mire

Exhaustion proceeded

Extinguishing the fire

Woes of dissension

Lingered weighty on my soul

I honked my horn fervently

Comic relief, to Spackle the hole

Giggles obscure a tear stained face

Preparing for the night to come

A goddess celebration

A Sisterhood to succumb

Love and giddy merriment

Blitzed a joyful mood

Friendship, food and wine

A day peacefully subdued

My wonderful goddess friends hamming it up!! We giggled so much! Gypsy goddess made the most scrumptious chocolate and orange icing cake that was to die for. I put in a request for my birthday!
Nature goddess inspires us with her youthful demeanor. Fit as a twenty year old she hikes all over the world. We are very lucky to have her as a part of our group! The night ended beautifully, me with a light heart void of any ugly thoughts from the day!
