SUNDAY SCRIBBLING prompt this week is "When pigs Fly"

It was difficult to justify such an expensive event as the 2010 Olympics coming to our province. With much opposition preparation forged ahead. Cut backs and cleaning up as any decent person would do for company. When all is said and done many of us thought we’d either leave the Province or boycott the festivities at all costs. Avoiding the hoopla of crowds and chaos. Many felt money could be better spent on those living in poverty, and only when pigs fly would we even endorse such a ridiculous waste of money!

Pigs must be  flying in droves around the lower mainland of British Columbia as we  swallow our previous disdain and embrace the spirit, beauty and free events. Preparation for any party is expensive and time consuming, but when all is said and done, Canadians love to party and have fun!! Not only are we all feeling patriotic, we are absolutely in love with our country, our cities, our province and each other! We have renewed our vows, as record numbers of people line  the streets in Celebration of freedom, accomplishment,  love and of course Hockey!!! Everyone says the same thing, there is absolutely nothing like it, the happiness and joy of celebrating goes beyond anything they have ever experienced!!  I may just have to join in the fun, bad knee and all!!!

I love your hat and mittens along with the red boots! Thanks for sharing those amazing photos and your feelings about the Olympics.
I have cheered almost as much for the Canadian athletes as the Americans. I've never been to Canada, but I am told my great-great grandfather was French-Canadian. Vancouver looks like such a beautiful city... one day I hope to visit.

I was proud when the olympics came to Sydney a while ago too. Isn't it an amazingly patriotic thing to feel that.
Btw, I Love the eyebrows on the guy with the free hugs...Hahaha.

I really enjoyed reading your notes about the games, and your photos are great. What a wonderful city. It's our turn next for the 'ordinary' Olympics, and I'm one of the vast army of people who think the money could be spent far better elsewhere. But I'm quite prepared to be conveterd! You gave me food for thought.

These are the most wonderful shots, and I am so happy for y'all! I remember how much it added to our city when Atlanta hosted the Olympics. My oldest son particularly loves the winter Olympics and has been glued to his television. I will have to remember to direct him to your blog, Quirky Gal.Thank you so much for sharing the photos of Pepper and of the city. Please tell her that her hat rules!

I enjoyed your pictures! I've never been even close to the olympics and never gave much thought to the people who live in the place they are held. Lots to think about there. I hope in the end it will have been a good experience.
