Digital art, done with scribbler |
Because I've had the flu and my son in law seems to be fighting it. And because I love a play on words I decided to do this rather sad folk art bird for Paint party Friday! It's been a bit of a bitter sweet week. We all rallied to enjoy the exciting Stanley cup playoffs. The spirit was rampant with flags flying off every car. It was so fun to watch, even though we didn't win.
You may have heard there was a riot after the game in Vancouver, thirty five minutes from where I reside. Well it was not Canuck fans like media first portrayed, it was young liquored filled youth fully prepared to riot, infiltrated, into the amazing crowds of fans . I have a sneaking suspicion these young people would have rioted whether the Stanley cup was won or not!
The opposing Boston team won, with probably eleven Canadian boys on their team. Even though we were disappointed we aren't poor sports! Canadians by enlarge are very polite and display great sportsmanship. In fact the stadium of fan stayed to watch the cup ceremony and cheer everyone on! It was such a warm feeling....until the riot. We all sat eyes glued to the television as we watched cars being flipped and burned, glass being smashed. Wondering if anyone we knew was there. The streets were devastated by thugs, stores were looted.
Fans were irate at the rioting that transpired! The following day eighteen thousand people volunteered to clean up the mess! Social media has rounded up and named the hoodlums and they will be prosecuted. Those young people are now wearing the social media scarlet letter that will be registered in google searches for years to come. Sadly it made our City look bad, even though the good outweighs the bad.
This bird is also for my friend who has some pending changes in her life that make her feel much like this little birdy! Have a great weekend everyone! Check out the other artists on Paint Party Friday!

I'm sorry to hear you and your family are sick with the flu. Love your birdie and all it's colorful feathers. I heard about the riots here in the states. They said it was a group of anarchists. I was surprised to see that happening. I'm glad your community is healing from the horrible events.

Happy PPF. Loving your bird and its fab colourings. Annette
Your birdy is awesome. He looks a little angry at what happened and seems ready to fly off. Sorry you aren't feeling well, I hope you feel better soon. Take care of yourself.
Ah pretty bird. If he were mine, I would keep him in a beautiful cage, feed him birdie chocolates, and give him a down pillow to lay his pretty head on.
Get well! xoxo
beautiful bird, such colours..even if sad. The Vancouver thing was shocking but heartwarming to hear all the people who turned out the next day to help.
Beautiful little bird, I love all his feathers. Hope you are back to yourself and feeling good soon. Happy PPF!
Love the bird!!
A few "bad apples" can sure ruin things for others. And sadly they're the ones who get all the attention. I thought it sounded very out of character when I heard about the riots.
Love the bird, the colors are gorgeous!
aw :) Your birdie does look a little sad, but beautiful too. I love the webbing detail throughout--I especially like her feathers. Beautiful.
I think this bird is so colourful there is some positivity for you to get well. I also watched the previous video thank you for sharing this I was very moved not only by his story but by his voice thank you

Awesome work, love the colors and the "spider web"-look connecting everything together!
Amazing texture...looking closely there is so much more going on with your bird...Love it!! And rioting after a sports event is pretty lame! Glad everyone's ok :)
oh this is gorgeous!!! what a wonderful painting!!! As a fellow Canadian I know what you mean about us not being poor sports....I was sad we lost but happy for the winning team....but too bad for all the people that started all the after game trouble...that is pretty scary stuff!!!
The colors used are just amazing! Well Done!
One of my all-time faves !! Just like the birds, we have our daily struggles, but should always take time to sing a little, chirp a little and fly away when it is time to go ;). And why not do it in vibrant color. Hugs, Dreamer
