Paint Party 7 year 2

Be sure to visit Paint Party Friday, I'm rather late. My planned painting has been altered twice already and will be revamped once again.  Wishing I'd  captured the process.  I much preferred the first one!  The only thing I know for sure, is what I wanted it to say! "Home is where the dream begins" A sign I want to hang over a door in my kitchen, but now I despise the lettering.

Truly my home is a creative arena. If I'm not painting or writing, my son in law is playing or writing music and lyrics, or wood working! My daughter is clipping coupons, (creative financing) cooking new dishes, decorating cupcakes and sewing on occasion. There seems to be  peace in a home where creativity takes precedence.

When I was a girl our home was pretty  clean and for the most part except the basement workshop, tidy! Our living room was off limits, only used for special occasions  to our chagrin. Mom worked full time and was always busy either making soup, cleaning or reading. I was very average in school, but  an awesome little homemaker at a very young age. Something I never really encouraged in my daughter, but she was really good in school!

A doodle done with fine point sharpies and watercolor background

In elementary school I had friend who was an honor student. She was thin and dressed immaculately. I always wished I could be her. Every "A" she got I felt a twinge of envy. Her parents were architects living in a visibly unique home, obviously designed by one of them.

One day we stopped in after school to pick something up. No one was home and their house was in an upheaval, clothes piled and strewn everywhere, super messy kitchen, with stacks of unwashed dishes. Every corner was filled with  messes. This wasn't an ordinary mess of the week, this was a build up over time. I remember the shock I felt, unable to imagine living in that chaos, so happy to live at my house.

Something wonderful amongst all the mess went on in that house to have  produced three doctors. My friend was a peaceful girl, in a chaotic home. The house I grew up in was full of passion, drinking, and boisterous behavior. I vowed to live peacefully when I grew up! I also knew from that moment  walking into my friends home that things aren't always as they appear! A great lesson to learn at ten. It also squelched my envy!

Can you remember an adult lesson you learned really young?

An interesting story there. My adult lesson learned was when I was 5 and stole a piece of Double Bubble gum from the little country store and mom found out and took me back to apologize to the store owner. What embarrassment.

Like your doodle!

Love your doodle!

Sorry to hear that your planned painting has been causing you grief. I think it looks great!

What a poignant story. I can't think of one of my own. But I do remember being fascinated by how different each of my childhood friends' houses/families were. I guess it still fascinates me how different everyone is.

Your new banner is fantastic! And I know you'll re-work the sign you painted until you're happy with it...although I think it looks great as it is. And a good message.

I would love to visit your home filled with color and art. I'm sure it's a happy place.

PS - the vase of flowers done with Sharpies!!...LOVE it!

I love your branching out leaves and buds painting. Does it mean turning over a new leaf to theme with your story? I think your lettering on your sign is fine. What don't you like, the shapes or colors?
I love the sound of your home now with all the creativity going on. My lesson quite young was"You are on your own, kid!" Why, because my home was like your biological home, clean and quiet. My innate personality of enthusiastic passion and exclamation was discouraged. Be quiet, don't get dirty, girls wear dresses, girls don't perspire(as in sweat!) personality was discouraged. But here I am now in all my "glory!" I am thankful that I had a clean safe up- bringing, but wish I could have started my true self life earlier. Although maybe that is not the path God had in mind for me. I am thankful! :) I am lucky!

I love your story of the adult lesson you learned as a child. :)

The best adult lesson I ever learned as a child was when my father taught me to always keep my eye on the ball when swinging the bat...but it definitely translates into an adulthood lesson. ;)

Thank you for your inspiring art and post!!

Happy PPF!!

Lovely painting, interesting story... yes, i so agree with you that things aren't always as they appear. BTW, thank you so much for the thoughtful comments on my blog... i was touched to read how much my painting touched you. That's what it's all about, isn't it? Connecting to others, somehow. So thank you. You really made my day. :-) ((hugs)) xoxo

Your art is full of color and swirls and lines that sing! Your letters do too, so there!

So many lessons...learned.
Not to envy best friend's relationships with her grown kids, after figuring out how over enmeshed they are and how toxic the relations.

Not to envy same best friends meticulously clean abode; as my messes produce fun and wonderful art.

Oh I could go on and on...

My grass is green; someone else's might appear to be greener, but mine is green enough!

Loving your vase of flowers and your stories. I grew up in a musical household, everyone played an instrument or sang......childhood was bliss. Happy PPF, Annette x

The grass isn't always greener on the other side. :) Another confirmation to be happy with what we have.
