Happy 3 Years Paint Party Friday!

Congratulations on your three year success!
A huge thank you to our hosts Eva and Kristin,
for bringing together such an amazing group
of talented artists!  Wishing you many more
successful years!

Scrabble much like life has it's ups and downs! Win or lose I love the game! I've played it since I was eleven. When online came into being I was in my own personal heaven, divorcing crossword puzzles and my newspaper  to pay for cable hookup! Despite how people hide their character it always shows up in their name or their attitude! I've  blogged about this before
Mix it monthly challenge

However, the other day was a little different. It made me take notice! I often play people with slightly lower board score, so they can elevate their scores.  A good Karma gesture for the times my score plummets. When it drops its a feat to  find good opponents willing to play! My  objective is always to find a cordial opponent, win or lose!  A drop in score can be as simple as a stint with bad tiles which can go on for weeks.  At times my score goes up and down like a yoyo!
I avoid playing grumpy pants people! The other day, my opponent grumbled that I was having a lucky day. I had just dumped a full rack of vowels, twice! Both times missing my turn!  I'd gambled that I would get better tiles after dumping my seven tiles!  Lucky me! I got a bingo( seven tile word) worth 70 odd points!

There was no mention of my missed  turns to achieve that one big  play. No mention that I had to actually compose a 7 letter word from  my rack.  Most players give a shout out, nice play, or good one. I usually say "beauty", because bingo's  are rare!
Then my opponent missed a very good play that would have blocked my next move giving her several extra points too! When  I played a high point word in the spot she missed, I was met with  capitals, " UNBELIEVABLE!"she typed. As though I was a millionaire who had won the lottery while she was a homeless person in the rain with nowhere to sleep. I could almost hear her breathing frustration and ire through the screen!

My first thought was, why didn't she plug up that triple two turns before when she had  tiles to accomplish that! She missed her opportunity to play in that spot! We have the same scabble average so she knows how to play.....she missed it,  then groaned that I was having all the luck in the game, play after play not one nice sportsman type gesture.  I said nothing.

How  many times have you missed blatant opportunities and then looked at those more fortunate for having everything good come their way?
work in progress
Some people delay gratification like my kids. Some people don't need new things, like a couple of my friends. Some people have the tenacity to use coupons to save, others  are happy with less. There are those willing to compromise  their living situations to solidify their dreams, some go away to work to secure their families and careers. Some people plug away for years at what they love, with promising results only be told they are an overnight success.
I wonder if that scrabbler looked a little harder in the corners of her own life for the things she might be missing instead of thinking those who play a better rack are just lucky she might be much happier! What would you do to make your own life a little luckier, richer, or better?

Lately we've been cleaning and purging, we have found lost treasures and also had many new things come our way! More on that later!
My daughter made  eggless oatmeal cookies with cadbury mini eggs, so yummy!

I found you in spite of the oops! Love your abstract works today, Sherrie, and your interesting post about online scrabble, at least I think I understood correctly that it is online. My daughter once was into Scrabble big time. While we were visiting her, she took my dh to play. His opponent, a woman, plopped down the f word, much to the extreme embarrassment of my proper spouse. That was years ago before it came into common usage. I played scrabble by myself a couple of nights ago. I can do that because I'm not too good at it and can forget for a short time what is on the other rack. I'm not sure I will do that again. It wasn't all that much fun. I like crossword puzzles more.

awesome work Sherrie!! Great PPF poster and I love seeing the color changes of your abstract and flowers too. Great work for Lynn's blog too. I only got one thing done for the kitchen theme. my drawing classes are keeping me super busy. Looking forward to her next theme. On the crossword thing- I have a friend who gets so very competitive and nit picky when playing any game that it is the one thing I avoid doing with her-as do others. It's supposed to be after all-geez!

I absolutely love to play Scrabble but only you know the old fashioned way with the board. I do try and cheat sometimes if I have five vowels or bad letters. What does that say about my personality. No actually I don't want to know! Happy PPF

Wonderful, colorful bright works to make people smile - again! Love the flowers and designs. So pretty! Grumpy people suck. I stay far away from them :)

I have never heard of online scrabble, bit behind the times methinks! I love the board version though. I also am rather taken with the idea of mini egg cookies, eggless or not! :)

I love the poster you made for the PPF celebration - it has a very Pop art feeling to it. As to your question, I believe everyone has a cross to bear. It's how they handle it that creates positive or negative attitudes. As the old song says, "be happy, don't worry." Blessings, my friend!

Hi Giggles,
Love the vibrant colourful art.

And the answer to your question.....
“Theres no place like home.” Happiness is living in your own little world and growing the best garden you can imagine.

Your PPF poster is wonderful - I love your vibrant colors.
Would you believe it - I have never played Scrabble in my life. It never really made the tops in my native country - at least not that I am aware of.
Your post is quite thought provoking about one's basic attitude to life - you wrote some very true words here. Sometimes I feel that people are envious of some aspects of our life without realizing that we simply don't "do stuff" that are a necessity for others. We chose not to have some things in order to afford other things that are important to us. You simply can't have it all - but some people think they should. Argh, I feel I'm not expressing my thoughts the way I wish, but I do hope that you get what I mean.
Just my two cents to your post.

I never played board scrabble, ever. And I'm a terrible speller. That said I've discovered Words With Friends online and love it. I'm convinced I am slowing down my path to dementia. I was terrible at first. I'm only just figuring out being able to go down a row of letters to make new words gets higher scores than shooting a lone word across the blank space. I think I'd be afraid to play you, for fear of not speaking up or having my ignorance mis understood as rudeness. On the other hand I'd love to play you as I'd learn from your moves and eventually I'd get better because of it. If you had the patience to play a newbe such as myself!
I love your art here, and your shout out for Paper, paint, pencils and pens! Hugs and happy PPF birthday! Haven't you finished those cookies yet!? Invite me to play?

Beautiful colours and art work, love the idea of mini egg cookies!
I think we all miss opportunities, I know I have, admitting that we have is hard for some people, it is so much easier to blame others. People might look at us and think we are lucky forgetting what we have had to do or go without to get there. I think BEING POSITIVE is the answer.

Love your work in progress ... looks very interesting. And that birthday card for PPF is awesome. I hate jealousy and envy, unless it's good-humoured. Some people carry around so much bitterness that I almost feel sorry for them. Nobody gets anything for nothing, there's always a hidden story that people who are envious don't (want to)see.... I like to surround myself with people that have a positive attitude towards life, no matter what struggles they encounter ....

I play Word Feud with Dev and with my daughter, on-line with both of them, even though Dev and I are generally sitting next to each other! It's a version of Scrabble and we have three games each going. Good for the brain, I hope. We are all very nice to each other, best player partners I could have.
Your artwork for PPF is great, and your abstracts too. Interesting post, as always. I hate grumblers and feel sorry for them. An elderly friend recently came into a small inheritance ...... And grumbled that it was no use now, why didn't I get it years ago when I needed it! Takes all sorts to make a world.

Love your post. I want to go out to coffee with you and ponder....everything. Love your conversations. My SIL is so competitive at those games she would be the one who types UNBELIEVABLE! I hate winning when I play games with her. I make sure to lose so she is happy. She is sweet just horribly competitive when she plays games. Hugs, thanks for sharing! Tam

Btw, checked out your faces in Feb... that Frida Kahlo... omg, amazing! You did a great job with that one (and the others too, of course!) Wonderful wisdom here.
