Paint Party Friday " Creative Ideas"

Where wonderful artists gather weekly to share their progress!

Mixed Media Crazy Dress for Mix it monthly I always forget to use the right colors!

How many people do you know who can compose two posts, a birthday card, bathe, AND dye their hair all at the same time? In twenty minutes no less! I amazed myself! However I have to thank  and  credit  my darling muse who I'm sure resides in that tub of purpley water!

I love bathing, and since I was seeing the hairdresser the next day I figured I needed to cover up a few nasty roots. Who knew my muse would decided to splish splash while I was having a bath!! Glad she did! To think I had two books at arms length, ready to stave off boredom in the twenty five minutes it takes to process my hair.  I may just be a  legend in my own mind with all these wonderful thoughts  flooding in like a gusher!! Thankfully my brain can still hold it all. Luckily I was able to quickly get it down too.

I hate those middle of the night creative moments when you're too tired to amble to a computer to get those new ideas down, and by morning they've flitted away! I heard a musician say  creative ideas fly by,  if you don't catch them right away and put them to good use they find another soul to attach too! So many of my creative ideas have vanished before they had a chance to manifest!

Digital color edit

Once in the eighties I stopped by the roadside to quickly jot down a  poem that came flooding in. Not long after that  I got a  small hand held tape recorder as a gift to verbally save my ideas. Now  smart phones are ever so useful for capturing quick thoughts although I've yet to use mine for that!

I try to write most of my creative thoughts down, however it's rare that I reference them. It's really best if I  build on them immediately or  soon after they appear! I've heard people say the pounding of the water  in the shower is a great conduit to their creative ideas!
This was the first layer of my  wip canvas...
How about you, when  and how do your creative ideas flood in?
What do you do with them?

Great paintings! I must say I'm having a little of an artist block at the moment. I only get inspired doing ATCs if I find an interesting theme for a swap or I'm asked to do a certain theme.

This is such a full-of-life post, I loved reading it.
"Some Bunny loves you" is great with the terrific dress, and yes, trying to remember to include the specified colours is often difficult. And that's a great picture of your newly dyed blue hair.
I get so many ideas when I'm out walking, and if I don't make a note of them and use them then they do go off in a huff to someone else.

lovely work, congrats on the multi-tasking!

Your art is just so much fun!! I love the colors you use - bright and happy! I seem to have a lot of ideas. With my paintings, I tend to first paint a very playful and abstract background and I usually get the idea of where the painting is going while I'm doing that. I rarely write my ideas down when I get them. Some I'll remember, some I don't and I always hope that the important ones will return if I forget... xoxo Silke

WOW! You are the twenty minute wonder of multi-tasking! So good that you could harness the energy while it was flowing all purpley! Happy PPF :)

Your creations are lovely. Don't think there is any problem with the use of color s in the first one. Oh yes, due to my lazy nature I have lost so many ideas. Some days I'm filled with a creative spirit thatni can go on doing art and some other days I don't even feel like opening my paint box.
Have a wonderful weekend
Hugs

Inspiration DOES come at inconvenient times! Or then, I may 'catch' a thought & jot it down , .... but where? LOL
what fun art & love the purple hair ...

I love the droll look in the eye of the girl in the first painting. LOL Made me smile. Thank you!

'Love your florals especially and I'm laughing at your story of multitasking! You are quite talented! I'm not very systematic with my creative thoughts. They flow as I'm working and I just go with them. If I get an idea that I can't do right away, I might write it down, especially if it's a poem. No, I'm not a poet, but sometimes a poem comes to me.

I like all your work as usual, but my absolute favorite this week is the portrait with her hair over her face. She is gorgeous, and the hair gives her a very mysterious look. As to my creative ideas, they come from my family, nature and the Bible. Sometimes I have projects percolating in my mind for days before they emerge, but some other times they just emerge when I start playing with my materials. Blessings, my friend!

I like the painting of the flowers/doilies. The colors are great. Are you in a purple mood these days? I noticed lots of purple today. I lent my voice recorder to my son and I had forgotten that. Thanks for the reminder. I'll try to get it back. I've been leaving notes all over the house, but I've never pulled off the road to write down a note.

I'm still a pen and paper gal (don't have a smart phone) - sometimes just a word can remind me, other times not... *sigh*
A really great post and thanks for visiting - happy PPF :)

Amazing artwork this week!

I am inspired the whole day from everthin around me ... I am glad that the most ideas flow away and are forgotten in the next 10 minutes.. otherwise I would get crazy! LOL!

Beautiful art again this week! I get a lot of my inspiration when I'm outside in my garden or walking in nature somewhere...sometimes at night just before I fall asleep...I keep a note book at my bedside table to jot down notes..which I often can't understand the next day :) But most often my ideas come once I have the pencil or paint in my hands. Something about just holding a pencil or a brush or even a crayon that triggers the muse :)

I agree with several of the other comments...I love the picture with the hair over the face. Very creative. As for my ideas, they usually come when I'm least expecting them, and I jot them down in my "idea book"...I enjoy reading through some of the older parts just to see what I was thinking at the time.

OH yes all the creative ideas...mine came in the whole day, but sometimes when I was laying in bed and can´t find sleep sometimes they are floating in like drops that fall from the sky...if I don´t write them down...ffffllleeeyyyhh they are gone...I love your bunny girl with her vintage dress, very eyecatching and mishious, hehe, but bunny is the rockstar, thats for sure! Thank you for joining our fashionshow at

Great post you awesome multi-tasker! Wow, you did great! I love the different colors you did with your image.

For me, creativity has been far and few between. Health, stress, having to move around has taken its toll. Altho' I do get great ideas in the shower or around water OR right before I fall asleep.

I'm still visiting from yesterday's PPF! BTW, how did your hair turn out? Big hugs, Rasz

Wonderful post. My morning walks with the dogs are usually when I get my ideas and hope they stay in my head until I get home. Love all your colorful work!

Love the dress and the face! So pretty! I just let the creativity mull in there in the brain for a while and then try to let it fall as it may.

"creative ideas fly by, if you don't catch them right away and put them to good use they find another soul to attach to".... ooh, that's so wonderfully said, I have to remember this! Love your girl who looks through her hair as if through bars. I need to learn to act on my creative ideas right away. So often I don't have the time and I write them down, and then afterwards I can't remember exactly what it was I wanted to do ....

Love the face and loved reading yor thoughts! I agree showers are creative conduits but I lose the ideas too if I don't write them even as I think them out!

It's always so bubbly and colourful your way Sherrie! Your creativity flows! My ideas come as I paint or draw. I love that not knowing free spontaneity as I play and go with the flow!

I adore your 'some bunny loves you' painting! you are such a multitasking wonder!! I have notebooks every where + my phone is chock full of half written notes. I am never going to have an easy streamlined system.... x

JKW said...

OMGosh I did exactly that with my first book. I had to pull over so often, I finally bought a small tape recorder. Grief ! What is a smart phone, lol. I would totally love to wear that first dress. The painting with the hair in front of her eyes, my fave. Blessings, Janet PPF

I was away and stayed unplugged by choice but I am back and just HAD to make time to visit some of my fave PPFrs:):) Fabulous art and of course I love how you play with color changes too! I keep paper and pencils everywhere so I can quickly jot something down-I even put a small tablet and pen in my pocket when I go for walks(along with a few dog treats for my friends along the way:)

Tracey FK said...

I keep post it notes in my pocket or tucked close by... They are stashed in every room almost and there is always a pen nearby so I can jot down thoughts and ideas... Sometimes I don't remember what they were about though as they can be quite cryptic if you don't redress them quite quickly lol...
