Card Reject Paint Party Friday!

Art is subjective and we all have different tastes! I have never professed to be good at drawing or painting. I have always been about the colour. Big bold beautiful colour that I just can't live without! If you asked me why I couldn't answer you. I just know it's like a drug for me and I'm addicted. Surprisingly I mostly wear black!
Unfinished reject
So when Cupcake said she HATED my Santa I laughed. Her disdain was funny as she repeated Hate, Hate Hate over and over which is a swear word in our house!! I knew all along she would. I was experimenting with this years Christmas cards... who knew it would be met with such rejection!! I'm still giggling....
Well I must confess, I knew all along she would hate it!! So I didn't even bother to finish the Bad Santa. I giggled as I showed it to Beardo who also started laughing. He would never use the word hate, but his reaction was fun none the less and as he commented that it looks like Liza Minelli...I could barely contain myself I was laughing so hard!
Cupcake hates his smile and eyes, and his hat IS disproportionate and he is too feminine!
My idea was to start with a big friendly smile. If I can get a bit of comedy in my Christmas cards I'm happy!! However my transgender  "Bad Santa" didn't make the mark this year!!
Back to the drawing board for me!!
I agree with Cupcake..but the smile still makes me giggle and let's face it, Santa really is Mama!!
Of course Cupcake was apologizing that she didn't like it, and I just laughed even harder! Instead I thanked her for her honesty!   I love that they are both so honest. We don't all like the same things, that is the bottom line! Life would be so boring if we did!!
This is another card reject because I am owled out! Actually it's not enough fun, but Cupcake liked it and I don't!
I am never insulted if someone doesn't like my creativity!! I am so picky about what I surround myself with that I would be the last person to subject someone to my tastes!! So many great styles of artwork to love and dislike! If I can produce a smile, or a giggle with my images that's good enough for me!!
Thankfully we can all laugh together about our crazy antics and creative boo boos!
I love to laugh and nothing brings me more joy than a real good giggle!!

Who in your life do you love like to share your mistakes with the most, other than no one?

Hey Sweet lady. I agree art should be what the artist likes and call me crazy but I just love your Santa. He is a bit freekish and oddly lovable.

My wife's response to my Minotaur last Sunday was, "Ugh, his scary looking." I guess we are blessed to have the honesty of our loved ones - LOL! Happy PPF and Blessings, my friend!

your post made me smile as wide as your Santa :) Santa and mama have more in common than we may wish to admit! :) It surprises me to hear you wear mostly black, I envisaged a lady festooned in rainbow colours! I guess you use your work as a colour playground for your personality. I notice a lot of designers and artists wear black, I find it makes my pale complexion even paler. :)
Have a lovely weekend

Lots of smiles and happiness here, that's great! Laughing about mistakes and all the sillies we get up to is just what we all need, oh so good to laugh!

I think that your Santa got a feminine touch and it is a bit like a woman Santa which I actually like! very much so! I also think no matter how we create regardless to the result the most important is creating process and the whole fun which comes from it.

I agree with Beardo, he looks like Liza Minelli!!! It's such a funny Santa, I think he would make many people smile! But I also like the owl.
Yes, art is very subjective - how could it not? It is personal.

If I were to pick a Santa, I'm not sure I would pick this one. But, along with your story, it makes me smile and I probably would pick it after all. Isn't that much how life in general is? As soon as we, at least I, know a little more things changes.
I love to share with my mother, she and I can laugh forever of mine or her mistakes. It's a blessing.

I LOVE how Beardo described your Santa-I SO see Liza!! I am a lover of lots of color and vibrancy too so I really enjoy the way you change up the colors on a painting in your posts-what fun!

Your Ms Santa certainly brought a smile to my face, although I'd hesitate to send it out. I do think the owl one is ready to be reproduced, signed and sent. Funny how we do feel we should apologize for not liking something someone else does.

Liza Minelli, yes! I knew he/she reminded me of someone ;-D
I don't like it when people say they like my art but I feel they don't. But I can understand they don't want to hurt my feelings. What is difficult for them to understand is that that hurts my feelings more. I don't need everyone to like my art, heaven knows I'm very picky too, so I'd rather like it if they say nothing than tell a lie. And life is always nicer when you can laugh about things, isn't it ;-)

I had a good giggle over your lady Santa! I always think it's good to share our mistakes because otherwise people think we never make them! I share my good and my bad on my blog. And at home I share them all with HB. He tells me truthfully if he likes it or not.

I agree! I'm surprised to hear that you wear black! I too envisioned bold colors surrounding you, your art and your home. Well, although the Liza Minelli comment did crack me up, I love your Santa's big, wide smile and laughing eyes. AND I love that you make your cards - do you do one piece and then have them made into cards? I love the idea! xoxo

What a great post Giggles! So cute and light and fun! I usually ask my sons for their opinion. I always get a very honest answer. There are some people who will say they like everything I do, and that makes me really wonder if that is at all honest, lol! Happy PPF. Hugs, Rasz #67

I DO like the owl...even thought it looks sad, it makes me feel tender-hearted.

Thanks for the smiles today. :)

You are so right..art should please the creator. Everyone else has their personal opinion and taste. I have to admit that I get sensitive about my art when I start to compare my work to that of others. But then I bring myself back and remember the most important thing. Have a lovely week!

It's so funny that you show your "mistakes" and as always give us a fascinating story with your paintings. I never know what people will like on my blog, and it's so interesting to get people's comments and ideas which can change the way of looking.

OMG... this was hilarious. Your Santa made me smile, and then i thought "it kinda reminds me of Liza Minnelli", in a funny sort of way!!" and then i read your words & saw Beardo's comment & it cracked me up!! omg... yeah, i've gotten similar reactions here at home. When they say "you're not gonna show that in public, are you?" it tells me i should probably sleep on it. ;-) Wonderful to catch up here, my friend. xx
