Thankgiving

Magoo, thought his name was something else but he made me change it!
Not a day goes by that I don't feel grateful for something.
As we await the part for our broken fridge I am grateful
for everything else in my midst! The Majority of  Canadians
are  so fortunate with such unrest in so many parts of the world.
Of course sad things happen daily! Yesterday an innocent
young man lost his life as a new driver lost control. Plowing
into him as he sat  at the same bus stop I used to pick
Beardo up at when he was the same age. It made my
stomach drop.
We can lose what we love in the blink of an eye. So daily
I am thankful for what I do have! Having lost many family
members as a young married woman I understand
how priceless every intimate conversation, every gesture
of love and kind word means to your child! I  also
understand that nasty words and conversations
can haunt you!

Betty hates her name but loves that she's named after her favourite aunt!
I understand there is no room for unresolved anger or dissension
with your children, even if you don't agree with them! Either way it
hurts them or you!  There are times you  need to walk away
or button up knowing things will eventually be resolved,
maybe not exactly as you would like it!

Sad Sadie
The hardest lesson a parent has to learn is letting go.
Knowing we all learn things in our own time. As parents
we can impede  development  not letting our kids make
their own mistakes. I've found being my child's soft place
to fall without judgement has been the best way to build
trust and intimacy. That doesn't mean I haven't had strict
 boundaries, because I have!

When my little chickadee started cooking I just sat back
only sharing techniques when asked!  I ate what was
in front of me and loved all first attempts.  I shared
some of what I knew but left the door open so
she could develop her own cooking style.
Encouraging her to use her intuition and try
new things, knowing the best way to learn to cook
 is by trial and error!
Once you make a mistake, you rarely repeat it, unless you
are totally inept in the kitchen. Which sadly some are!
Not everyone has the innate skill the women
in my family were born with! Now Cupcake has
the confidence to try wonderful new things
that are always really delicious!
Sammy is a moody gal who tends to annoy people with her snide comments!!
It is our Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend! I am so
thankful for so many blessings! My kids are number one!
No matter what they do they always include my feelings and
well being in their plan! Respecting each others time
and space is the only way it works for us!
I could not be more grateful for their love,
that makes me feel more loved than every before!

I love how much fun we have when laughter rings
through our house on a daily bases!
They honour me daily by being thoughtful, kind
and generous to others too!
Last week a client of Beardos lost his home in a fire, a few
months before his first baby is due. It made me so sad yet
ever more grateful for the beautiful roof over my head!
It's a blessing to live in a peaceful Country,
to have clean water, and lovely food on my table.
I'm so grateful to have choice,  a wonderful
privilege not all parts of the world afford.
Finding my true creative self before I expire is
a gift I am ever appreciative of! Breaks
my heart to think there are
people who may never experience that!
I'm grateful for all that I have learned from my
many  mistakes! I feel so thankful to have many
 humourous, loving  friends with unique
perspectives! I'm  ever grateful for my daughters
in-laws who embrace me as one of them
always making me feel so welcome!
My life is quite simple now and I love it that way.
There is so much to be grateful for each moment!

Right now Peace is on my mind.
One can never over appreciate
the beauty of Peace
and the gifts it generates!

Wishing all Canadians a peaceful loving Thanksgiving
with ENOUGH of what they need!

Now I will buckle down as I await what is to be another
big storm hoping it will be less than expected!
 Enjoy your weekend!

What's one thing you feel really grateful for this week?

I have a couple Sammy's in my classroom so she gave me quite the laugh! I truly get your message this week. As I watch the morning news I often see mug shots of former students who have made bad choices or who became homicide victims. The horrific tales of loss from the currents hurricane also make one forever grateful for what they have. I hope the storm bypasses you and you are able to enjoy your week.

I am grateful I have found something that balances out my life-my art play that is-and that I have the good people and pets in my life to make it rich and full. And your new blog title piece is fabulous. Is that you (in reality of in your dreams?) I also love sad Sadie, she is so damn cute! Have a great holiday.

Loving what you have is a great gift, thanks for the reminder.
Poor Sammy, I hope she eventually works out what is a better way to live.
Love the little pig happily playing the drums, such an imaginative painting.
Betty is a great creation, she has quite a strong, quiet personality I think.
Hope you and your family have a great PPF and a good week ahead.

I am grateful for a good life not perfect but a good one. Lovely pieces today and love your Halloween header. Enjoyed your thoughts today too, but these tragedies are so upsetting. Happy Thanksgiving Sherrie to you and your family.

Even though she is a moody gal I love Sammy :-) Hope the storm isn't too bad, and that your Thanksgiving weekend will be lovely and spent with the people you love most. When I read horrific stories about things happening in other parts of the world I am so endlessly grateful that I was born in a country where people are (more or less) treated equally and where you can go where you want without having to worry about lunatics invading your city and killing everyone who thinks differently. Since there's not much else on the news lately I am grateful every single day for this and I hope from the bottom of my heart that my kids will have the same freedom when they're adults....

Dearest Giggles, Your post is uplifting. Just hearing your comments about how grateful you are for your life, not taking for granted those you love is so important. Also living simply is so essential. I am grateful for YOU and your inspirational blog.

As a parent of two girls, I understand exactly what you mean about letting go. It is also extremely difficult to know what the parents of that poor young man that lost his life in the accident must be going through. Thanks for sharing your wisdom and beautiful artwork, my friend!

I so love how your art accompanies your words. Always inspiring. I to am thankful and grateful everyday for some thing in my life. With so much craziness going on in our world we have to take those moments to know we have so much even if we think it is not enough. Does that make sense?
Happy weekend to you.

I get so confused that you have a different thanksgiving weekend. Does that make it twice as insane and you are pigging out from thanksgiving through to Christmas??? Yes I wonder why it is so peaceful up in Canada and so crazy down here.
You sound like a wonderful mom biting your tongue and not making everything 'all about me'...I could learn a thing or two
Happy Thanksgiving !!

I'm glad I came by this evening. I always get the messages in your written words as if they were meant for me, these wonderful reminders and lessons. I'm glad I can wish you a happy and peaceful Thanksgiving. I'm wondering what special foods you prepare there, how it differs from the American Thanksgiving meal? I'm glad your life seems filled with peace and so much gratitude. Your colorful drawings brighten the page and radiate your joy! Shalom'

Happy Thanksgiving!

I am thankful for an invitation from a friend to her 60'ieth birthday this week-end. We were nine women celebrating our friend and being together. Many of us didn't know each other before this weekend, but I feel like I made new friends these few days.

Family and daily life go in waves sometimes of joy and sometimes of worry. Not so unusual I think.

Sending you my best wishes
Hugs Ilona

Beautiful, thoughtful post and great artwork. I especially like Sad Sadie. Hope she's cheered up now. There's lots to be grateful for, but it was especially the words "knowing we all learn things in our own time" that spoke especially to me, as I've just been thinking about that today. Happy Thanksgiving!

Oh she looks really enchanting! And the drum beating piglett is so cute as well! I also like it very much to read your notes as you always write about something important to think about. Many thanks for sharing!
