An Important Boundary!

This week I will continue to share a few more
pages as well as a short video of the
completed booklet I made for my dear
friend! I'm still blown away at
how much it pleased her!
Cupcake figures my friend probably
appreciates how the booklet expresses
many of the  components of who she is!
I hadn't thought of it that way, but
I guess we all hope people will see
our true essence with all the little
nuances of who we are!
I also read a quote that said
"Whenever someone creates something
with all their heart, then that creation
is given soul" The Cat Returns 2002
It was such a joy to honor all my friends assets
in such a special way! Even though I don't love
all the artwork....it was intuitively expressed
with so much love, night after night!!
On another note, we're still at the
 pioneering stages of  social media
 with proper  boundaries not completely
worked out!  I do imagine it will come in
time. Not without some regret along the way!!
Recently I watched a few of the instagram
stories that really disturbed me!! One,
a granddaughter showed her Nana
struggling to get up a step with her walker!
While a favourite celebrity videoed her
aging mother without her front teeth in!
I shudder to think what these older women
would feel if they were aware!
Neither of these lovely female Influencers
meant any harm. Both are truly beautiful souls!
They just weren't thinking. I felt a bit squeamish
as I  watched these older women
on camera. Albeit a few seconds it was still
disturbing and invasive. All the while so
grateful knowing my daughter would
would never expose me in that light!
I'm sure both ladies thought their
adoration was worth sharing. However
I'm not sure they were aware at how
those being filmed might feel if they
knew it was being shared
publicly to a very large audience!
I think this is a really important
conversation worth having  with
our loved ones as we age!
After all don't we all want to
star in our own show looking
our best!
Cupcake knows what a proud
woman I have always been.
I've never left my house without makeup
and hair done. I have no doubt
she will always protect my dignity
as I continue to age!
My mother was a proud hairdresser.
Who never left her  house without
lipstick and hair done too!
So when she passed  in
palliative care,  my brother
and I did her hair and makeup!
Just like she would expect us to!
That way those who would see
our mom next, would be presented
with the woman she would want
them to see. The beautiful proud
woman who was loved by her
family! Not the woman the
Cancer forced her to become!
                            Ask yourself how you would
want the world to see you
if the choice was no
longer yours?
I wonder if those proud women
sharing their aging relatives
publicly  would want to
be seen without their teeth
or struggling with a walker?

Pretty sure the answer would
be  an emphatic NO, and that
"Do unto others as you would have
them do unto you" still applies!

I hope you will enjoy this very quick video
of my Booklet... the colour and sheen
are so much  nicer on video.

Your booklet is really beautiful. My mum would never show herself without lipstick and a pretty hairdo, it's an admirable trait. Happy PPF, hugs, Valerie

Wow, Sherrie, what an enlightening post! I sure hope no one shows my worst side on Instagram, which I am not into. I guess it was the immaturity of the two that caused them to show their relatives in such a bad light. However, we see even adult comedians going too far. Last night I saw Jimmy Kimmel making fun of Mrs. Trump's speaking, even knowing that English is her 5th language, not first. Whether we like a person's politics or beliefs, it is in such bad taste to do what he did. It's like laughing at a handicapped person who struggles to walk, I think.

what a vibrant and fabulous booklet-and a real treasure of a gift! Not on Instagram yet, but I cannot believe these kinds of things are posted! They already show up on practically every other social media platform and to be honest I stay far away from that kind of stuff. You're right- if only these posters would put themselves in the same situation first- perhaps they'd think twice about it. There's just no need for this ridiculous stuff! Stepping off my box to wish you a happy PPF and a fab weekend!

It does not surprise me at all that your friend likes her booklet so much. It is so personal, and as Cupcake already said it's always a nice feeling when people let us know they appreciate us for who we are, and that's exactly what you did here. I'm still not on Instagram, and I'm not sure what Instagram stories are, but I was appalled reading about it. I can't understand these people videoing all and everything. What a lack of respect for privacy. UGH! I have a hard time seeing them as "beautiful souls" who just didn't think. And I would certainly tell them too...

I'm lucky that my friends and family are all on the same page where privacy is concerned. We don't share anything personal on social media or anywhere online.

I do agree with you and wish I too would be always presented with dignity and love

Hey Beautiful Lady. This book would appeal to many women and as I have mentioned before I think your art and text would make lovely books that would sell. These pages are excellent.

Oh this little booklet is unbelievable. I am not surprised your friend was ecstatic, it showed her many interests and hobbies in such an original way.
I didn't realise it was so small until I saw the video. What a marvellous present. I liked "World Traveller" and "Fun Socks" and "Curious" ..... and now scrolling back and forward I really like them all.
I don't think anyone should put a photo of another person on the Internet unless the other person has seen the photo and says it is OK.
Very nice blogpost, Sherrie, with lots of fascinating art.

I especially love your owl painting today! I do think it's better to ask if in doubt about what we share... Thanks for the thought provoking post.

Your picture book is great. I always wore eye make up, colored my hair, watched my weight (walked 2.5 miles M-F). . .FL then I moved and have done nothing. . .crime to prevelent here, don't bother with make up. . .or hair. I am who I am and that's all that I am. (HUGS) Blessings, Janet
