Much like life you just never know what's going to turn up in your artwork! This little guy obviously lost a lens in his glasses! Or maybe it's a metaphor and he's only seeing through one eye! Either way he's a whimsical character even if he's not exactly smiling!
It's been a whimsical week!!
This is my favorite kind of artwork! Crazy, colourful and full of whimsey!
Nothing is ever as it appears, and these characters are a perfect representation of that!
This week I have been really enjoying instagram! It's so inspiring. But darn it's addictive!
Having a
library of information at your finger tips is extremely alluring to
anyone craving knowledge! When is it too much I wonder? I guess
everything needs boundaries!
Are you motivated under a reward system or retribution?
I raised Cupcake on a reward system. It worked for her! However in her first
I raised Cupcake on a reward system. It worked for her! However in her first
grade classroom a boy who stood on desks was rewarded with candy when he
sat in his chair while the other first graders looked on....unrewarded for their obedience!
Since early childhood I was self motivated to do what I love,
but nothing upset me more than unjustified punishment.
Probably why I left home at seventeen!
Cupcake is self motivated in a more balanced way than me!
Working under the threat of punishment would only stress her out!
How about you?

I've yet to try them in a piece of artwork, but wanted to share how they look
and stamp on paper. The following are my favorites!
These are the others stamped on paper!
Can't wait to try out some of the background styles taught!
The others are just random and I'll have to experiment and see if I enjoy them! Can't wait to take a few more of those workshops...

You had a very fun week! I'm all for real justice, and letting go and having fun! Love your whimsical art! HPPF
Wonderful backgrounds. Can't wait to see what you do with them. Always fun to visit here - so much color and joy :) M.x
Lots of fun colorful art. Strathmore's class with Tracy was fun. I see you got some good results from your efforts.
Happy PPF,
Kate
Love the cat and the stamp u made. Happy PPF
the stamps are cool... but I like the very top image... great colour and they are the very definition of whimsical... as to unrewarded obedience... I hate the unfairness of it, and it drove me nuts when i was teaching to watch teachers do it...xx
I guess every person needs different teaching system, some will not move a finger unless they see the ax, so to speak lol And others need just a soft word.
And about information, oh... it can be overwhelming! I am not in instagram, but I think eventually I will join, only that I do not want to get addicted, no time for that!
Great art as always, love the crazy colors!!
Wonderful work -love those stamps! happy PPF! hugs, Valerie
Indeed, a hectic week!
Enjoyed your color world, once again!
I always enjoy your whimsical style. Those prints are lots of fun. I can see lots of possibilities! What a great free class!
Is love the Tracy Bautista inspired stamps that you designed, and look forward to seeing them in your artwork. I always enjoy your whimsical characters too. Have a blessed weekend, my friend.
Love your colourful art, Giggles!
Looks like you've been having fun this past week!
There's certainly plenty of whimsy as well as the contrast of the serious thought provoking debates you spark up. I don't know much about raising kids (although I think the get away with murder these days from what I can see) but for dogs I'm a firm believer in positive reinforcement - reward the good behaviour and ignore the bad - I'm guessing that would work for kids too!!
full of colour and fun as always! love your style!
I really enjoyed looking at your stamps and how they turned out. It is fun to try something new and see what happens.
I'm motivated by doing the right thing because it is the right thing to do. It just feels good.
Your art makes my days even brighter !!
Love the idea of stamps ...very creative and absolute fun !

I love your whimsical, colorful characters! They always bring a smile to my face. I watched the workshop vid but haven't played around yet. Look at all the cool stamps you made-great job!
wonderful art today, interesting piece with the one lens. My husband's mom raised her kids on a reward system and they all had good jobs and seem to want to keep working as a part of their self-esteem...hmm.
Hi Sherrie. So much color and fun and interesting info here on your blog. I love your creations as they always make me smile.:) Have a wonderful day.
Oh, no moral question to be decided today - a Friday holiday, haha!
I love your fun paintings and I especially like the little creature bottom left on the third painting but I am really taken with your super stamps, they could be endlessly useful. They also look very nice in a group all by themselves.
Such fun, whimsical art! And the stamps look good, too. I love the Strathmore FREE classes. They usually have really good instructors.
I too would get stressed out if working under threat of punishment, so negative! Always loads of fun and style this way, thanks for all you share!
I adore your whimsical characters :-) Thanks for reminding me of the Strathmore workshops! Signed up for it but then forgot about it. I always learn a lot there .... Your stamps look interesting!
Cleverly done with your whimsy, and great colours :-)
I always enjoy your insight, humour and style! Great colours and expressions!
luv your mood and your colours
happy you dropped in to view mine
much love...
Wonderful!! I'm late for the Strathmore series. Love what you've done with the stamps.
Oh those stamps look awesome!
Lovely paintings and new stamps, so exciting! :) Looking forward to see what you will further expand with the stamps in background.
I had to smile when I read about the boy standing on the desk and get rewarded with candy... suppose he would stand on the desk each time he would like some candy!...
and it reminded me though about my cat. Sometimes she hides and I cannot find her anywhere, and my heart starts to beat more tha normal, so I say loudly -Do you want some fish? ....she loves fish! Then she shows up.. :D But this can make her hide when she wants fish.. Fortunately it seldom happens.
have a great weekend xo
I had a laugh about the boy as well, I do that sometimes with the devil dog, she outside and I want her to come in, and she just does what she wants, she thinks she is the ruler of the house, and she doesn't even lift up her head when I call her, sometimes I say you need a cookie, and as soon as she hear cookie, she shoots to the door. Now that is self motivation. Love your whimsical characaters
LOVE LOVE LOVE your whimsical art this week!!! Those stamps look fantastic and fun to me :) I'll have to take a look at the Strathmore class and see what I can get done :)
Sherrie, I love the hand made stamps. It's always such fun to use tools you have made for yourself, I think. My favorites are the tulip shaped item in the first photo, and the very last stamp in the photo of the stamps themselves. Great work.
I love playing with stamps! Yours are great! Love your journal pages as well. Thanks for stopping by.
As always lovely whimsical art :)
I am not on Instagram yet, so don't know how it is. And regarding punishment, it difficult to say coz there are some who would perform at the slightest motivation and there are others who do not move a muscle until the word punishment pops!!! But yes, personally I think to work under stress is difficult for almost all of us :)
Have a nice weekend!
I too am a spokesperson for being fair and just with others.
Love your whimsical art.Strathmore classes are great.
Have a lovely week
Hugs

Very nice background stamps!
Love your whimsical paintings. I had been following Strathmore workshops for the last two years and aren't they great? Your stamps look wonderful

Such fun, fun, fun art!!! I love your whimsical pieces, and I'm very intrigued by your stamps. What a great idea!! As to motivation, I am pretty much self-motivated and don't like to work under the threat of punishment. That has the opposite effect on me. I work best of all when I'm inspired! xoxo Silke
I love seeing your experiment. It's always fun and a growing experience. The whimsy's are adorable. Blessings, Janet PPF
