Thursday Thirteen

Journal Page

Thursday Thirteen Random thoughts

1 Life sure has it's ups and downs. The people you love most seem to have so much power over us!

2 Stupid woman in Starbucks today, plugged in the cord to her wireless computer right across the customers path to the counter! Lucky no one tripped. First man who walked by accidentally ripped the cord out of the socket with his foot! She was oblivious to anyone else but herself.

3 Where the hell is common sense????  Not common lately!

4 Why are people so RUDE with their cell phones, playing games, texting, posting to facebook while in a room full of people all chatting together??

5 Why do people think it's okay to talk on a cell phone for a long period of time when they're in your company? Next time I'm going to bluntly tell them I find it offensive!!

6 I wonder how much the property taxes and heating bill are on the 2.4 million dollar lottery home!

7 How the heck do you dust the 10 ft rafters of the lottery home?

8  Damn the show "Shameless" with William  H Macy is addictive!

9 I have been wanting to see "For Colored Girls" since it came out. I have waited long enough. This weekend I'm renting it from Shaw on demand! Having a movie date by myself!!!
10 I am jonsing to create, but hesitate to spread all my supplies around the family room making a big mess again!

11  I loved the movie with Graffiti artist Banksy  called "Exit through the gift shop" but it's not for everyone.

12 I am so grateful for the beautiful yellow an apple green flowers my daughter bought for International Woman's day Tuesday!

13 Darn it, I need to write down my blog ideas before they float into the abyss!! Here today and gone tomorrow! I must remedy that!

Thursday Thirteen Random things

Thirteen totally random things

Peppers former boss announced that she's getting married
at a five course dinner she invited us to last Wednesday.
An independent business woman it's a  first marriage in her late forties!

We attempted to do a concert with whistles from party crackers,
while Pepper conducted!

She set an amazing table with different wines for each course.

Sunday my artist friend had a craft party

I made a shrinky dink out from  a character on my
Christmas cards .

We had our first snow of the season and could watch it as we created.

Nikki making a shrinky dink out of one of her characters

It's such a blast getting together with good friends. My friend Violette
is always so supportive and inspires me to try new mediums.

Pepper made magnets from pieces of scrapbook paper
then covered glass balls with colored tissue

while Betty Boop looked on!

Pepper's boss brought  us this cool little  pillow from the Caribbean!

My daughter has only ever worked for powerful strong women!
I find that very interesting!

My son-in law won an  all inclusive trip for two to  Mexico for a week!

Thursday Thirteen things I'm grateful for!

Thursday Thirteen things I'm grateful for this week.

1)I'm grateful that even though I draw sad old ladies, I'm not one!2) I'm grateful that I got to have dinner out with my goddess girlfriends, with the food being even more tasty than usual!
3) I'm grateful that I got a brand new free printer from my brother, he won it and has one already! I'm extremely hopeful it will work the way I need it to!
4) I'm grateful that I got invited to a Halloween party with a live band and limo rides to a haunted house, because I LOVE HALLOWEEN and feel in the mood for it this year!

Not my feet!
5) I'm grateful that it's been good weather so I haven't had to put my heat on much.
6) I'm glad that it's Fall my favorite time of the year. Soon the leaves will be turning beautiful colors!
7)I am grateful I was invited to Thanksgiving dinner and will be with people I love!
8) I'm grateful my friend Shelley Hrdlitschka's eighth book, Sister Wife, is out, yet not officially launched. I was fortunate to read a wonderful article printed about her writing group, and the three novels they have coming out this spring! It's thrilling to watch a friend and her group succeed with such verve!
9) I'm grateful for these flowers I received last Sunday from gypsy goddesses garden, they brought me so much joy!
10)I'm grateful I purchased a bunch of red glass hearts, and some other bits for a very good price at a closing out sale. Now I can complete a lamp I'm altering for my family room!
11) I'm grateful I could use my new bag last Sunday even though it's not completed. I'm enjoying the colors and the little polka dots of apple green on pink! Color makes me happy! But so does black!
12)I'm grateful that my gypsy goddess friend uses her bag with the painted eye that I showed her how to adhere to cloth. She has also completed a a paper Mache bra for Cancer awareness month. It turned out absolutely stunning! I will display it when she sends me a photo! It's so fun!

13) Lastly I am grateful to have received a few really wonderful meaty emails from Cookie who is having a blog giveaway, Lucy, and Alan Rhyason who shared more of his art with me which I hope to display once I get permission! These I will respond to as soon as I have a spare moment! I also received a long phone call from a friend who I haven't heard from in a very long time, what a treat!

Thursday Thirteen various art forms!

Thursday Thirteen, thirteen photos of various Art forms! This fellow loves to make pattern prints on Return tops, put together scultures of lego!
He was at a festival in August. He agreed to let me post him as long as is was nice!
This is a sand scultpure of the Rolling Stones situated at the Vancouver P.N.E
to commemorate a first appearance there years ago!

These are photos of some prints the kids knew I would love.
Anyone recognize this artist or know the name?
I got Bryan to photograph the back of my hair immediately after it was done. Hair styles are also another important art form. Done properly we can look like a million dollars, a bad style can sculpt us into an instant frump!
Although I'm not one to personally have a tattoo, I certainly appreciate the artistic aspect of them and love watching programs such as Miami Ink to hear the heart wrenching stories behind the art!
Hidden tattoos with vivid ink and well thought out images were shared by a young store clerk. I complimented her stretched ears and jewelry, an older co worker volunteered proudly that she had many marks all over her body! We discussed it in detail. I was about to leave the store, then returned for a photo . She was sweet enough to oblige me. I regret not getting a photo of her pretty face and piercings! It's all interesting art to be enjoyed at our own discretion!
Check out that adorable red frog. It's rare to see such colorful tattoos,
I'm told some ink is better than others!
A beautiful planter of flowers!
Florists can make a beautiful bouquet rich with matching colors,
or they can mix it up so bad that its most distasteful!
Pooh made out of selected full jars and cans of food!
A tomato made out of selected full cans of food!
A semi permanent whale sculpture made with full tuna cans!
All of these cans of food will be donated to the food bank when the exhibition ends!
A small fiberglass car made for parades!
A tiny chair crafted by a logger with a chain saw!
Pepper was pulled from an audience of hundreds to help a Lumberjack hand saw some logs at the Pacific National Exhibition on sunday! Her ardent refusesal only enticed the audience to roar with laughter....after some argument she eventually sucumbed to the logger. Bryan suspected something was going to happen when the Lumberjack sat down beside them during the show! Her prize was this little chair. They toted it around all day, knowing once I saw the chair, accompanied with story I burst into fits of laughter. Which I did! I think it's adorable! I may even paint it up, find the Lumjacks website and send them a photo of the altered mini log chair! That's their coffee resting on it at the fair which managed to provoke a few more chuckles from passersby!

Thursday Thirteen #5 Creatiing a nice enviroment

Thirteen ways to create a nice environment to come home to!

One, Never walk through a closed door without first knocking and waiting for a reply.

Two, Clean up your own messes as you go, don’t make a huge mess while cooking dinner and expect someone else to clean it up, it builds resentment.

Three, Respect is a two way street, one begets the other.

Four, Take turns doing chores, but if ones person is gifted over the other and enjoys doing a particular chore, let them take it on. Work out what suits each person best, life flows better and some are quicker at one job over an other. It can free everyone up for fun!

Five, Teach thoughtfulness and equality in your home by always being fair.

Six ,Never yell, if you have a problem talk it out. If you can’t resolve it, sleep on it then revisit it.

Seven, Never excuse mean behavior in your home. Treat people in your home with kindness and dignity even if you feel angry.

Eight. always be sure your home is a soft place to fall, everyone should want to come home. Who wants to step into a place where a hundred demands await!

Nine. Greet people who enter your home with joy in your voice! But give them space in case they need time to collect their thoughts before they talk about their day.

Ten, Make time for peace in your home, where you can just create or veg out. Make it conducive to creativity, joy and laughter.

Eleven, Know your limits, how much you can accomplish in a day, try not to be unreasonable with yourself or others. ( This one took me years)

Twelve, Actively connect with at least one family member daily by having an intimate conversation. It helps those you live with feel loved and important, it feeds your soul too!

Thirteen, make sure to do at least one nice thing a day for the people you live with, ( of course mothers usually do more), showing and expecting kindness is nonnegotiable.

Children LEARN WHAT THEY LIVE

Thursday Thirteen "Rants"

Thursday Thirteen things to RANT about! ; Let me caution you this sounds like PMS, Menopause and residual past pent up anger all wrapped into one!

Anything on television pertaining to abused animals…anything at all. Oprah started to discuss puppy mills, as soon as I heard the word, I immediately flicked it OFF. That evening at dinner my eleven year old nephew proceeded to give me a play by play of what they do to the dogs. I begged him to stop! Warning him with my stern look, the one that means “ SHUT UP OR I'll SIT ON YOU”! Well at least that's what it meant when Pepper was little! He got it, but not before he said one thing that I can’t get out of my mind! I hate that so much!

Anything about abused kids makes me crazy too! One News station kept flashing over and over photos from a filthy disgusting pigs sty of a house that a one year old was finally rescued from! I couldn’t watch, Click, off it went! It’s insane the crap we’re fed over and over. I often listen while I toodle around in the kitchen. But who wants to watch or hear about a child suffering over and over again?…WHAT IS THE POINT I ASK!!! To totally desensitize the youth of North America! Hearing it just once embeds it in my heart!

All the young starlets that are picked on by paparazzi drives me insane too!! Leave them alone for cripes sake! Especially BACK OFF their children, they didn’t ask to be born into celebrity! Or to have cracked out parents either! How sad is this I ask! Way too friggin sad!

Then there is one little sweetie who has a wonderful artistic photo taken with her dad. A symbol of an innocent loving relationship! But people who’ve never experienced a good loving father daughter relationship are holding it up to scrutiny!! MY GOD has the COUNTRY GONE TOTALLY INSANE! My brother and my niece have the same kind of relationship; So did I with my dad! An innocent loving daddy relationship until the day he died. I could sit on his knee and cuddle even after I was married, not a soul thought it was odd, and many were jealous! Shame shame I say to those daring to judge something so precious and pure!

People who tend to complain about the same things over and over and never do a thing about it! That’s the definition of insanity! When they expect different results! Fix it already! Change your mind change your life!

People who refuse to be courteous drivers, the ones who never let you in when you signal for blocks!!! So darn frustrating and dangerous too! They need a spankin!

The blond haired bimbo on “The View” GET SOME LIFE EXPERIENCE WILL YA!….that’s all I have to say about that! Then quack all you want after that! Serve up that humble pie for that other one who always thought she knew it all!!! Welcome to the world of divorce. At least some of us attempted a longer kick at the can! Enjoy I say ENJOY the bite in the ass!

Those who complain about children and animals being too loud when they are in communal living situation! If you don’t like it, move somewhere quieter. When people live in close proximity there is bound to be some noise. Get over it! But If you hear abuse for heaven sake call 911!

I am so sick and tired of hearing on the News about another woman killed by her husband. Or father killing his kids!!! Do people seriously think women are lying when they say they THINK their husband might kill them. Or when they say they think he may kill the kids!!! BELIEVE THEM PEOPLE!!! BELIEVE THEM!! It probably took every bit of gumption to finally share their fears and yet it seems to fall on deaf ears! This is 2008 you’d think authorities could get that one right!

Okay I have read cult books since I was seventeen years old!! Why had they not done anything about that stupid polygamist cult sooner! That’s what it is, A CULT! Personally I don’t care if those men sleep with a hundred women and make them wash their smelly socks AND UNDERWEAR! But when you are a pedophile under the guise of religion, you need a butt kickin! When you use young boys as slave labor and young girls as baby makers, well I can’t even tell you how hot that makes me! It's NUTS I tell ya NUTS!

Why Is it that woman in power are always ostracized? It seems to always be that way! You’ve all read or heard this before. When a woman runs a company with authority she’s a bitch, but if a guy does it he’s great manager. That needs to change! Can you think of a powerful woman in your personal life that you detest?

Things that break down after owning them a short time!! Let's hold the manufacturers accountable for selling inferior products! Also why does everything have to be open so late... Close it down people...do we really need to shop until midnight most evenings! Can we not fit it in before then! Let's have a " TURN DOWN THE LIGHTS IN TOWN" campaign! The little guy trudges along trying to make a difference with his little green footprint, while big business burns brighter lights!

The very last rant....in a very long line of rants!..."MEAN PEOPLE SUCK!!!!" has been a bumper sticker on my car for years! They really do and " Big mean people make little mean people" another one also on my car!

So let's all have a happy Thursday Thirteen! Sorry if I riled anyone, but oh well, I feel better...tee hee!
