Newvember!!! Before and After Hair!

This is the photo of Beardo taken just a few moments
 before the big event!

After thirteen years of having long hair,
(usually tied back, see the elastic still around his wrist
defining him as an artist, he decided to make a change!
For the last six month this gentle giant who's always
kept shiny shampoo conditioned beard and hair
has been  searching for a stylish cut
that would entice him to take the leap!
He was able to donate it to wigs for kids which thrilled
him to bits since he's cut it once before for cancer donation!
We shall see how long this musician keeps it
short before reverting back to a lengthy style!
Both Cupcake and I love long hair, so
we love his hair either way!
However we both agree he sure
  looks handsome with it short!
Cheers to change in
Newvember!!

Sunday Scribblings "Nearly"

This weeks Sundays Scribblings prompt is " Nearly"

Nearly fifty five and I am still learning things about my deceased mother. As we all know Liz Taylor passed away recently. While another blogger made a commentary on Liz’s marriages and generous nature I was most struck by the  tube video  below!

Over the years my mother always seemed a bit outdated with her Hairstyles. It frustrated my brother and I since she was a hairdresser. In his effort to convince her to change hairstyles, I remember him telling her about attractive  women he spotted from behind who he thought were much younger because of their updated hair and clothing.  It was only when the women turned around he noted they were  moms age.

Mom tended to get a hairstyle and stick with it too long. Many of her customers were the same. As young adults both bro and I opted to get our own hairdressers. I’m sure  Mom was relieved  because she could never please us fashion wise. She was already doing all her relatives for free and had little interest in doing hair by then. She never commented on our hair either way once we switched beauticians.

Looking back at photos, mom was an  adorable young woman with fashionable outfits, and cute stylish hair.  Many of which I now see were fashioned after Ms. Taylor.  I see almost every hairstyle mom ever had in this video. Wow you learn something everyday.

It was a Beauty! The cake and the Celebration!

Gypsy goddess Laura made the most beautiful and scrumptious cake ever!! Only wish I wasn’t so full I could have had another TASTE!!!….that’s what the goddesses call seconds!!!

Laura ( here in the green) also crafted that beautiful single strand necklace (below) for Chris, with the reversible rectangular red and orange glass bead! The black necklace beneath is separate from the one Laura made. It's an interesting necklace too. Made with clear beads and black string.

Life is Art and I am always amazed at what a good haircut can do for a person. My mom was a hairdresser for over forty years; I spent countless hours watching her cut, perm and color hair. Mom also sewed, altered furniture and lamps to match rooms, and even made me a pair of shorts out of an old coat. Then; you altered thing out of fiscal necessity and because less material items were available. Now we do it for pleasure, to recycle and also to practice restraint!
This is the great haircut my friend the fairy goddess received yesterday! Last night we celebrated her birthday at our favorite Chili Pepper House restaurant. Where the food was exceptionally delicious!

Good Haircuts always leave me in awe!

Goddess Birthday Celebration, we had such a lovely time!
Our Earth goddess an avid hiker just came back from a hike in Peru; where a protest by the locals that became heated. The hikers and tourists were forced to escape. They were up all night on the bus ride to Lima. Connie said it was scary, every time the bus door opened they feared bandits would confiscate all their items of value including their passports! Hair Week

Since the “Hair” prompt for Sunday Scribblings was such a hit. I decided to make this Hair Week! If you have any funny hair stories either send them to me via email or post them on your blog and send me the link! Hope to hear from you!

I started drawing this picture for Illustration Friday , then realized it looked like my mom in her mid years when she used to give me that “YOU’RE NOT WEARING THAT" look! It’s most likely you will never see me with that color hair, shirt or makeup! For one thing it doesn’t suit me! Every daughter who has opposing views to her mother will understand the other reasons!

To continue with the hair prompt a few years back one humid summer day I was in Sunny White Rock for a doctor’s appointment and realized I needed to pay my taxes. There are a lot of Euell Gibbons types out there! Kudos for anyone who remembers the nature boy…(man) who endorsed snacking on twigs and things in nature! I spotted a guy riding an old battered ten speed….not the popular mountain bike of the times! He was a noticeable character with his week old facial stubble, longer graying hair and strange mannerisms. Notably cautious when doing banking, I watched this guy behind my mirrored sunglasses as he ambled around finding a place to park his bike. I entered the bank; he followed and stood directly behind me. He appeared a bit odd, but harmless….the line up was not moving. Yet I could feel a heat energy moving closer to my body. I told myself not to worry. The lineup was taking forever. I inched a few steps forward, giving the unkempt man space. A few seconds later I felt the heat on my back again! So I inched further forward a few steps out of his way. I was next in line to the teller. Before I knew it the strange man behind me had his nose in my hair…and was sniffing it!!! I flipped my head around; he jolted away and gave me that IT WASN’T ME look!” Yeah as though I didn’t feel and hear him sniffing into my massive curly locks. There was no mistaking what he did! There were no other weirdoes bowing their six foot frame into my hair, breathing down my back. I saw no six foot dog, who would be the only other likely candidate to be sniffing a human being outside of the bedroom!!! Ewww….I think my hair was sexually assaulted in the public bank line up!!! I just couldn’t get my taxes paid fast enough that day! I drove home immediately and fumigated my hair!!! What a creepy feeling that was!
