Poetry Thursday "Dregs"

Click pictures to enlarge

This week I requisitioned “unwoven” from the poetry Thursday randomizer. Working it into my poem about a young person being served the dregs! It saddens me to see young people lose their true identity in the nature of a partner! Whereas being enhanced by the support of a great equal can be a relationship well worth accommodating!

Dregs
Thunderous motor running
He arrives
Handed the dregs of his day
She receives it, relieved
Unwoven fibers of character
Fastened tight
To his perspective
Sloshing in grains
Residue muddies her face
Bitter demeanor ensues
Continually suspended
Sallow and lanky
Fraying at the seams
Wasting away
A corpse
Of who she was

So sad when a young womans self worth depends on what kind of a day her mate had!

Ah, you've written of a woman whose fate (and therefore her moods) is controlled by a man and his whims. Great poem, but very sad situation. xo

Yes, I feel sadness too, reading this... sometimes it takes a(lmost) a lifetime to become aware of your own personhood...

that is sad. to think of someone being a corpse of who she was. how easily i have fallen into this trap in the past myself. lucky for me, not any more.

Gorgeous art, harsh (I like it) poem--powerful combination. Amazing what you came up with from dregs.

you've captured an all too common situation here.

It is a sad reality but so true and it sounds like you've lived it first hand... thank god today YOU control your atmosphere!

A bitter brew indeed to choke a soul upon. Bitter.

Wonderfully written. Could be required reading for many.

Really brilliant. And it is really sad when young women get their spirit broken, stepped on and thrown out by guys that treat them like that. I'm really glad you wrote this. And I love the artwork!
