This is my illustration Friday piece for the prompt “Missing”
There seems to be a common thread amongst woman! I’ve even noticed it in highly accomplished woman. Although it’s not as blatant as my picture, there is that feeling that something is missing! Is it those old tapes that play in our heads from past critics? Is it the preponderance of blanket statements made by peers and parents along the way? I took this class many years ago, the facilitator asked us to write down those negative statements that our inner critic hears. Then she asked us to put names beside each statement. It was a surprising exercise! I challenge you all to take the test! How much credibility do you give those negative voices now?

Interesting ideas; you've made me think.
Great work! I'll have to keep that test in mind. :) Great post!

i love bright colors! YAY!
Why is it we can remember the negative comments from when we were small but the positive aren't as strong?
When you say write down the names, do you mean of WHO said the negative statements Sher?
I love your illustration. What do you use? Paint? your colors are so vivid. I think I found her missing earring in my dryer.
Sadly the voice of the inner critic is still quite loud in many areas. If I put names to the negative statements, sadly some will be my own. Oh but make no mistake, there are other names as well. This is an interesting exercise indeed.
XOXOXO

Far out picture, Giggles! I love it and the colors. And I really like what you wrote about the negative statements. It does seem that we can diffuse them with the names and take back the power they drained off. Very inspiring!
:)
Sounds like a powerful exercise Giggles. I'll try it.
Love the drawing and the music. Always fun to stop by!
Wonderful challenge ... those old tapes are SHIT! Listen to the music of your life ... you are melody and song and beauty. xx, JP
I like the vibrant colours in the picture and the tilt to her head. I think my inner critic is fairly well behaved and reasonable these days.
Thank you for all the support and wonderful words of love! You are the good voices in my head, and the reason I continue to blog! Sometimes the people you expect to support you never do, while others take the time to show they really care! You are all so appreciated!!
A million thanks to all of you!!!
Love and hugs to all!!
