My friend Richard Wiebe took donated coats, hats and scarves down to the Vancouver east side last night. These photos are accredited to him and definately worth a thousand words.
Not much can be said except these people are very unfortunate.... if you have compassion and love to spare these are the people who need Christmas spirit most.

There are more and more homeless every single day. Times are indeed tough. What a wonderful thing your friend did.
Have a terrific day. Big hug. :)
We had a family tradition of serving dinner on Christmas Eve and delivering Thanksgiving dinners.
My kid's enjoyed it but because I moved they stopped. I was the driver and door greeter ;)
These were very moving photos!

VANCOUVER, BC, DECEMBER 9, 2008: This website is dedicated to telling the stories of the unfortunate individuals living in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver in the hope that awareness of this problem will spur people to get involved, to let all levels of government know that something has to be done to alleviate this misery rooted in addiction, homelessness and depravity. To point the way to recovery from addiction, which we believe is the root of most of this situation. With the 2010 Olympics coming to Vancouver it is our mandate to record the transition and the extreme changes that are even now occurring and will continue to unfold in the Downtown Eastside.

Very moving pictures. They've inspired me to do more :)
I bet we would be surpised by some of their stories indeed. Sometimes I feel like it wouldn't take much for my family and I to be there.
The photos say it all. When people are down, they don't need someone to kick them, but to reach toward them. It might not bring you up or them up very far, but at least you've made the effort. Love costs, always!
From the bottom of my heart I'm
sending warm vibrations of love. It's a reminder to me to give out those extra coats and blankets.
xx
And therein lies the true Christmas spirit.
As our kids grow, we always have coats (and other warm clothes) to donate every yr. I hate to think of anyone freezing to death.
However, I've gone the easy way and others have collected and given them out. Your friend is a gem. These photos are amazing. Tis the season to think and help others. He certainly exemplifies that.
That really touches my heart.
those photos tore at my heart strings Sher, Makes you know that no matter how difficult we think we may sometimes have it, we don't know what difficult is.
thanks for the reminder. I always contribute to charities, but I need to do more.
