Word of the year paint party friday

Early December I picked my word for next year, didn't write it down and it vanished!  Then I read a lovely post The power of one little word, by Katherine Jeanne Wood...... about how the word Change affected her life. I was going to steal her word but  I'm not ready for that yet! So I decided to go through the alphabet....a J and a P came to mind....and I tried to think of words that would work with J nothing came to mind except joke....so I picked a "P" and Polish was the first word that came to mind...."JUST POLISH" that's exactly what I need, to polish my poetry, polish my painting, polish my words. So I decided to make a list of P words I want to incorporate into my New Year!!
This was factored after one of my favourite Masters Romero Britto
for Art Journal Journey
Polish, Purge, Paint, Poetry, Print, Pave the way for new things, Productive, Positive, Practical, Peace.

Last years " Glean" wasn't as good as the 2013's " Focus"! I am still a bit uneasy about "Polish" as my year is not off to the best creative start!  It seems to be more about writing than art these days! Every time I look at the word POLISH I don't see something smooth and glossy, I see Polish as in  people from Poland and want to fry up a sausage with sauerkraut....I just can't get used to it!! So I continued on my hunt for a new word...

Cupcake looked at some of my art in my gratitude book recently and commented that it was a bit kiddish! She is right it is, but she just purchased a very kiddish starbucks mug   with the eyes that we all love! I copied it as is,....looking very loose and quickly put together!!  So there is always hope for kiddish art! And since I am such a kid at heart it stands to reason I should focus on doing a kids book above all!!

Truthfully I am still trying to find my creative way.... I know only one thing  for sure! I am ALL about colour!! Plus I love doing digital art too but haven't quite the right tools for that yet! I asked myself what I want to accomplish this year because I am always all over the place. I admire those who can stick to one subject and focus on that. I want to feel confident in finding my style. I am a completely intuitive artist and wait for something to come to me, I rarely take charge of what I am going to create. Although at times I do! Maybe that's why the gratitude art journal could work for me because it's forcing me to think and draw more...still kidish though.

Are you still waiting for my word...... well at first I thought I really need to THRIVE....and then I thought nope still not it, ..... I need to BLOOM!! That's my 2015 word.....BLOOM.... and yes I want to do all the above too!!

Where do you see your creative year going? Did you pick a word and if so how did you decided on that word?

A very humorous little video on Britto art shoes....It's only a minute but you will get a chuckle out of it!! Sorry I tried to embed it but couldn't!

I think you found the right word for you, Giggles! Everything is blooming here in your blog. I have not chosen any word for the new year, but I hope to be able to use my colours in many ways!

I think its as good a choice as possible for a word. There is no bad choice-right? And as for your work looking kiddish- in your journal it can look like anything. And being kiddish is not a bad thing. Especially as its as fun an as unique as yours.

Kiddish or not, the fact that you are such a creative soul is the most important and that creativity is extremely inspiring. Thank you for sharing it!

Your post just gave me the giggles, Giggles. Especially how you couldn't decide on a word, that soooo sounds like me. I have trouble deciding on ANYTHING! And what's wrong with kiddish? My lizards are mostly kiddish and that's why they are so fun to make. Kiddish rocks!!!!Your art is spectacular!Happy PPF!

Bloom sounds like a great word! I enjoy your colourful childlike art! My daughter says the same about mine. I like how bloom evolved from polish, lol.

Loved reading about your search for your word and I really like the final choice "Bloom", that is so positive and I love your illustration for it too with these bouncy flowers and the happy ladies.

I'm using last year's word again, it was extremely useful!

You made me LOL (for real) with seeing polish as Polish. :D :D :D You might end up with some unwanted G W words at the end of the year..as in Gained Weight, so it's probably best that you changed it. :D

You put as much thought into your word as I do. It can be life changing, indeed. Thanks for the linky love. :)

Since last year was so crazy, I decided to tone it down this year and picked "share"..as in share my artwork on social media sites because I'm terrible at it, but think it is important to get the word out there..and since nobody's gonna do it for me..I have to stop being so lazy. It still could be life changing, tho..I've had some great offers come to me through FB in the past, so hopefully something good will happen.

Happy New Year! I always get happy when I see your work. Love your thoughts. Just keep doing what you do, it's all good. I seen the word polish and it made me thing of polishing the silverware. tee hee.:)

Variety is the spice of life! Maybe diversity is your style. I know I can't stay fixed in one style either. So I'm just going to continue flitting from one to another. About the POLISH, just polish… so glad it wasn't furniture or silver!

"Bloom" where you are planted! That's a good word for me too, since I don't know what my future holds with this principal coursework that I'm currently enrolled in. Blessings, my friend!

Your posts are always so thoughtful! My goal each January is simply to improve. I visualize all things good and positive, and bring them to fruition with my thoughts. Your artwork is charming, which must come from your charming soul :)

Loved your description ofyour process for finding you word. All would have bee good - but must admit Bloom is a great choice (mine too!)
May be both bloom this year!

Bloom is a good word! :-) That says something about growing and showing who yourself are!
I laughed when you told about frying sausages and Sauerkraut! I also thought of Polish people beside the other meaning of the word.
Your art is kind of "kiddish" though it doesn't sound nice in my ears it is very good thing! Your art is beautiful and colourful (which many people like) and it often is meaningful. So stick to it it is you I guess…
Wishing you all the best and good luck with your year of blooming! I have difficulty with staying with one thing too! I need a lot of projects to work on, so I don't get bored. This way I always have something interesting to go to!
Happy PPF and hugs Ilona

I forgot the first word I had chosen for 2015, too!
And then I thought of "bloom" as well!
But I really feel that I need to be more cautious with my energy this year, so the word "emerge" came to me.
The funny thing is that after I began working on a painting inspired by my word, I found the piece of paper I'd written my original word on and it was the one that I ended up with!
And I would have sworn it was something different!
