Random bits

Inspired by love Icad  #15 summer of color week 2
My post are usually quite heavy so this week I thought maybe
I'd just toss out a few random thoughts along with my
#icad2015 index card challengeinstead! You too can join
in any time. It always takes me on a new path. A few
years ago I  did  a shoe theme, then made this video
at the end of it!

This time I cut thin cardboard to the size of index cards since
I detest how thin the paper is. I search  the paint for images...
and magazines, for words to piece together. It's a little like
word association!! I'm really enjoying the process!
It's also a bit of a challenge for me to work smaller!
Listen for a message Day icad  #12
I love Lees work at "All about Me and Art" but she has recently changed her blog  and now it's harder to find! Her style is full of colour and whimsy!  I love Lees happy artwork, her posts are short, sweet, and she posts often! Check her blog here, and  her instagram here!

Always Hope  Day icad #13
I also wanted to share a couple of my favourite Instagram artists. Annie Belamy's characters crack me up! She  writes phonetically with an accent as they speak so it's often like a puzzle to figure out what they're saying! Hope you love her as much as I do!
Shine On  icad #14

I am also a huge fan of Lizabethannart she's doing faces at the moment but it's her big eyed children that I am in love with in all their many cute poses!

Humans of New york has been a favourite since I first started instagram, it's extremely heartfelt and I love it!

I have an instagram guilty pleasure, hes an internet sensation that I'm afraid might not appeal to my readers so I'm not sharing it...many probably have him on your feed....however if you don't mind  swearing and want to know who it is, just email me...  he  makes me laugh daily! Can anyone guess who it is?
Imagine Love Icad #14 I really don't like this one...but it works for soc too!

A couple of months ago I was bleaching some white cloths with just a touch of bleach. I accidentally tossed in  Beardos really nice, light blue shirt with yellow polka-dots before thinking twice! I loved that shirt so much, he did too...and sadly the bleach took out the blue. I was so upset I bought him a new shirt. In the meantime Cupcake got on her tye dying kick and decided to take the ruined shirt and give it a shot! The results were wonderful and now he has a  Tye dye dress shirt that is all the envy of his workmates! Phew...now it's one of his new favourites!! The best part, he wasn't even mad at me, instead he kept laughing because I was so upset!

New Miracle Icad #16
I bought my own clothes with baby sitting money from the age of 13 on. I had a top I just loved!  It went missing. I looked high and low for my favourite top to no avail!  I asked my mom several times if she had seen it! After days of whining about my shirt...mom, snickering to herself,  finally pulled the shirt from her hiding place.  It had shrunk to the size of a dolls top, she was afraid to tell me....I was so angry.... but in retrospect it was pretty funny.
Dream Play Icade #17
A couple of weeks back when I posted about my friends phenomenal memory about dates, likening her talent to a savant.....Well lo and behold my dear friend reads my blog and signed my Birthday Card....From the Savant...Oh my goodness did we have a good laugh!!
Thankfully she has the most amazing sense of humour and reminds me a lot of my blog friend Traceyfletcherking!
Dazzle your mind Icad #18
I'm on day four of a cleanse with Beardo and Cupcake! Basically we have omitted, dairy, sugar, white flour and all goodies in the free world....the kind I love. A while back I stopped using an artificial sweetner in my coffee.... Truth be told Beardo kindly weaned me off it! So life is very full of veggies which it always was, only now I have to eat way more often than I ever have before!! Doing it as a family is a lot easier!!
Dare to Bare your art! Icad 19
Day one I took a sip of the  recommended shake Cupcake made following the recipe perfectly...and thought....Yeah, I CAN'T do this....
then I tried a few more sips, chased with my coffee.... it was okay...Proudly I drank three quarters of the shake, then went to take another sip and gagged so bad...yeah NEVER drinking that again.. Cupcake managed to get  them down, three days in a row, then opted to make her own version,  a tastier one. She is the best drink maker ever!! Beardo didn't like the recommended version either, but managed two days before he switched too a tastier one! ! It filled us up...just tasted like poo....well not poo....I've never had poo...but it was bitter and how I imagine poo to taste... I think it was the cranberries and chia seeds... not sure..
. thankfully I now have a few fresh berries instead.

Rich in Fun Icad  #20
Both my daughter and I are very good cooks, and Beardo is excellent at the two B's
Baking and Barbequing, oh and he makes a mean fancy grilled cheese! Darn why did I say grilled cheese.....I want cheese....
We all like tasty food!! Thankfully Cupcake knows how to make all the cleanse food tasty. After the ten days I'm pretty sure we will adopt some of these good habits!! I do miss my potato covered in junk though....and pasta...but that's it..... I CAN DO THIS!!   No one is weighing themselves...we are just gauging things by how our body feels. I'm going to eat my chicken salad now..... Have a great week!!

What is your least favourite food?
Mine is beef stew..please don't tell me how you make the best stew in the world  with beef tenderloin and I would love it... I have detested it since I went to bed hungry at three...and have not eaten it since...Apparently even I can make a good beef stew....but after I divorced I vowed to never make it again... and I never will... I despise  the smell of beef simmering... that's why it repulses me.  Doesn't matter how good that stew is....I plead vegetarian on that front... I'm NOT eating it!!

These are super fun! I love the dog at the top, the dazzle your mind and the cat ones the best but they are really all fun. You have such an individual style its always a pleasure to stop by!

I thoroughly enjoyed your random bits! And I agree with you about Lee and her art. She's one of my favorites, and very original and creative.

I also love your colorful art. It always makes me smile. I've told you that before and it's still true.

Enjoyable visit with you today, Sherrie. Love all the drawings/paintings. I loved the shirt story. The tie dying is beautiful. I have had a few laundry disasters in my lifetime. Looking back it's always funnier than at the time it happens. I love roast beef, beef stew, steak, etc. My least favorite food in all the world and I wouldn't eat it for love or money is okra. Now fried okra is a staple in the south and all my family loves it. But I have horror story memories of grade school and vegetable soup with slimy okra floating around in it. If you've never seen boiled okra, think what comes out of your nose when you have a bad cold.

It's always an interesting challenge to either work smaller (or larger) than you usually do. But a fun challenge none the less! Happy PPF!

Lots of great art today, and I LOVE that tie-dyed shirt, wow! Hugs, Valerie

I liked the random bits... Loved the tie dye shirt... That is awesome and smirked and laughed at your cleanse tales... Of course I was virtuously eating some all natural nut spread stuff on Apple slices but just reading the wors pasta has me plotting and planning a carb fest dinner... Have to say that facing up to some shakes is a bit tough... Phants and I have been trying our own and making some awesome ones... And a few scary ones... But I do love a good shake... Enjoying your Icad this year also... Working small is tough... So tough that I do my cuppas bigger than normal index card size... I just tell myself they are the jumbo card size... Have a great week...xx

I love that your family is doing the no-free world foods together. It's amazing how well it works with support!!!! The photo of your husband in the tie-dye shirt is my favorite. What a trooper he is!

I love that little dog sitting so funny! Great post, I enjoyed all the random bits and looking at the links to the instagram folk - I love instagram and and spending more and more time on there as I work out how to use it - I'd be interested to know who this person is you follow - I'm intrigued and being Irish I'm well used to colourful language!!
I've recently cut out bread - which was a huge part of my diet - and I feel so much better for it. I'm trying to eat gluten free and it turns out a lot of the fake meat products I eat have wheat gluten in so I'm moving away from them and just eating more veg which can't be a bad thing. I can't give up my crips though (Potato chips) they are my downfall but I figure as my diet is mostly vegetables a few crisps can't be too bad!

I really like your icads, especially numbers 15, 16 and 19. You have such a wonderful sense of color and shape, as well as wisdom with your words. That was a pretty smart way for Cupcake to rescue Beardo's shirt. I'm kind of compulsive about how my clothes are done, so I do all the laundry. I think my wife enjoys that, LOL! Happy PPF!

I love seeing all your faces! The shirt came out great! I'm off to check out some of the links you shared. Have a great weekend.

Thanks for sharing the funky icads, love your SOC piece too! Least favourite food is kidneys...the smell while cooking turns me off. I still remember that from about 30 years ago when someone made it for me.

SUPER ICADS!!! I couldn't pick a favorite. And I do remember your fabulous shoes book too! Nice that you can partner up with your family to do the cleanse together. And it's also just as good to find and change some shake ingredients so as to at least make them drinkable:) I don't have instagram-sounds like I'm missing out some, but I'm OK with it for now.

denthe said...

hahaha! Your comments about the shake made me smile. I have experience with quite a few of those, and every time I think I can do it, and every single time it just makes me want to puke. How anyone can drink that for weeks in a row is beyond me .... That shirt of Beardo is so amazing, he seems like a wonderful man, being able to laugh when his favorite shirt is ruined. Not many would .... Your ICADs are great as always. I especially like #16 and #19.

I love all your ICADS, as already stated, but sorry, they are too small for Art Journal Journey, we have a minimum size and the ICADS don't cover it. Hugs, Valerie

Such a colourful post, so much to enjoy here, you made me smile with your food stories, beef stew, my hubby doesn't like the smell of that either, funny that!
I don't like chick peas too much but mostly I love everything!

I actually came to see your SOC entry and was glad I also saw your ICADs, because I'm playing there, too. I remember your shoes and how fun it was to see them each week. What you're doing this year is phenomenal.

Loved the back story on the tie dyed shirt. Too funny.

Carol said...

All of your art is fantastic this week!!!!! Love the shirt save :) Tie dying is in this week :) I'd have to say deviled eggs is my least favorite food. I used to love them...However when I first was pregnant with my daughter I worked at a restaurant as a cooks helper. My job was to make the deviled eggs for the weekends. I would have to do hundreds of egg and would be an awful green color when I was done. I didn't last long at the restaurant after getting pregnant :)

Oh how I love seeing all these lovely pieces of art. Each one has it's own story and speaks for itself. Your use of colors and text is very interesting, and makes me search for "their souls". Simply love them all.

Loved this blogpost which was just like a friend's chat over coffee.
My favourite of your Icads is the first with the seriously cute happy dog and his friend the bird, but I like all of your Icads, inspiring artwork.
What a story about the shirt, Beardo is an absolute charmer.
Just looked back and Icad 14 with the little blue fellow, is marvellous, I might have to make that equal favourite with little dog.

That was a good post! I love the tie dye shirt. I know it came from an accident but it sure looks good now!

The ICADs are beautiful! I love #18's message :)

My least favorite food is liver. My mom made me eat it as a child and I never got over it. I'm a vegetarian now, lol!

Unknown said...

Your icads are coming along nicely! Such a vast array of ideas. And the tie dyed shirt is spectacular. Carrots - won't eat em!

Kristin Dudish said...

Oh how I love seeing your cards on Instagram & this is a great accompanying post! The fun bits in between are great... I'd say that shirt turned into a happy accident :)
I have LOTS of favorite foods... Pasta, Pizza, Doughnuts... Since I'm a vegetarian I'll definitely agree with you about the beef stew ;)
Oh, and any drink you make with chia seeds you'll want to drink right away because it turns to sludge if it sits too long - ack! (Great for making puddings, not so great for drinks! lol)

I love these icads! My fave is the doggies! They look so pleased with themselves. I am vegetarian but my dog is not!!

Katie Jeanne said...

Ooh, reading this was fun! :) My least favorite food is meat and seafood. I've been a vegetarian since I was 13, and my parents brought me to a slaughterhouse to order a side of beef. I never liked meat all that much before that, but would eat it if I was forced..but, after seeing all those poor animals hanging from hooks, ewwww!! I just can't. I went to bed hungry a lot of nights back then because I refused to eat.
