Find something you like! Paint Party Friday

Face #10 Poppy loves the magic of colour!
Some people wake up assuming it's a cloudy day long before opening a curtain! Except for a few aches and pains I like to look at the sunny side of life  here in the outskirts of rain city! Waking up positive is a great way to start the day. It's not easy for some, especially those days when there truly is a money, illness, grief cloud over your head!
Last weeks faces with a Warhol inspiration
Face #13 Sam has way too much on his mind!!
Sometimes  I spot things unappealing, but instead of dwelling on them, I like to park my negative thoughts to focus on things I do like, such as art or scrabble! When something offensive occurs I compartmentalize it  to move on, searching  for the niceties.  It can be difficult when there is such a barrage of negativity constantly streaming online.

If a friend gets an unflattering haircut I'm not the one to fictitiously say I love it. Instead I'll clam up and focus on something I do like. If I love the new cut I'd be the first to mention it  more than a few times as I revel in the flattering difference!

I can gauge a persons character when they present an insincere compliment! That kind of character scares me, since they're more interested in being liked than sincere. Or perhaps they're trying to be kind with their fib! That kind of deception is not me.  I find it hard to trust those handing out fake compliments!  It makes me wonder what other deception they're feeding me.

It's not necessary to fib about things less appealing because there's usually something  to admire about a person or situation. Hone in on what you like, flatter them with that instead.   Some how it lightens the offensive parts! However I caution you omitting the unattractive parts, or sweeping them under the carpet when making a love connection. Since those less attractive features often double in size into gnarly bits with teeth over time. Just sayin....
Day #9 The Gardener is  looking forward to the harvest moon!
For the momentary short encounters find something lovely about a person. Whether it's their eyes, or smile, the colour of their shirt, their rings, or nicely groomed nails....focus on what's appealing... not on the offensive bits!! The same goes for experiences, events, decor, creativity ... Even when my my mom was dying a few decades ago, I met some lovely nurses, a music therapist, and had my friends who all brought so much joy into my life during a traumatic time! It gave the situation balance, with some nice moments, it made life bearable.
Face #11 and #12 are a couple who love colourful Toques!
My daughter often says." what? what?"  as she catches me admiring her lovely face, fresh nail polish or the way her body moves like a dancer with a pony tail bobbing behind. Don't assume people focus on the bad bits, because some people prefer to hone in on the good ones! Often it's the whole picture of a person that tells the real story anyway.  Even the most attractive people with  moody whiny attitudes become less appealing, and annoying. Where as the plain jovial ones with a twinkle in their eye, a sense of humour, and open heart can be the most alluring!  Looking for the good things where they aren't as evident is a beautiful habit. If you need to share the bad experiences, marry it with a positive good aspect too. It makes the story seem less miserable. Ask yourself what five things you liked about your day so far?

Do you prefer to complain and dwell on the bad
parts of an experience, or hone in on the good bits?

I was a teacher for 35 years, and it was always important to emphasise the good parts, without forgetting the bad parts! Love your colourful faces, especially the Warhol style ones. Happy PPF, Hugs, Valerie

What a great variety of faces - number 13 actually reminds me of the model Twiggy from the 60s!

Oh I love Poppy and all her colours, great work as always but this is a definite favourite! I'm definitely for all the positive and beauty in life, such abundance when you are grateful and take the time to enjoy! Negatives get lost when you focus on all that is good around you!

More gorgeous faces this week. And I am not sure I am either complainer or good thing dweller. I think for me it depends on the situation, and where I am in the processing a situation. Have a great weekend.

Love your Warholfaces! Very true what you're staying, and the world would be a better place if we all started looking for the positive.

I totally believe in looking for the good in every day. No matter how bad things can get there is always something to enjoy and to be grateful for. It can be the smallest thing that can make your day worthwhile.

We can truly train ourselves to think positively and what a difference it can make in the way we experience each day.

Have a wonderful week.

Great week of faces. I got a kick out of your "art or scrabble" statement and "gnarly bits with teeth". My favorite faces this week are faces #11 and #12. Although I always like seeing the different colors in the "main" face.

what marvelous portraits just full of expression and color-love! I really adore Poppy. After years of learning I can now spot insincerity and false flattering, and what's funny is that those around me who have the same feelings can easily pick out the "fake" too. And sadly, often the "faker" doesn't even realize what they sound like or how insincere what they say feels like. It's much easier to look on the bright side of life with a good dusting of sincerity :)

good bits - definitely! My 5 things - 1. dog, 2. art, 3. outside walking, 4. music and 5. no rain :)

I must admit, I spent more time on your narrative than I did on your painting, which are full of expression.

Your words of wisdom on how to approach people is so important in this age when we flip off quick remarks on fb or twitter, or texting. The instructions you have shared should be written on our palms so we see it every time we are tempted to say something insincere. I have for years followed your plan...and it's amazing the wonderful things you can see and find out about a person who may not have their best quality out front. Thank you for sharing this important message.

And I do say Sincerely, Thank you again. Wanda

I do love your introspective posts. I think it's natural to vent the negative to get it out and move on positively. It's when one dwells on negative or uses it for attention or to hurt some one that it becomes detrimental. I like to be positive and kind at all times even when I might feel off. Your Warholesque art really cool :)

Always enjoy reading your posts , seeing your faces and learning their stories. And the "fakers" are usually those with the limp, dead fish handshakes that often comes before they open their mouth.

There are some things in my life that would make a grown woman run down the street screaming. Instead of bringing that attention to myself. LOL I do wake up every morning thanking the gods for what I have, who I am, and the gift of my life. Is that difficult? Sometimes but once I start out positive the rest of the day is good. I keep only positive people in my circle of friends as well. You, your art, and your wonderful post are always encouraging and inspiring. Happy weekend to you.

I'm with Poppy. I love bright colors in my clothes and my surroundings. They make me happy. Would love to have a toque like the one with the green ball on top. I always enjoy seeing your very colorful art. I agree with you about keeping to the positive.

I always try to be positive. I feel like if I wake up and put both feet on the floor it's gonna be a good one. I see the positivity in your art. Maybe that is why I like it so much. I like Sam a lot!

The positivity is so important when we are faced with so much negativity. I find it is so pervasive through the media and tv and movies... Which is fine as they can all be turned ff and ignored! I like to look for the positives... So much gentler on the soul and easier on the nerves...

I like this post. I agree it is so important to focus on the positive!
Faces 11 and 12 remind me of Cupcake and Beardo. :) I always enjoy seeing your art! Have a great week!

It is so important to practice daily listing of what you are grateful for. It really does boost one's spirit to find the good in the day, in people. Wonderful, thoughtful post. Love your faces as well - so full of colour.
Thanks so much for stopping by.

I always get a positive boost when I read your posts every Friday morning first thing.
That's a difficult one about a friend's haircut, I think I would be more inclined to say I liked it, rather than changing the subject.
And if you say to someone, "I look awful" and they say, for example, "You've got pretty ears", you think, is that all, just my ears?
It's a minefield out there!
Love the colourful toques couple, they are in a world of their own.
Hope you have a positive happy week.

Poppy is gorgeous - love her 'pop' of colour - she has a bright vibrancy about her.
Love Sam's eyes no matter the colour!

Wonderful faces! I definitely prefer focusing on the good bits, but sometimes it's hard to forget the bad parts entirely, and sometimes, it can also be useful to dwell on the bad parts in order to learn from it and avoid making the same mistakes again.

FOCUS on the Positive! ♥ though I fear my family gets the negative bits all too often! lovely art work here, I think 'Sam' is my favorite...so handsome!!

Lots of bright wonderful colors as always! This blog always makes me smile when I drop by. I love the toques, a fun painting :) I think it would be so draining to dwell on the bad parts of experiences all the time... even if I can't help it sometimes, lol. But better to move on to nice things when you can.

I see the Warhol essence in the faces. Good job. I love the green guy, he looks thoughtful. Positive is always better than negative and a smile cuts through everything. I notice on my morning walks that 'my' walkers are always looking for my smile. They missed me when my knee was out. It's always nice to be missed. Blessings, Janet PPF
