Repealing Goals

Thank you for all your wonderful comments last week!
I've come to the conclusion most artists are more intuitive
based creatives! As am I.
Last year it was my goal, or should I say plan, to
make fifty consistent  flat cards, of life suggestions,
in my goofy digital style. I have surpassed that now,
with  67, and I'm going for 70. Then I plan to edit some,
possibly changing the font... which I have purposely
left messy since I am writing upside down at times,
with a mouse! Sadly the dpi on the cards is not
conducive for proper printing... but I will figure out
how to transition that, or replicate the cards!!
Any suggestions are welcomed!!
Either way it's been an enjoyable process created
on my Windows paint program!  It's a fun series
which I may continue just for the joy of it!
Our home is filled with three intuitive creatives.
It's as though the muse passes through and we
must quickly catch those moments before they disappear!
Cupcake has a list of things she wants to complete,
but sudden urge to create her first bow tie struck.

Putting aside her mental list she created a mock
up for practice, before using good fabric. Beardo
loved it so much he claimed it! Her attempt  to make
it in one piece proved challenging. It took hours
as we all tried tirelessly to  pull it inside out!
The next tie will be created in two pieces
instead of one!
For us, living a creative life requires quiet time to feel
and hear new ideas.  We need good boundaries so
others don't infringe on our much needed creative hours.
We also require time to regenerate, and find inspiration.
Plus we need a bit of focus, so we don't sabotage our
 creative time doing other things!
The dancers!
I've heard tell, Tyler Perry holidays alone, so he can
have complete freedom to write non stop. Last night
I heard Seinfeld say at sixty one he feels free to say "NO"
all the time now!

Only recently have I felt free to say "no!"
Even then, it will be questioned, which I don't feel I need
to answer. But, I've been tested! I have always valued my
free time, so I really respect those who take time to
foster their talents too! I'm not sure highly social beings
understand that concept quite the same!
Original journal page
Even though I routinely write and create, it doesn't always
materialize into anything cohesive. Hence the many drafts
in blogger that may never come to fruition!

I'm happy to have the time to create, but I'm thrilled when
something turns out well. Yet those pieces are few
and far between...so I continue on. Waiting patiently
for those really special creative moments  to show up
on the page, or canvas! In the meantime I play,
and these fun characters emerge!

To one day form a child's picture book
for my  own personal delight!
For now, I'll repeal any goals and make plans
to continue  piecing together art that
comes from goodness knows where, onto the
page. Then beckons words to join it, as an
after thought!
Again thank you for helping me realize that goals really aren't
the way for me to go. Instead I will piece things together
when I intuitively feel they're ready!
What do you do to protect your creative time?
Do you find it hard to say No?

The bow tie is adorable, and I think you are creative on so many levels... it is quite the thing to fill a post with such thoughtful and composed words every week, and then on top of that you fill them with colour and energy visually...for me I am creative all the time... it is just a way of life and state of mind. I find it harder to stay within the lines sometimes... it feels like that way of doing things lacks the spark and fun... your posts always manage to walk a line of whimsy and yet they contain heft and thought... quite the balancing act, which you appear to step through effortlessly.

oh, I do hope you continue your life suggestions! I really enjoy them! Writing upside down with a mouse... wow, that's quite an achievement! I'm very happy to read I'm not the only one requiring alone time. It's hard sometimes to find the quiet I need to muse things over and try things out, and I often feel guilty when I demand that time for myself. And you're right: other people very often don't understand that need. It sure causes a lot of frustration in my life ... I can totally relate to Tyler Perry :-)

Lovely colorful art and fun too. I have a giving personality so I had a hard time saying no when I decided to do so. It's much easier now when I've got used to it.

If you get the urge to create a bow tie, you've gotta make a bow tie and Beardo looks fabulous in his pink bow tie, it really suits him. Is he going to wear more bow ties now? Nice one, Cupcake!
I always love your enthusiastic and so-colourful art, here my special favourites are the dancers and the bluebird.
There are so many ways in which creative time is encroached upon, eating, cooking, sleeping, meeting friends, going outside - but I suppose we have to allow some Real Life into our world, haha!

I love the bow tie! I used to have a hard time saying "no," as well as major issues with perfectionism. However, the older I get, the stronger I've gotten. I can still feel those fears sometimes, but I'm definitely more in control of what I say and do. Blessings to you and your family, my creative writer and artistic friend! PPF #43

Your art is about the most vibrant and happiest I know and it brings me such joy each week!
Hard time saying no? HA! Not any more, and perhaps that comes with age and lessons learned:) Happy PPF!

Lucky for me I have a very understanding and supportive hubby. He is always respectful of my need for alone time whether I'm creating or reading or just day dreaming.

As I've gotten older I've learned to say no (like Seinfeld, I guess!)Sometimes it's easy and sometimes not so much but I stick to it because I NEED that alone time just as much as I need food, water, and sleep.

PS - forgot to say I always enjoy your fun characters!!

I love your whimsical animals and people, Sherrie. I think you really should write a children's book and illustrate it. I only create when the mood strikes me. If I try to force it, nothing good comes of it. I think a lot of things we do are really creative. I teach a Bible study that requires quite a bit of creative planning. I'd never thought of it in that light, but I do now. Keep up the good work.

Oh such great art, that last colour combo of red dog and blue bird is my favourite! I'm o.k with saying no, it feels so much better than doing something I'm not happy with, it's about gently listening and respecting oneself I think. I carve out my creative time when the time feels right and when I feel relaxed, usually when Lulu is put to be at night, then I must also shut down computers, t.v and any such distractions to fully enjoy.

To protect my creative time, I turn off the television after we have watched our favourite recorded shows and saying no to any new shows!

I so enjoy our perspective and intuition!

Your header quote really made me smile...about letting out your inner weirdo!

Thanks for sharing each week. You are an inspiration!

An art instructor I have uses the Procreate app. She takes pictures of her art and then uses the app to add layers and trace her original app. It may help you with your work?

Ohhhh let your inner weirdo out?? That is me all the time. I just feel if you don't like me (strange and weird) then you better not be pals with me. LOL Missed your post last week but I do know that if I plan, it doesn't work out so great. Let if flow. You are a wonderful artist and most of us really can't have a plan or deadline. As always your post and art is heartfelt.

A children's book, how wonderful! Gosh, I hope you write it someday. I am guilty of sabotaging my
creative time doing other things, mostly watching mindless TV. I've come to realize this happens when I feel overwhelmed at work. Thank you for stopping by and leaving an inspiring comment earlier.

That bow tie is absolutely adorable! And wow, what a great project you're working on, and how great to have made even more than you planned! Time to create is so important. For me, it's more a question to saying Yes to myself.

Love the tie.
I find I have to take some time and discipline myself. I am retired, but there is so much to choose to do. I love drawing while my client slept every Thursday afternoon. That gave me a routine.
