More Characters, an anniversary!

Day 25 The Inventor #icad 55
Partnered with someone twenty five years is a long time. Married
for twenty three years in a less than satisfying relationship is
hard work.  To have little eyes observing the dysfunction is
even worse! Providing substantially, as a team, and biting
your lip to maintain peace is not enough! Especially when
daily nuances of disdain and frustration trickle in, eating
away at your soul! Eventually it may not be
healthy or worth all the heartache!
Fashionista Day 28 #icad 58
I always worried I was teaching my daughter
how to live in an toxic marriage. The thought of
observing her in a similar relationship to mine
kept me up nights! Wondering daily how long I could
tolerate my situation. The logistics always gave me
pause as I worried life would be worse on my own!
 Day 23The Acrobat #53
Which it was at times. Some friends envied my
freedom. I reminded them everything was a trade off.
The first few years were unforeseen and  so difficult!
Eventually the situation mellowed, life became more
peaceful! Still there were many hardships but we
made do!
Day 24 Yoga Instructor #icad 54
Having such a lovely network of friends
and an empathetic brother,
got me through the worst of times!
Even at ten with all the turmoil she
suffered Cupcake knew not to repeat my
mistakes!

Thankfully history would not repeat with
her relationship! Instead she found a kind,
talented jack of all trades with the same
good nature as my father, the grandpa
she never knew!
Love this photo of Cupcake and Beardo at the Martin Short, Steve Martin show!
They are able to dance through life enjoying
each other as best friends! Supporting each
other through tough situations, and holding
 each other up with kindness!

Ballerina day 22 Icad 52
Sunday July 31st   will be the twenty year
anniversary of one of the worst days of my life,
that lead to hundreds of the best days of my life!
The Banker day 26 #icad 56
Have you ever had to make a trade off that
turned out better or worse than expected?
Day 27 Treasure Hunter  #icad 57
Since that ugly day two decades ago
I have found my ability to create art
in ways I never thought possible!
Purchased and hung onto a very
nice comfy home for eighteen years.
Day 30 The Artist Icad 60
Best of all I raised a kind, loving, humanitarian!
A gifted strong woman who I can trust and  laugh with!
Cupcake  sent me this photo of shoes she saw  at Winners
I apologize if anyone likes these dolce and gabbana shoes.
I find them hideously clumpy with the crocheted gold tips
and gramma old timey jewelry! That's not the worst part!
On sale they are almost a thousand dollars with tax....INSANE!!
Who would pay regular price of  almost fourteen hundred dollars!!
You could buy a couch on sale for that!!
We both laughed so hard. They may be comfortable and
sturdy, and the colour  is okay...but my goodness
these are a show stopper ugly for sure!!

  seen at Nordstoms
Also a thousand dollars a pair....Cupcake was pretty sure there
were a few pairs of these lovely shoes in our Halloween box
in the back of the closet. Shoes I wore back in the day!
Of course they don't share the same label or price!!
For now I'll stick with my wedgies!!

What's the most you ever spent on a pair
 of shoes or boots?

So glad your daughter has the happy marriage that you were denied Giggles.

I think I won't go over say $120 a pair but usually a lot less, especially these days!

I believe the hardest decision I had to make was when I uprooted my family from the Dallas-Ft. Worth area to move to little Del Rio, TX, down on the border. However, it turned out to be a marvelous place to raise our girls. As to your shoe question, I believe my most expensive shoes were my ostrich leather cowboy boots. They were on sale, but I still paid quite a bit of money for them. They are my pride and joy. By the way, I LOVE your doggies in the title section of your blog. Blessings, my friend!
PS - I hope you don't have trouble leaving a message this week on my blog. If you leave a message, I will e-mail you and let you know as soon as I get it.

Loving all your painted characters-they always have such wonderful personalities that come thru! An anniversary that has turned your life around in such great ways and one that has given you peace of mind and opened new doors is definitely worth celebrating-congrats!! I agree the D G shoes are awful, and I would never pay such high prices -no matter how special the shoe! That money could go to so many better things. Hope it's not too hot for you as it has been here. Happy PPF and have a super weekend!

Love the art today!!!! I lived in a toxic marriage for 18 years so I know your pain. I felt I had to stay for the kids and now I know that was a mistake of major importance. All is well now but it has taken us many years to recover. I don't think I've ever spent over $75 on a pair of shoes...tempted a few times but never have.

Out of bad can come good. I believe you used that time of your life to forge a better life and you have come out on top. The fact that Cupcake and Beardo have a good marriage means that you succeeded in guiding her. Your art is always fun to see. I like the fashionista and the yoga lady best. As for Nordstrom's, what were they thinking??? I can't imagine paying that much for anything to wear, much less shoes. In the summer I practically live in my Aerosoles' fisherman sandals. I have several pairs in colors I like. I even wear them to church. I figure at my age I can be eccentric as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else.

Oh my!!! Those shoes are... just wow. I might wear them as part of a costume. I hope this July 31 is a most wonderful day for you, your best one yet. Your art brightens my day as always :)

Fabulous post. I am with you on leaving my first husband to make a better life for me and my kids. It was all worth it. Some years later found a great guy that I have been almost 35 years with. The most on shoes? They were for dancing 5 inch heels $150.00. My brother and I won the competition. Thanks for the compliment on my art and the mention of DH. We are not out of the woods yet, taking it one day at a time. Have a wonderful weekend.

Your paintings are just so much fun! And each has its own character shining through. Love them! Thousand dollar shoes ......? No way! I don't think I've ever spent more than 50 dollars on a pair of shoes ...

Gorgeous whimsy people. I thought I was a dog person, too, before I got my first cats. :) Now I'm both.

Your characters are tremendous, this is a great series. The eyes of these people say so much, the confident eyes of the banker, the dedicated eyes of the ballerina and the sad eyes of the treasure hunter. The eyes of the artist are a bit manic, I understand completely, she is not present, her brain is processing art ideas.
As for shoes, I find it really difficult to get a pair to fit, so on the rare occasions I do find a pair, it doesn't really matter what they cost (within reasonable reason) so long as I can comfortably walk miles in them (they must be perfectly comfortable).
Have a great week!

Great art again - I love all those characters - so good that beardo and cupcake are so happy together - you raised her in the right way ♥♥♥ for sure!
And it's wonderful how happy it makes you that they have such a good life together.
Happy belated PPF!

As I was 18 I bought a pair of boots - so expensive - the most expensive shoes I ever bought - about 1100 Canadian Dollars - and this is more than 30 years ago. It were the most beautiful brown soft glove leather and I had them for at least 10 years. I will never forget this pair...the luxury of my life - lol!

Great art and words! And I would never spend that kind of money on shoes! So glad you are having a happy anniversary. Your daughter has a great mom. ;)

Great characters, most I like the acrobat.
Good, that you could change the bad things for you.

When I saw my parents' marriage, I decided never to marry. My mother lost her creativity in this time and since then she goes aa a very bitter woman through the world and destroys all other people around her the joy.
I think I did the right decision for me. Have a loved friend, but do not live together. We are both autistic people...

Send you a cool breeze

I'm glad your daughter has such a wonderful partner. Your art is very sweet. I'm not sure what the most I've spent on shoes is, certainly not anywhere near as much as that blue number on sale or not...

Wonderful characters! Oh my, those shoes... They are for people with too much money and no taste, for whom only the name of the designer counts. I used to spend more money on clothes, and especially shoes when I was younger (though nowhere near that price tag!) but these days, I prefer to buy art supplies :) I buy most of my clothes and shoes when I'm in England, where it's much cheaper than here.
I'm sorry to hear about your marriage, but glad that you have so much, goodness and creativity in your life now.

So happy you found the courage to leave that toxic marriage. Cupcake sounds like a wonderful person & one you don't need to worry about much. Love the artwork... oh, and those SHOES!!! omg, i will never understand those who buy for the brand name. I don't give a rat's ass who designed them. I would never buy them because 1) they're ridiculously priced and 2) they're ugly. :) There. I said it. ;) xx

I have so MUCH empathy for you., but art is the greatest gift ever. When I am working, I forget everything about life that causes my worry and angst when I pick up my paint and pens. You little portraits are adorable. I cannot pick out a favorite. This is the most wonderful collection. Give yourself a big pat on the back for all of your beautiful work. genie
