Before and after art play

Happy 6th Birthday!
Paint Party Friday
"Smitten!" Another completed page in my art journal!
On a  mission to complete several art
journals I've been revisiting old pages filled
with colour. I managed to lift this couple
using charcoal pencil from  background
lines within the paint! Visiting an old page
after a long break can help you see things
with new vision!
Intuitive sketch as these two emerge from the paint!
The creative well is ever expanding! Digital creativity
opens up the spectrum to so many new avenues
artistically! A few weeks ago I enjoyed taking bits and
pieces from former work and piecing it together
to make patterns!
Before photo of an old painted shoe.....
I have always loved making patterns, but don't do it enough.
Originally I was just  making a bunch of background pages,
when my  imagination  took me down a different road!
After digital finagling into a new pattern
What a surprise when I made this pattern from a piece of
an old shoe painting and mixed bright background! Using
old work to make something new opens the spectrum
to even more unique pieces!  After I created this piece
I just happened to be on the Anthropology website and
saw a couch with a similar pattern in a different colours!
Of course it wasn't my style of couch because I prefer
plainer  couches to pair with vibrant art!
Then I  digitally cut bits from this former painting to  get
a new pattern! What fun I had! Just playing with patterns!
After I  took bits from the above painting! Resizing and distributing!
As you can see by the below pattern not everything turns out
well! Some bits are best  left with the original artwork!!
Not liking this pattern....however the experimenting is fun!!
The following gals were created with inktense
colour blocks used with a brush and water!

Then I cut them out digitally
and placed them on a digitally
 coloured background!
Each character was so fun to make
as I stretch my creative wings!
I originally had the faces full of lines,
to make the women seem older, however'
Cupcake insisted lines on the lady below
were too  much like a goatee! So I tried to
digitally fix them!

Lines are still there but a bit fainter!! All these
characters are just play, with me going a
bit out of my box!
Notice they are all wearing red!

I added some digital font to celebrate International Womans Day!
Using part of a Lyric from my era when woman rose up for
issues they continue to fight for today!
Still playing with these fun images! I copied them to make it seem
like a crowd! I have often used old paintings and bits from others as
a starting point for a digital card.  Marrying painted art and digital
skills leaves no limits to what the imagination can muster!
Do you ever use bits and pieces of your old
art to make new creations?

You are so very clever and creative! I love how you used your older art to make new art. And the patterns rock. So do your women in red celebrating International Women's Day. Bravo you! I can't think of when I have done that, making new art from old, perhaps in an assignment once or twice in Sketchbook Skool. I am doing something "old", as in something I haven't done in five years, again now. I am quilting! Making a lovely quilt with colorful fabrics for my grand daughters up coming wedding gift. I can't post about it anywhere else that she might see, so I am telling you, as I know you can keep my secret. (smile) Have a wonderfully creative week.

That's very cool, I've actually just been doing a similar thing...going back through old sketchbooks and adding to drawings or paintings I wasn't too fond of.

Oh my gosh ! Amazing art this week Sherrie!
You are such a talented woman and artist!
Happy Birthday PPF for you -
always great to hear PPF gets a year older since Art Journal Journey is exact the same age as PPF - it got online in March 2011...oh my gosh!
I never had imagined that it will get so popular and that it would bring so much friends of art for me.

You've had a fabulous time creating - great how your revisit found that couple ... they were biding their time waiting for you!
Those patterns are beautiful and the ladies so gorgeous. I like the "Hear me Roar" piece.
In answer to your question, I go back to my old paintings and enjoy adding more... ha ha, I hadn't finished them back when I thought I had!
Always lots of fun to visit your spot Giggles. Cheers now and Happy PPF :D)

Such a great post today, Sherrie. I loved the "hear me roar" phrase. I often use it even today! Your digital enhanced art looks great. Sure looks like you had a ball doing them. I think the patterns are what really impress me most this post. You have a unique talent in creating them. Very pretty designs.

Yay for using old work to create new work! I think it's an inspired thing to do and love doing the same. I often use the clipart I sell in my own art journals.

I love your painted women! They're fabulous and fun! I went on strike though I work at home for myself so it was easy for me. :)

A PS to my earlier comment... I also am not doing a bag a day in the purge. But I am working on decluttering every day. That counts for a lot, I think. Wednesday I took 2 bags and a basket of silk flowers to Salvation Army and today I took 4 bags of clothing and household stuff plus 3 boxes of glassware to Goodwill Industries. It feels good to get rid of excess things.

Wow Sherrie, you creative mojo has come back with a vengeance! Love everything you've been experimenting with! Do you make your patterns with a certain program? They're looking fab! As well as your inktense ladies. Love the "hear us roar"! :-) I use old art all the time to make new creations. And once I start with digitally altering things it can get quite addicting. If only a day had more hours .. ;-)

Great pieces today!!! I might use pieces from old art to make new on occasion. I don't do anything digitally though... to much for this old brain to figure out. Plus with my eyes I have to restrict my screen time more now. :( I always love what you do with your digital art though ♥
