This time of year has many sad memories for me, my mother died after a grueling three months in palliative care, five years later my long term marriage ended in an ugly messy divorce. It's a season of many other losses too! It's a time of reflection that I rarely anticipate with joy. Except when the fifth of august rolls around to my dear son-in-laws birthday.Such a special gift he is to our lives, he is definately my rainbow after a bad storm of memories!
Sunday Scribbling prompt this week "anticipation!"
Sunday Scribbling prompt this week "anticipation!"
Making major decisions has become extremely difficult as I age!
Unsure
Anticipating
pivotal decisions
Confidence wanes
Unlike former years
When the embryo of hope
Embraced endless possibilities
Fostering a brazen fortitude
Today choices are examined
Like the last prized rose
Infested with aphids
Carefully plucking
Each morsel of concern
To expose the radiance
Of the bloom
Knowing full well
In coming days
It could be
Completely
Irrelevant!

beautiful poem. It's good to find those moments of joy to dwell on, in spite of the situation being dark or sad.
Stay strong!
Yes, I understand the uncertainty of anticipation and the procrastination that can surface from it. I do think that we change the way we do things as we get move from one life stage to the next.
that is one of the best prompts done so far :)
Muted Anticipations
i am sorry for the pain!
I'm sorry this is such a hard time of year for you. I'm hopeful good happenings now and at this time of year in the future will ease it for you.
Love the end of your poem in particular.
I feel happy knowing that you find joy in your son in law and that this adds goodness to this time for you.
Yes decisions can be hard, for each one takes us down a path. Which path to choose. Wishing you clarity with grace.

Simply beautiful
As always, you create beauty even though there is pain in the background. I love the poem and the shaped format - the bag is awesome too! What kind of varnish do you use and doesn't it crack? I'd love to try something like that. You can email me at deedeekm at gmail dot com. :)
Sorry for the difficult reflections but thankyou for the beautiful poem
happy birthday to your gem son Brian
