Compassion

Reworked this guy Brody in my art Journal....I love him!!
Having great people in your life is such a blessing! So I
have a rather positive outlook on humanity! It doesn't
mean I'm a fool and don't take precaution. I do!
For the most part I'm always hoping people will do
what's right and kind, with compassion!
Not sure if you've seen these characters before, I reworked them in my art journal!
So when I read an article  and feel immediate compassion,
I'm shocked when I read the comments where the majority,
hiding behind screens, speak  with such venom.
Completely void of empathy!
It's so disappointing! I feel somewhat disillusioned.
Even though I'm surrounded with so much kindness
it's alarming to see the turn the world is taking!
Much like a virus it seems rather contagious!
When people speak ill of each other it tends
to give others carte blanche to do the same!
Especially if they're protected behind a screen.
Surprisingly some don't even care if you know
who they are! They feel vindicated to be mean
because they have a pack behind them!
Brody is cute in every colour...so quirky and love his teeth!
Pardon me if I never get used to that mentality!
I am from the land of "Sorry" and I  try to have
compassion even when I know it might not
be warranted!! I'd rather give someone the
benefit of the doubt!
These lessons are learned from past mistakes.
Making judgements  before knowing a persons
entire story is inconsiderate. We never fully know
the extent of a persons struggles! Private
people don't often share them!
Besides who wants to live in a world of doom
and gloom? Carrying baggage is hard enough
without unpacking it every time you meet someone
new! Sometimes you just want to put it in a back
closet and  forget it's there! However it does form
who you are, how you act, and react with the
world.

Still I will never get used to the long range of
comments so vile and negative towards a
person, or group of people. While writing
this post I stopped again to read something
related to current event and again a whole
slew of nasty people commented. It's
not what they say so much as how they say it!
Brody makes me happy! Why is it some characters speak to you more than others?
For every one person that makes a really
sensible comment ten or fifteen comments
are degrading, nasty and full of spite!
Often completely off point. I can handle
truth telling, different points of view,
and articulate differences. It's the mean
sarcastic, threatening, ugly spewing
of venom that infuriates me!
Cupcake mixed several silvers together to find the perfect colour for her shoes!
Wednesday was anti Bullying day in Canada.
Everyone wears pink shirts to support
anti Bullying.... however until adults
from all realms of society set a good
example it's almost a fruitless cause.
Or maybe it will take the children to
teach the adults to be kinder! I have
no solution, but something needs to
be done! We NEED a kinder world
filled with more compassion!

Shame on the adults who can't understand this!!
Then she painted a cotton tote bag to match the shoes she had originally searched high and low for!
It's wonderful to have such a kind group of
blogging friends who leave polite kind comments!
So grateful for all of you! Thankful you all put
out such beauty and goodness in your part of the world!

Do you bother to comment on things you are
passionate about even when the trolls
are evident?

Ready for Spring Cupcakes new Silver ensemble makes me happy!

What's something that  made you feel happy this week?

Hello Dear Giggles,

I love the happy impact your Love Love Love Header always has when I bring it up!

Brody is a cutie - oh that little crooked heartwarming smile of his ... love him!

I agree with your thoughts on people judging people. So true, there are so many untold stories in people. Private stories that they may never reveal - very sadly, there's a too quick to judge mentality around in some. Fortunately it's only in some.

Your Cupcake is so clever at whipping up a new item out of old - good for her, the silver shoes and bag are gorgeous!

Cheerio and Happy PPF! :D) xx

Your characters are spectacular. And I totally agree with your words, I am flabbergasted with the stuff you can read from trolls on the internet. I try to stay in my own bubble of artists because I find it hard to keep a positive attitude if I don't. I mean, I have to watch the news just to keep up with the world so I try to stay away from other non essential media that tends to have trolls. Visiting from PPF. Have a lovely upcoming weekend.

The USA is so divided politically these days, that it saddens me when I go on Facebook and my friends from both sides make such ugly comments. I think that name calling just aggravates people and makes things worst. I like Cupcakes new fashion accessories. Blessings!

Lovely art from you and cupcake. Yes, some people are plain nasty - mean, spiteful and want to hurt us. I just try to avoid contact with them it helps. Hugs, Valerie

Love the flashy shoes and bag!! I agree with you - it is so disheartening to see all the escalating hate in the world. I just try to keep my chin up and spread all the joy I can, hoping to cheer the masses :)

I find so many people are negative. I think people forget what really makes them happy. Of course right now here in the US I think our new president is making many of us feel doom and gloom more than normal. I love the art this week-especially those cute bears. :) Happy weekend. Hugs-Erika

I am delighted with your owls and just love seeing them when I come to your blog! Of course your Brody is wonderful-such a happy little dog:) It seems to me there is so much more bulling-cyber style because people of all ages are just TOO darned concerned and connected to social media 24/7. So I stay away from it and prefer the likes of the kind souls that blog-like YOU. Cupcake sure is having fun painting fabric-great job with the silver!
Have a great weekend and happy PPF!

Wonderful owls with sparkly eyes on your header banner. I was never bullied nor a bullier as a child because my parents taught me how to treat other people. And I guess I wasn't "bullied person" material. Don't know. It's wrong. I have been upset this week that someone would do parody of Barron Trump. No matter who a person voted for, this should be upsetting that a child would be subjected to this. Love how Cupcake changed ordinary into fabulous with the silver. And your Brody is wonderful.

Love the wonderful cute creature art! Gorgeous and fun as always :) I also really really LOVE those sparkling silver Converse! I've always wanted to paint a pair. This could be a good summer project. And I agree with you, too much negativity. It's painful reading online sometimes.

Sadly your are right about your thoughts ... our world seems to have lost it's grip on kindness and compassion. I too would like to avoid, but that is not helpful to anyone but me. I try to speak softly but firmly because I think some need to be reminded that cruel is not the new normal ... Bullying has an open door here in the USA because a major figure does it and sets the example. Also a law that was to protect kids against bullying is being reversed. We do need to be kind and honest in expressing our views ... but I do believe we need to express them or they will be trampled by the few who think they have the right of way. Bless you, Giggles. You set a good example for us all. And, not forgotten, your art always inspires me ... love your Owl header and all of your compassionate little friends.

I agree with you completely. The vile contempt from people is disturbing and contagious. If one writes something others think they can follow. I don't have the answer to this. I try to be positive and write positive things even when posting my view on something I know will go against the grain of some. Be kind to one another and hope, pray it leaves an impression to be carried forward. As always your art brings such joy and happiness even when you are getting a point across. Have a nice weekend.

PS. I had a wonderful visit with a glass maker friend of mine. He invited me and DH to his studio and I got some beautiful glass from him.

Lovely-fun art as always!
Cool silver shoes of cupcake!

I so agree with you Sherrie...there's such of compassion these days!!! It really saddens me when I hear such stories. But amid all these sometimes you come across heart-warming ones like this:

I think there is lots of goodness and kindness in the world, but the badness gets so much publicity. I only read comments in art and craft blogs, hardly ever in public sites. Our blogland art companions are so generous, thoughtful and positive in their comments.
I'm loving your painted creatures (acrylic paints?), especially Brody and the two bears (I think they are bears, apologies to them if they are not). The bird looks a bit sad, maybe he has been out a lot and is just tired?
Great work with the silver paint, love the shoes especially.

Your post is 'spot on' as they say ~ we need more love in this world ours and the USA president is vile ~ I feel alienated from him and I live in the USA~

but your work is lovely and colorful, creative and brightens my day ~ thanks,

Wishing you a Happy Weekend ~ ^_^

I agree, it's very hard dealing with the negativity, and so many people try to get me to argue with them. But I just observe and stay in my bubble.

Your bears are SO cute!

Keyboard warriors and trolls are quite prolific on social media sites like Facebook and YouTube. They go out of their way to disrespect, denigrate, and degrade their 'target'. It's wrong and, for the most part, the best course of action is to ignore them because these nasty people get a buzz when they get a reaction or see that they have upset someone. I know that ignoring hurtful and belittling words can be hard but I have seen that responding to them only gives them fuel to continue. I believe everyone is entitled to their opinion but there are definitely more respectful, compassionate, and kinder ways to go about discussing topics.

On a happier note, I love Cupcake's revamped tote and shoes!

Happy PPF!

Your daughter is quite the genius with paint and fabric. How fun that she just made her own unique pair of shoes and tote :-)
Again a lot of truth in what you're writing. I have been appalled reading the hateful stuff people have been posting on the internet. Now as soon as I see hateful comments I stop reading. I think the best way to deal with it is just to ignore it, because people posting vile things are doing that to get a reaction. Nothing is as frustrating to them than everyone ignoring them. Although sometimes I just cannot keep quiet. But I refuse getting into a discussion with them. Sadly, it seems to be the state of the world today... And I'm sad it's also starting in some blogs and art groups. It's a good thing that we can block people ;-) And I'm happy that I haven't had to do that yet (block people I mean) :-) Wishing you a great weekend ♥

Love your art this week and cupcakes shoes and bag are fantastic♥♥♥ I try to to let the negative world get to me but then I don't want to live my life in a bubble and not stand up to what is wrong too. It's a hard line to stand on.

A lovely post Sherrie and I agree with everything you say. There are some cruel people out there.
I love Cupcakes creations.

Love those silver shoes! They made me happy. As for compassion - I try to err on the side of love and grace, and if that makes me a pushover, well, I'd rather be that way. I can't understand how people can say things on a screen that they would never say to someone's face. Shame on them!

I love love, love all your little creatures this week! I try to stick to the creative, artsy, supportive places online. Happy PPF!

Love Brody in all colors:-) Love the painted shoes and bag. Will that paint stay on? Meanwhile, we all need to be cautious in what we say and do to keep from being labeled bullies.

How true your words are... very upsetting and worrying too. I think the internet and social media is making it a whole different ball game... making it easier to vent anger and venom. Personally, I try not to say anything negative or upsetting to anyone, no matter in what format. If I can't say anything nice then I don't say anything!
I think we should try to improve someone's day not strip it!
Your artwork is great as usual, so colourful. Love your cute characters... I always do!
I also love those 'before and after' photo's too.
Happy PPF to you :D

Hi Giggles! I love Brody! I can see why he is one of your favorites. Beautiful shoes and bag. Great job! As for people, it is so much easier (I think) to go negative. I will always stand for my truth, however I will not do it with ill will or negativity. I too get frustrated with the "Us" and "Them" mentality which only has the two sides seeing who can throw the most mud at each other. Sure wish people could put all that energy into solving the problems. Could you imagine how much could be done? So I stand with you on plain rude, mean people. Bug Hugz! Rasz

This post is particularly sad for me today, since I read all the stuff that other participant of my challenge said about ME, and bunch of people jumped to insult me, without giving me the benefit of learning the other side of the story. I was not aware of all those horrible posts until last night and it was such a heavy bullying session, where I was the unaware victim. Only one person stood by me, and all the other comments, including yours was misinformed. At least you were not insulting, but only one person stopped to think there is always another side of the story. I wonder if all of those other people will realize soon that they were made trolls.
I always enjoyed visiting your blog.

I try not to engage with nasty mean people even on topics I'm passionate about! One such topic is bullying! love that your country has an anti bullying day! I have no tolerance for mean people. During this very tumultuous US election, I've given my opinion, but stay clear of debates where bully's are out for blood. Very upsetting. And very difficult when you speak with clients who no matter how much you tell them we can't discuss politics, refuse to stop!
I'm currently going through a problem with a "mean girl" in my class! Reminds me of the horrors of middle school!
I agree with nature footstep. Your art work may be the solution! Always makes me smile and feel good! Hugs
