Proud and Grateful Paint Party Friday

How  lucky am I to live in a Country that is peaceful and free...with four seasons, freedom of speech and creativity as well as free access to medical services for a small monthly fee?
As we celebrated Canada Day July 1st I reflected on something my dad said fifty years ago. He asked me," why do you think you are so lucky to be born in such a beautiful and peaceful country instead of a faraway land where food is scarce and there is so much unrest?" A big question for an eight year old, one that stuck with me!! It kept me from taking my life  and possessions for granted!
Today a friend sent an email, another reminder how lucky we are to live where there is access to so many wonderful basic and luxurious amenities that  many countries could only dream of! The following thoughts were born...........
A former hockey hero once filling an arena with eighteen thousand people awaits  his demise with a terminal disease, while three hundred people show up outside his hospital room to chant his name in appreciation. Another revered hockey goalie adored while at the top of his game hears little fuss when he's traded. Styles come and go, heroes come and go, only the rare few stay in the lime light for long. We are a fickle society!
Wedding card for a friend...looks better in person, the sparkles alter the photo!
We love our new smart phones or tablets until a newer model comes along. We appreciate things while they do us a service, then they are tossed willy-nilly  to the side. Do we value people and things enough I wonder?

A woman gains a few pounds and feels she's not worthy, a  man or woman ages and is treated like they are no longer relevant, social media comes along and ousts what was thought to be timeless Newsprint. Maybe years ago things had a longer shelf life...like   electronics, small appliances, friendships, and marriage. Some people change their mind like their underwear, falling into that change, disregarding long term consequences.... so much is dictated to us about what and who, we should want, or love!  Yet each of us have such unique interests and preferences! I often wonder how we so easily fall prey to this kind of marketing!
I'm glad I was born in a day where life was simpler, relationships and values took priority! I watch my kids on a few days off enjoying each other with only small bout on social media and a bit of television.  They are truly enjoying the simple life, shutting out the world to reconnect  and calling it a holiday!
Are you fickle, do you find yourself wanting that possession/or person touted as the next best thing? Are you truly appreciating the simple things that are unavailable in so many other parts of the world?

Today and everyday I am a proud Canadian appreciating friends, family and the  simple things!

Exploding with Color! Paint party Friday 13 year two

It's Paint Party Friday and I'm in a partying mood!! Even though I have had a fluey cold virus the last few days!!  The weather is miserable right now!! But not to worry, you'll still need your sunglasses around here because there is a manic explosion of color coming your way!! I have so much to share I don't even know where to start!

This is Dopps, He's an original, the rest are color edits!!
I have no idea why he's wearing girly shoes!!

As you all know I love me some color, after all my characters are done I can't wait to put them in the editing program and see what colors I can change them into !! That same excitement I got as a child waiting for a piece of spin art , to stop at the fair, whooshes over me as I edit the color on a new creation!!  Sometimes the edits are even more colorfully  interesting than the original!! And it makes me so HAPPY!!! What can I say, I'm just  an old dork!!!

 This is Juice
The first is my original painting!
The rest are color edits!!

I've been such a creating machine this week! Doing  everything except the homework for my ecourse, and housework! I swear there is a creative energy that swoops into the house and takes us over! Seems like I am not  alone,  son-in-law the music man has been bitten too!!
Hokey is my original, the rest are color edits.
As you can see the color didn't differentiate
on the owls as much as they did on
the first two sets of edits!!

Sometimes I go into such a creative trance that I forget what I'm wearing destroying   unscathed nightshirts!! Dear daughter Cupcake gets tired of seeing me in paint spattered attire!! Mostly long black nightshirts!!! Cause that's how I roll, and I am a messy girl!! As I sit here loading the computer I realize I grabbed the wrong shirt once again, darn it!! It was pretty, and paint free,....yesterday!!  lol Oh well another one bites the dust!!  How many articles of clothing have you ruined with paint?
This is Jube
Suze
Is my first contribution for
"The Summer of Color 2012" Ice cream inspirations!
Check out participating artist on the flickr page here!
Pinky
This post is way too long so check back tomorrow and the next day to see Pinky , Suze, and Jube who has a lot of copper in him, transform into new colors  edits too!!

I've Changed my Mind

My original Collage Sally enhanced with Acrylics
This  collage  was required for Lisa Wrights e-course I'm taking! It's not too late to join in either!!!  It's really opening up my creative spectrum!!
Thanks Lisa, I'm loving it!!
Collage was  much like Stew,,,which I can say is probably the one North American food I truly hate  and will NEVER like, no matter how wonderfully you cook it!! Although there is no hope for stew, collage has  turned out to be a terrific  recipe for exploration in creativity which I am really enjoying. Once I get past all the little cut up bits hiding in corners I may do a few more on my own!!!

It's been especially fun since  I figured out I could take my collage to  Photobucket and do some amazing colorful  digital edits on it!!!
Turning Sally  into all kinds of special!!
She is now a girl of many different colors!!

I have loved color for as long as I can remember!
I have never understood why people love
white and beige so much when color is at their finger tips!!

It makes my eyes dance and my heart soar!! Color feeds my soul!!
The second purple one is my favorite! How about you which one do you like best??
