What makes you happy?

Journal page done with water colors and sharpies!
My picasa account is maxed out and I have been wondering how the heck I am going to post photos without changing my blog! Thankfully Flickr is hosting right to blogger!

So what makes you really happy? I love doing so many things but right now I am focused on keeping my blog alive! Gathering my art into something more constructive! I have a decent body of work that I could do something with! My brother has bugged me for a few years now, even volunteered to invest in me!! How's that for great support! My kids have been throwing food at me all day so I can work on reading and figuring out new boring  techie things! I must say the vegetarian pasta was amazing. The fruit blended smoothy and the coffee were wonderful too!  Thanks guys!

I have no reason to procrastinate! What will make me happy is to gather my art into
something useful, something that makes a difference to people lives! My friends daughter got a hold of one of my poems posted it on the  wall in her living room and read it daily to get her though some of her hardest days! I was so touched when I heard that! I would love to do that for more young women! That kind of thing makes me happy! Helping others to get through the tough times! I've been doing it since I was a kid I guess now is the time to really try and make a difference with my words and art!

My neck is stiff from sitting way too long, but heck if I don't want just a little game of scrabble to top off my day!! Happy Saturday to you!!! I hope you do more of what makes you happy!!

Change of Attitude

Tuesday I went to Costco for some pick me ups, a BBQ Chicken, and jalapeno bread for an easy supper. I got multigrain cheerios that we all love, coffee, cheese, and yellow tulips for my daughter. I was shocked to see shrimp went from just under nine dollars a bag, to almost fifteen bucks!

Lately I've been taking a night time Advil before bed. My knee was not too bad. So I searched vigorously for the cocoa on my list.  It's usually hard to miss the bright yellow label, but there was none to be found.   Unfortunately  box stores rarely have any clerks nearby to ask for assistance.

I headed to the check stands. There were lineups galore. My eyes spent the time wandering into the surrounding shopping carts. Curiously looking for new interesting meal ideas!  I noted a different type of feta than I usually get. Peoples clothes, mannerism, habits, relationship dynamic  keep me interested and stave off boredom!

It was nearing dinner hour so I slipped into a shorter lineup. A  middle aged male cashier took my card.  I asked if there was any cocoa. He was a bit Blasé, telling me he hadn't seen any come through lately. Head down ran a few of my groceries through, stopped and asked if I wanted to donate to the Japan Tsunami fund. I paused for a second. Then quickly said "yes." He asked how much, I blurted an amount without much thought. Even at that it felt cheap.  I should have put the yellow tulips back, counted my blessings and added that to my donation too.  But  my daughter needs tender care right now, those tulips gave her some joy. Enough about my guilt.

After my donation the Cashier perked up, kindly yelled over to customer service about the cocoa, asked them for the code, sweetly asked how many I wanted, sent someone to retrieve one for me. His whole demeanor had change. Was this even the same guy? He was very sweet!

While waiting for my cocoa I could hear the next few customers decline to contribute. I was so happy to see Red Cross on my bill!!!   Verification it's going to a good place. I looked around Costco, so busy. I thought  if everyone  gave just a  bit it could mount so very quickly!  Who knows, might give another  Mr. Grumpy pants  a shot of much needed nicety!

Tailgater

Yesterday I was driving home after dropping the dog back to her owner. I had the sun roof open, Adele was blaring and I was in my glory. An old turquoise Toyota sedan  was following really close behind me. The fellow was beaming from ear to ear. I felt a bit nervous how close tailgater was.
I thought I heard beeping, and was thinking, oh no here we go again!!! What now? But I talked myself out of it!! Tailgater kept smiling as though he just won the lottery. He was driving a bit erratically so I kept checking my rear view mirror. I kept hearing beeping...but it was probably the music. Next thing I know tailgater was beside me, smiling and trying to get my attention. It was  creepy. Tailgater, probably fifteen years younger than me if not more obviously had spring fever.  What the heck...he was trying to hit on me while I was driving? He drove in front of me, then beside me again. Omg he was acting so peacockish!  Why doesn't he do what I do when I have spring fever, open his windows and turn up the music....geesh....that's all I need some crazy manic guy with an old car....been there done that!!! No thanks!

Pump Dude

Today I was doing errands.  Saw that gas was a bit cheaper at a Co-op   station.  I decided to top up my tank! I drove up to the nearest pump, in behind a  vacant truck. I expected the owner was paying for gas or buying  lottery tickets. I sat patiently waiting, because that's what I do!...I'm pretty darn patient! Meanwhile a  man standing three pumps away was smirking at me. He had that, "what's that dumb chick waiting for", kind of smirk on his face. He kept staring as though I had my skirt tucked into my underwear, which wasn't possible because I was sitting in my car....Okay....maybe that was possible, but he couldn't see it.  Anyway, he kept smirking. I felt uneasy, a bit foolish, but didn't  know why.I could have switched to a vacant pump on the other side.  Instead I kept waiting, maybe a little too long.  No one returned to the truck.  Pump  dude continued  laughing at me. Still shaking his head  in contempt. Obviously I was  doing something wrong.   He definitely thought  I was a stupid, heck if I knew why!   I considered passing on the gas, not passing gas, after all I still had three quarters of a tank of fuel. But I wanted the cheap gas, and a touch-less car wash to get the winter salt off my car. It was now  evident  the truck driver wasn't coming back. I looked in my rear view mirror preparing to back up. As I swung my head around, there it was. A city tow truck. Rear view lights butted up to my passenger door. I had blocked him in. I felt pretty sheepish. There was nowhere for him to go until I moved! Pumper dude was still shaking his head, now blatantly laughing at me.  Duh.....Fat chick finally got it!! Thankfully I had sunglasses on to hide my shame! I quickly pulled out and around to another pump, parallel to him. He pulled out and left, thank goodness. I'm sure I created some evening fodder, for  pump dude and the trapped tow truck driver!
I imagine I swooped in behind the vacant truck just as the tow truck was planning  to perform a tow! Oops!!!

Recap of 2010

I have been fighting with the blogger photo uploader for several days trying to post a recap of my favorite parts of 2010. Visiting these munchkins two days before the New Year brought me so much joy! Two little miracles planned, wanted, dearly loved and so much fun!!!

I was greeted with  open arms begging to be held. What a thrill
knowing she's the skeptic of the two!

Look at her, she knows a great guy  when she sees one! A man
who will one day make a phenomenal dad!

Wearing the little monkey pajamas we brought them!

Twins scheming, "you look in her purse, while I try on her shoes" So cute!!

Eventually off to dream land in a very cute room!
Their mom and dads amalgamated 40th birthday party celebrated in august! My friend Niccis 40th and Bryans eldest brothers 40th birthday.  Makes me feel old! The twins parents babysat Pepper when she was a baby!

This guy got all new industrial parts to spiffy up his jeep...which used to be mine. He loves the car as much as I did...only he has the skill to fix it when need be!

I got piles of sundries free from my coupon clipping daughter, a free pair of lenses during the 10,000 free giveaway that clearly contacts held, and free concert from my SIL, plus I won a few prizes, cuz after all I am a winner...... at least that's what I tell myself!
The cupcake tee-shirt I won for Pepper from my artist Friend Donna Gotlib!
Got new hardwood floors laid, which was like birthing a child, chaotic, messy, painful but well worth it!

Finished several pieces of art hanging in my home.

Got my eyebrows threaded for the first time.....now why the heck didn't I do this years ago!!! Silly me! Try it you'll love it!!!
The year had a few glitches but the positives outweighed the negatives!!!
Happy New Year everyone! Let's hope I can blog more frequently now!

Scribble of an idea!

So many things in my life are half done right now, so  I paused to appease my craving for color taking a few minutes to scribble this digital piece. I did literally scribbled it, as I experimented with the possiblility of eventually doing a large acrylic! We'll see. My creative  mind is a jumble of projects  begging to be done. I need large blocks of energy, and  uninterupted time to prep, plan and complete. The painting muse only appears  on occasion, the angst she brings beckons attention! We'll see where this goes!

Who knew!

Does life just get quirkier as we get older? Or do WE get quirkier? And damn it, when did I turn into my mother? At twenty  I was so  quick to share all my complaints about  mom to a dear friend. We compared all our mothers follies. Guess what? Now thirty years later we  both share our mother's follies. I can't remember the last time I checked the window tracks in my house to see how clean they are. Bet my friend  hasn't either.

Who friggin cares....if you don't see them they aren't there. What kind of an idiot was I?  Running around with a Q-TIP cleaning grunge from window sills! Did anyone every say to me " Wow you have the cleanest tracks in town....what a good house keeper you are?" No they never did! Just like they never said wow what a clean floor you always have, when I washed it every single night before bed. Just so my child could  drag   grass off her trampoline onto the floor the very next day!

Who is the real fool I wonder...? Yes that might be me!! Cooking in a hot house for years, trying to keep life perfect when it was far from it! Now I do what I want, and I like it a lot better....But oh man, does someone want to send a housekeeper my way so I can have another game of scrabble?

Checking it twice

Last week Pepper bused to a mega once a year shoe sale. All name brand   high end shoes for dirt cheap. The women were crazed hoarding piles of foot fitting candy. I have no desire to fight a crowd for shoes thank you very much. Not a parking spot to be found when I picked her up.

This year it was all sales final. In past years women would buy forty pairs then return thirty nine. So they changed the policy. She found a pair of comfy rocket dog high wedgie forties style Mary janes. The clerks all but kissed her when she asked a non shoe related question. Why are people so insanely rude over material possessions?

We decided to split a burger for lunch.  Asking the guy at our favorite burger joint  if there were any deals, politely, three times. I still couldn't understand what he said. In the end it was "  no deals today." We drive around the corner, on the side of the building a big poster advertising a deal, almost half the price. Annoyed we feel duped, feeding each others anger about the Tuesday special we're missing out on. One car length    from the window I  psyche myself up for the big " WE WANT THE DEAL" talk.  My daughter is more upset than me. I Iook to the poster again, then back at her,  pause  while she finishes her rant. Then trying to contain my self I tell her "It's NOT TUESDAY!!!"  We both burst into hysterics!!!  Not gunna lie, I rather enjoyed being wrong before I hit that window and make a total ass of myself!!!

Sunday Scribblings Oracle

My oracle is congruent with google reader! Sharing experiences in thought provoking blogs throughout our universe invokes a plethora of ideas and interest. The compilation is awe inspiring, filled with unique snippets of greatness. Art, prose, and style married informatively with vision, spirit and insight. This week I wondered how anyone could ever be bored, with so much to explore and do both physically and mentally. Life is an energy enveloping masterpiece of interesting goings on! All you need to do is embrace it!

Just a few blogs I ponder over the week!

Alisa Burke

On her table is a selection of all my favorite colors, how she uses them is unique and uplifting! Love her artwork!

Found six word Saturday at Show my face!

Here’s mine! Describe your life in six words!

Enveloped in love, color and peace!

One of my favorite blogs to peek in on! Life in the fun lane!

She has brought me over to the white side which I have rejected for years now!!

Beige is still on my “ do not like list!”

Jaime's blog has an awesome video on art and wishcasting.

Dare to wish for! I thought this to be an interesting concept that got me thinking!!

I dare to wish for trust…something I am skeptical of!

Trust I’ll make the right choices

Trust I can get things completed

Trust I am doing the right thing

Trust in people who I thought had my back and ones who don’t

Trust enough to love completely, another!
